now THIS is rehabilitation!!! also fun fact in case anyone didn't know, there's been studies that show you get a big serotonin boost when you hold a cat and an even bigger boost when they're purring, so not only are these inmates finding and having purpose, it's actively stimulating their minds and having great positive impacts on the inmates. i wish these programs could be in all prisons, it wouldn't fix all the problems but it would be a damn good start

This is wonderful helping and caring for an animal is very rewarding and great therapy for animals and humans if they are open to it
I do think it shows a level of special kind humanity on how they treat animals.

Don’t judge people in life. Most people in prison have had a fucked up life in one way or another, either abused sexually or otherwise. Most people understand if you abuse a dog it ends up biting people, but they don’t allow the same grace and understanding to humans. Deep down no one wants to be evil, that’s a fact. They’ve just got a lack of love in their life, on some level they’re fundamentally hurt and broken. Huge respect for what this man is doing, hopefully other people can benefit in the same way and get a chance in life. All for stuff like this x

meanwhile america can't find funding to give children in school free lunches and actual education so they don't end up in prison. but then prisons wouldn't make as much money as they do which is why america the way it is. wake up folks
In my opinion this is a great use of funds. Giving free meals to kids is great too but this is also VERY positive. It's not only about helping inmates but the cats in the program as well. I agree prisons can be very very corrupt and money hungry but THIS is a good step in the right direction.

You can tell this guy cares about those cats a lot. I think these programs are an amazing thing to have and I hope they get expanded to more facilities in the future

I don't know which crime he committed to be incarcerated and I do not condone his deeds but as of currently he is going through rehabilitation and cats are being taken care of. This is how he atone I suppose.

Scarey to think SOME of the prisoners might hurt the cats! After all they are in prison for a reason..most of them have done horrible things! Never lose sight of the Facts!
The inmates are carefully selected and I imagine closely monitored. I understand the concern for the cats but they are most likely getting better care and love here than in a normal shelter.
A prison isn’t going to allow anyone with sexual or violent tendencies to care for an animal. Common sense.
That’s why that sign. I’ll bet most wouldn’t tolerate the abuse of cats though.

Criminals don't deserve cats.
All people mess up; some more than others. We should not be judged by our past mistakes. I’m sure none of these men have violent tendencies or a sex abuse history. They are nurturing the cats to be adoptable instead of euthanized. This program helps the men and the cats recover. Being around animals, specially the vulnerable, is healing.

This guy clearly cares so much about these cats, and taking care of them, I hope when he gets out he becomes like a vet tech or something. I know I heard a long sentence but I'm also certain he can, and will, get a reduced sentence for all that he's doing and even promoting. I would hope a vet would look past the criminal past and look at what he did while there - with these cats and hire him.

I bet you this guy never expected that prison would turn him into a cat lady 😅. For real tho, see what happens when someone has a purpose.. you can tell he takes his duties very seriously and it probably keeps him out of trouble because he doesn’t want to jeopardize it.

Fabulous. They should have cat and dog programs in every prison across the country. Put De Santis and Trump in with the animals. They may actually learn a thing or two.
This is great for them as it gives them a reason to behave and not get into trouble as prison. You have so much free time, and I really hope that other prisons start doing similar programs. It will help people when they get out so they don't end up back there.

That’s a nice thing but some criminals it’s too late. This is intended for people that you know are changed.
Hopefully it can help people BEFORE it's too late. That's probably the best way to keep people from reofending is to help them before they get out.
I hope those cats are well taken care of and get outside for fresh air
You guys are Super, it's wonderful the things you do for Cats. All of them are beautiful, sentient beings. Thank you so very much for all you do. More prisons should have these programs, it good for both the cats and the human caregivers.

This is amazing! They need to have these programs at more facilities to give the inmates a purpose that is positive and actually rehabilitate them.
This is amazing to watch and this is rehabilitation. I am proud of this man for doing what he does. This man should be trained as a Vet Technician and have a really great career. He looks like a genuine and good person. Much respect to the Indiana Department of Correction for such a great cause. It really works.
