    Bro you are like 10....speaking about an S class. It's like 5 years old talking about technology behind solar panels. Drive some shitty cars for a full working week (if you work in office and do 0 physical job then its not for you) and on the weekend go out with a nicer car for reward then you gonna appreciate the feeling of every luxury car.

    Never jump this car on the battery terminals. You will burn the charge sensor out. Like a 100 said, use the jump terminals provided for you under the hood. They are clearly marked.

    You’re definitely right about the headlights 😂😂 the reason I chose my W220 compared to other Mercedes was really because of those split circle headlights I loved the Mercedes of the time but that design was and still is questionable to me and idk if I like it or not 😂 but the S Class was the only 4 door to not have that…… and I was also in the same boat as you where I wanted an LS430 but even high mileage ones were so expensive whereas I got a 1 owner garage kept and less than 100k miles 2002 S430 for like $5k….. and so far owning it has been a good experience.

    Im having a debate between a 2002 S500 class, a 2003 S500 class with peanut butter interior OR a CL500. What do you think bro?

  • @bentley_chen
    @bentley_chen2 ай бұрын

    Me personally, if it's the same price and condition, I'd go for the CL because it's more special. That said I'm sure it's not a 1-to-1 comparison between insurance, maintenance, features and etc.

  • @loweyes6457

    @@bentley_chen the CL500 has 164k miles and the S classes have 126k and one has 112k

    #2 The battery annoyance - on my 2000 C230 Kompressor there's a manual key you can use to open the trunk. Not sure if you're missing the key or they incorporated that feature into later years of the model run.

    Did you know there's an analogue key in the fob? Yes, you can unlock the trunk and doors with a dead battery.... .. otherwise a lot of misinformation...

  • @bentley_chen
    @bentley_chen8 ай бұрын

    As I mentioned in the dozens of comment replies before you and in the video itself, the horrible rust-proofing for Canadian weather seized the keyhole of the trunk, making it impossible to open with an analogue key

    You can use the mechanical key to open the trunk in case of a dead battery. Just turn the mechanical key to the left until it stops and push in the key and button. You dont even have to open the trunk, there are two terminals to the right of the engine bay that can be used for jump starting.

  • @bentley_chen
    @bentley_chen8 ай бұрын

    Unfortunately the terrible rust-proofing for Canadian weather seized up the keyhole of the trunk, making it impossible to open mechanically! Luckily those living in warmer and drier climates likely don't have to deal with this issue

    Lol I feel you. I have always been a Toyota guy, and by accident I ended up owning my current car which is the pre-facelift w220. I initially hated the whole concept of the car, but as I started driving it (nobody wanted to buy it so might as well use it to go to work instead of a bus) I started to grow into it. It is a very comfortable and effortless car to drive. There are couple of minor faults but I am planning to fix them when weather gets warmer. Also my fiance is a car painter by profession so I am planning on fixing any rust patches too. I think I will keep on driving with this car until it totally fails... And it seems it might take a very long time

    I think we should remember that you’re reviewing a 15 year old W220, not a W220. Very different. Cars get very worn out after 15+ years and will be a very different experience to when it was new

  • @fruitpunch5260
    @fruitpunch5260 Жыл бұрын

    I remember getting chauferred in one of these when I was a kid, and it was the first time I’d been in an S class Mercedes. I had such high expectations, but the centre armrest in the backseat creaked every time you leant on it. This one issue ruins the entire experience of this car. When you’re paying so much, and expect Mercedes solidity, something like a creaky armrest is unacceptable. It is this lack of attention to detail that makes this S class very underwhelming. In saying that, I do love the exterior design.

    Love my Kompressor. 2000 model with 220K miles and runs great. Never a problem except when the rodents got under the hood and chewed the wiring and vacuum lines. EZ fix but what a pain. Being a Southern California model, rust was never an issue. Paint still looks great.
