@@MrGizmo5602 it's funny because I think 3D printing is partly to blame. Because everything is digital, there are no limits to how big you can make statues now. They keep making them bigger, people run out of room and they stop buying. Bigger also means higher price/shipping.

In going to agree too many Batman’s and jokers out there. Honestly I have to be picky and buy the ones I like.. the blue gray Neil Adams Batman is my fav. Though loved Batman 1989 and the dark knight with bale.. now trying to get horror pieces now since they don’t make it many variations of it

It’s all about how many they can sell. They only made 1,500 of Penguin and he doesn’t seem to be selling out any time soon. But they can sell many thousands of Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and Wolverine online and in comic shops. Most people won’t shell out the big bucks for secondary characters.

Its the prices that kills it, at least for me. Other thing is the flood of statues to me there is not one thing that stands out where I think "I have to have this special piece" where I am willing to put money in the hand. When I see something special it's most of the time an older statue you can't get anymore.

Love your chanel Mike,Ive been collecting for nearly 3 years now and have really enjoyed the hobby. Ive learnt alot,been disappointed with pieces I've received for various reasons but also been elated with others or bargains I've managed to get my hands on. The prices are certainly going up and the novelty for me has certainly slowed somewhat but im super happy with my collection and certainly have my eye on a few more due out at the end of the year so who knows what the future will bring. Resale is being killed by it and that is going to price out lots of people in the market and turn this into a rich man’s game especially if you know you can’t fund your new piece with the sale of a old piece.

my fire in regards to collecting went out some years ago but was rekindled recently. I'd even say its on an all time high at the moment. I also sell statues (to make space) and theres a clear uptrend. my biggest issue still are shipping prices but I like the lower ES on pieces. Feels more like collectibles again than when literally every piece had an ES of 1000+. market needed to slow down.

Too many Joker statues! Too many Wolverine Statues! Too many Batman statues! Don’t get me wrong, the variances in them make most (but NOT all) of them cool to own. What get’s me is why some characters, like Pennywise, have not been made in 1/4 scale. (Did I just miss that one?). Also, there are a number of X-Men characters that the licensed companies have overlooked…….while they’re making another Wolverine or Batman or Iron Man. Love this hobby because I love collecting to rekindle and re-live my childhood through these great statues, but I’m challenged by licensed (and unlicensed) manufacturers repeating the same characters over…..and over….and over…. For me, I haven’t bought any new statues for awhile now. And it’s not like there hasn’t been anything good coming out. It’s just the prices of the statues, shipping costs, and space in my house is what’s killing it for me. I’m learning to be content with what I have. Maybe when my kids move out, I’ll have the extra money and space. Then I can start up again. 😆

The problem is reselling. In the old days, you're selling an older piece to fund a new piece, which is basically over..scams, low ball offers, shipping, fees, etc. not worth the hassle.Then prices that the quality dosn'st justify it either. So now, you have too many statues to display. Game over😢

I agree. I’ve definitely been loosing interest, we’re getting to much of the same characters and the prices are getting a bit outta hand. To keep my interest going I’ve been on eBay winning pieces that I missed out on in auctions for way cheaper. This kind of got me back into collecting again. Now it’s the hunt for me and the satisfaction of getting a new piece for below retail price.

I think it's a combination of things... Product teases, reveals taking too long to go up for pre-order and release. Then there's prices going up, shipping skyrocketing, as well as import tax. Many can't be arsed anymore. It's too much of a hassle. A few more pieces on my radar, then I'm taking a step back.

I think companies are misreading the market. There have been several pieces in recent years that have been released that I would have definitely bought day one if they weren't one third scale. It's actually giving my wallet a break because every time I want to pull the trigger the scale size prevents it. 1/3 and larger is just too big and as collectors now years into the hobby we're starting to run out of space. At least I am. I'm at the point now where I would rather dedicate the space to one to three statues instead of just one big one. Large scale statues are great for those who have the space and wallet, but offer a smaller size for those who prefer it and I bet sales go go up.

