I wish you hadn't told people about Natural Falls. It's a beautiful little park that I'd rather keep secret. I'm 66 and have camped at all of these, starting with Robber's Cave and Arrowhead with my parents when I was about 10.

    A) I am NOT telling you my secret spots. B) If anyone is ever in Lake Havasu, AZ, stop but the BLM office there. There is a guy there who can tell you where ask the best spots are for EXACTLY the thin you want to do. He's like a free travel guide for all the free camping and recreation.

Using the Campendium app and it doesn’t allow you to select BLM as a filter option. The screen you showed had a lot of options that aren’t on the app.

The most spectacular spot in the North Cascades that I have camped at is the summit of Luna Peak. The only problem is that it is rather difficult to access.

some updates: the camping around Crested Butte has been clamped down on since this vid was made and Stillwater pass burned in a forest fire. I am not sure, but it's possible you can't camp there anymore.

Good Luck using Compendium anymore! Sold to and destroyed by capitalism. No more map, just a list of sites to scramble through not knowing if anything is along your route. Stick with KZread for suggestions, better than Compendium is now.

I am 74. I have the Campendium app and upgraded Roadpass but don't understand how to get the directions onto the voice activation. I used it outside the app when I have an actual address but when it asks for start at your location I tap use my location and the location is the site that I picked. It shows the blue line leading to it but how do I get it to start the voice directions? I tap that I want "to leave now", but nothing happens. How do I get it to give voice directions?

Keararge easy 6 miles up. Cottonwood Lakes you park at 10k no real elevation gain. White 7 miles up a road. 14252. Shepherd Pass is long hot tough. 12800 Duck Pass at Mammoth lakes is shorty one. Gould at Kearsarge 13000 fairly easy. Dana hot. Hot. Exposed. 13000. Great view. Electric Yellowstone awesome. My favorite Barronette Yellowstone from ice box canyon up ridge Big boy Tyndall Williamson area. Tyndall is good views. University is tougher. Sierra.

I do it infantry style less than 18 inches off ground. In and out at dark dusk dawn. Pack everything out. 4x4 jeep 2dr so drive up where most can't or won't. Know the areas thoroughly though so that helps.

On coast I go Nascimento road from hunter Piggott side. On coast at end left is SanSimeon Cambria right Ragged point sand dollar beach. Then of course rest up to Carmel, 9 miles south of Monterey. Those are biggest coves on coast. Marine reserve. North of Monterey is nice beach. In Oregon I stay between Dunes Florence and Yachats.

Movie road is over run. Was amazed at how many vehicles piled in. Inyo County took over Independence and other LA County campgrounds. I didn't know it was permitted now 23. Just drove to the top of last big hill. I sleep on ground. Jeep 2 door. Use vault toilets. Slept up at White Mountain 12800. Open other vehicles. There is a vault toilet now. I sleep at Grant Lake peninsula at dark. Windy so no mosquitoes if blowing. Get up at dawn. Drive up to Yosemite. T Meadows put each night. If someone is with me. Go to Lake Mary. Mammoth has everything. Pay. I go in at dark. Dusk. Leave at dawn. Off 395.

Surprised Texas is on there since there is no BLM property in the state save a small bit in the panhandle. Though we do have 3 nat'l forests in th east in addition to the Big Bend in the SW area and a couple of nat'l grasslands that allow dispersed camping. I live in TX but lived in CO for several years and have traveled and kayaked there regularly as well as AZ, UT, NM and am planning a long retirement excursion this summer that takes through AR, OH, CO, UT, NM. AR wasn't on your list but they have 2 great national forests and where I used to paddle up there was on a Weyerhaeuser forest where we could camp for free.

So I’m super brand new to all of this. Videos like this is giving me insight into this endeavor. I said to myself my next adventure trip I want to rent a camper van and just camp somewhere in the van. Having never done this before, how safe is it when you are in a super remote location and it’s just you and the dark sky? Is it better to be around other campers for someone like myself that has never done any camping? I think during the day I would be fine with being alone but not so sure about night time lol.

4 times a year I fly to a destination by myself, rent a large suv and buy a 30$ air mattress fro. Walmart, then head out into the wilderness and camp in the suv. It's amazing g and I've always felt safe, if there's no one around there's no one to bother you. Just do it!
