Rather than zip ties, could you used steel wire, like rebar wire? I worry about zip ties, particularly the white (indoor) ones. Appreciate the video!!

One side on my 06 Camry is working but the other isn’t. Pump and everything is working fine. Could this likely be a clogged nozzle?

I don't know how you worked that out. I had to take the brown trim, the A/C control remove 4 bolts under the radio and then pull it out 3 inches before taking that glove box out. Couldn't move the radio enough without unbolting the frame.

Great video! Just used your method to re-spring mine and it works great. I skipped the zip tie part as to not weaken the hinge anymore than it already is but if i have to pull it out again i'll take the extra step. Thanks for the tutorial!

Great Thank you! I have a compound issue though. The springs are likely out of place on the door lift, but the latch is not working either. Hopefully, once I follow the removal steps you posted, it will just be a spring too. Thanks again for posting this!

I liked seeing the demo of how it's supposed to pop up with both springs in place. I have a loose spring type sound coming from the glove box area and I think after seeing this it might be the same problem. When I push the button it opens and raises the door, but it's kinda slow and doesnt go all the way up. I bought it used so I just thought that was the way it operated. So you never heard a noise? I kept thinking it was something rattling IN the upper or lower glove box but I was in the passenger seat and kept removing things and kept hearing the rattle.

Thank you!!! Between this video and the radio removal recommendation, taking out the upper glovebox was straightforward. Also, great idea with the tie downs! When setting the spring, I used a short loop of tie wire to pull down the spring which made that part a bit easier. I still needed a second pair of hands to use a screwdriver to set the spring in the hole while I held tension on it. I also used tie wire to hold down the spring with the tie wire being twisted/clipped on the outside edges. That had the benefit of requiring smaller drill holes.

That broken plastic piece was load-bearing. The spring was being retained there, but slipped around to the next thing that would retain it after that plastic piece broke off.

Thanks for posting, I found it much easier if you pulled out a few more panels and pulled the radio out further, only takes another 2 minutes and a 10mm socket. You can look up sienna radio removal on youtube. Once the radio was of the way, it came off easily

Those cracked pieces on both sides been cracked because they were the "pivot"? points where the other side of the spring been pushing against. After those pieces broke off - the spring made another 90-or-so degree turn until it reached a sturdy surface again and thus making the spring effect less effective :) I ended up drilling another "pilot" hole for the spring to compensate the lost whatever degrees caused by the broken plastic. I did this repair probably 6 years ago (only one spring popped out of place), but recently the door stopped popping up again, so I suspect the second spring failed :)

Brien, I like all the others here really appreciate seeing this. Unfortunately, at 78-year-old, I am not sure I want to tackle it. But, should I decide to try, where would one get that plastic prying tool you used? Is it something I could get at an auto parts store or hardware store? Thanks a million, if you are able to find this comment and provide an answer. I bet the dealer would want to sell me a new glove box and the labor to install it. I bet that would take about one month's social security out of my pocket. UPDATE: I did as suggested in another comment and looked into loosening the radio mounting bolts, in that video the gentleman provides my answer. The prying tool(s) apparently come in a set and are not too expensive. Guess I will rethink tackling my weak spring action. Thank you again for this most informative video.

Sounds like you got it, but if others are interested I bought this set for $13: www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3SP84D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_GQBSV22YG5F34H40X176 There is a $9 version that has fewer tools and no case.

Releasing the panel of the glove box on the left side requires that you loosen the radio bolts so that you would not damage the plastic prior to forcing the radio panel off. Reference "KZread" videos on how to remove radio to see how this is done. Process is easy and only tool require is a 10 mm socket to loosen and remove 2 radio bolts on the right side.