Another dude explained a lot of it has to do with the actual scales being licensed out. I had no idea they did that. I get the property license, but the size of the piece is preventing people - at least me - from picking up some of my favorite characters coming out.

I’m starting to think it’s true what I read on statue forum years ago that collectors who own multiple statues represent a small percentage of Sideshows customer base. Because of this they mainly cater to the customer who want one statue which is why we get Wolverine, Superman, Batman, Spiderman every couple years. Occasionally they will make an obscure character but they just sit in there warehouse for years. Personally I want to get Deathstroke but like Taskmaster I think due to the pose it takes up too much space.

I agree. I’ve definitely been loosing interest, we’re getting to much of the same characters and the prices are getting a bit outta hand. To keep my interest going I’ve been on eBay winning pieces that I missed out on in auctions for way cheaper. This kind of got me back into collecting again. Now it’s the hunt for me and the satisfaction of getting a new piece for below retail price.

I think it's a combination of things... Product teases, reveals taking too long to go up for pre-order and release. Then there's prices going up, shipping skyrocketing, as well as import tax. Many can't be arsed anymore. It's too much of a hassle. A few more pieces on my radar, then I'm taking a step back.
I have a nice chunk of stuff should be rolling in throughout the rest of the year, but everything you said is correct I’m feeling you Mitch 🔥 is dying I hope it lights up again.
Too many reveals and not enough production. Feels like empty promises from a lot of these companies. And no you may not hold my money for 2 years, those days are long gone. Im enjoying what I currently own and work on my displays which scratches my itch to not have to buy something.

I think companies are misreading the market. There have been several pieces in recent years that have been released that I would have definitely bought day one if they weren't one third scale. It's actually giving my wallet a break because every time I want to pull the trigger the scale size prevents it. 1/3 and larger is just too big and as collectors now years into the hobby we're starting to run out of space. At least I am. I'm at the point now where I would rather dedicate the space to one to three statues instead of just one big one. Large scale statues are great for those who have the space and wallet, but offer a smaller size for those who prefer it and I bet sales go go up.

@@MrGizmo5602 yeah I got a great search response yesterday. I typed in why are statues getting so big so I'm glad this video popped up. Another dude explained a lot of it has to do with the actual scales being licensed out. I had no idea they did that. I get the property license, but the size of the piece is preventing people - at least me - from picking up some of my favorite characters coming out.
I see this now selling brand new for $1200 or 1300 bonus edition . I am new to this hobby and not sure to get this one or wait and see if someone makes another 1\3 Dark Knight Joker ? I only want one large scale one like this. I did order Hot Toys new Joker that one looks good to me but obviously a lot smaller. New subscriber as well 😁
Hi Brian my brother welcome to maiden mikes world. It’s a nice piece but the extra head you have to purchase is the better portrait I believe. What a ripoff blitzway is to make you pay extra for it instead of including it. Nice piece though
I agree Blitzway makes some of the best sculpts out there but I hate that they are plastic. I love statues cause they are heavy and forever. Not into the plastic stuff. I’m getting their 1/4 Rocky, looks amazing. Wish it was 1/3 but hey beggars can’t be choosers lol
Yeah I’m not feeling the plastic thing. I did order that Rocky too. Does not fit my collection, but just so good I could not pass up.

Im much more into the video game statues but I would love to see some LICENSED Final Fantasy and Zelda 1/4 scales. And we know a Triss 1/3 is going to be announced to go with Geralt, the pending release of Yennefer, and the concept of Ciri.

That is an awesome movie, funny thing you mention that movie. Back in the early 90’s I worked at this place for a bit and Stephen Geoffrey’s was working there as a lifeguard. I used to talk to him about the industry all the time.

I’m starting to think it’s true what I read on statue forum years ago that collectors who own multiple statues represent a small percentage of Sideshows customer base. Because of this they mainly cater to the customer who want one statue which is why we get Wolverine, Superman, Batman, Spiderman every couple years. Occasionally they will make an obscure character but they just sit in there warehouse for years. Personally I want to get Deathstroke but like Taskmaster I think due to the pose it takes up too much space.
