    Thank you for your question, Travis. The housing is made of a reinforced polyurethane material that is similar in durability to our previous designs. The actual seed meter wheel and small seeds meter wheel are centered metal, and this is the same material used in our older feed cup meter wheel. So although we have changed the design of the components to improve accuracy, the raw materials used are very similar in quality and durability. The last component is the fertilizer meter wheel which is a durable, corrosive-resistant polyurethane material with a long wear life. Since 1984, we have used polyurethane metering components in air drill meters with a high success rate.

    Yes, an end wheel no-till drill will do all of the things you asked. It is available in 6', 7',10', and 12' versions. To deliver both seed and fertilizer, you would want to order it with the optional fertilizer box. For more information, visit www.greatplainsag.com/en/implements/united-states/compact-drills. The models are 606NT, 706NT, 1006NT, and 1206NT. Should you need a drill that works in a tilled seedbed, consider an 8' 800F or a 13' 1300F drill with the optional fertilizer box.

    Hi Steven, thanks for your question. On 4-17-2019, we shot the initial video about ruts and tools that might be used to remove them, including the Great Plains Ultra-Disk. This was done as an emergency pass to level the field so the farmer could plant. In spring of 2019, time was limited to leveling the field for planting, so we were forced to cover the ruts up and allow spring planting. The 4 of 5 Ruts Exposed video was shot on 4-18-2019. Our agronomist explains the need to address the ruts in the fall after harvest with a deep fall tillage tool to actually remove the compaction layers left by our spring emergency tillage pass. We documented the location of the rut, so we could return to the same spot later. In late spring/early summer, the farmer used a soil finisher to further smooth the field and planted soybeans with a 30” planter. On 12-4-2019, we went back to the same rut and destroyed the compaction layer with a Max-Chisel. Videos 1-5 were documented and filmed at the exact same location, though we did use 4 different camera angles. Hope this helps!

    Does this product create a hard pan like a traditional field cultivator?

  • @GreatPlainsAg
    @GreatPlainsAg6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Justin, thanks for your question. The short answer is that it depends. The Ultra-Chisel can be equipped with 7" wing points, which are specially designed to create total fracture across the entire profile rather than just rip slots in the soil. This gives more of a vertical tillage effect, which wouldn't create as much of a density layer. However, the Ultra Chisel can also be outfitted with sweeps. It definitely depends on what options you are looking for on your operation. For more assistance, feel free to reach out to your local Great Plains dealer or visit our website bit.ly/2zcvXhj

    Your compact drills such as the 606NT is advertised as "multipurpose". The owners manual states it can seed in no-till, minimum tillage, or conventional tillage. I take this to mean I can overseed a pasture or seed into a completely prepared seed-bed (plowed and disked). Is this an accurate interpretation? Thank you.

  • @GreatPlainsAg
    @GreatPlainsAg7 жыл бұрын

    Hello - please accept our apologies for missing your comment when it was first posted. Here is our advice: This drill is built and sold as a no-till drill. However, many are used in a min-till fashion. As far as we can tell, you shouldn’t have any issues. In min-till conditions, there’s always a possibility that coulter blades may need to be removed in some fluffy conditions. In some hard no-till conditions, you may also need to add the optional weight brackets to the drill-the additional weight will aid penetration. Feel free to contact us here if you have more questions! www.greatplainsag.com/node/13

    which culture requires this kind of tillage?

  • @GreatPlainsAg
    @GreatPlainsAg9 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your question! This type of tillage creates "beds" for bedded irrigation. In the Delta, they plant into these beds to prevent the over-saturation of roots, because the water is able to drain off the mound. In other cases, water is pumped through the channels directly to, or close to, the roots.
