    I’m only 13 but rn my life goal is to go to Juilliard for music major, I play violin, not for long but I’m still playing every day for about 30+ but soon I’m raising my practice time to 2 hours, also CONGRATS for getting into the collages you wanted

    Consider joining a youth orchestra if you already haven’t. Juliard is extremely competitive, and most people who get in are apart of well known-youth symphony orchestras!

    What I will never understand about high schoolers like yourself is that it's not so much the university you end up attending that impacts your life but the actual major that you end up choosing. Since your major will determine what career path you will take since what also matters is accredidation. For example, my school UT El Paso has the exact same ABET accredidation as Harvard and MIT for our electrical engineer program. Where we have graduates including myself who have been offered to work for fortune 500 companies. Where my starting salary for one of them is $86,000 per year plus a 10% yearly bonus if the auto company performs well. And I earned that by attending a school that is not nearly as famous as the schools in your list. Where my point is that high schoolers should focus more on what major they actually want to study instead of wasting countless hours applying to universities that have the exact same accredidation as your local community college and state school that are right by where you live. And FYI companies don't care really what school you attend lol I've interned with one of the worlds biggest aerospace companies where we have graduates from UCLA all the way to Harvard. So in the end you end up getting the exact same job as that college student who took out $60,000 in loans to go to an out of state school. Now if you have scholarships then fine by me but if you don't which is the majority of people just keep it cheap to get the exact same piece of paper where your diploma will read the exact same as fancy school diplomas. And don't waste countless hours applying to 20+ schools like this person, I'm not hating but I know people at my school that even start at six figures at places like IBM and Microsoft. So don't be that person where after applying to 20+ schools you end up changing your major 3 times since you never invested your time in doing research into what jobs your chosen major can have you doing which includes how much you will be making. I cannot tell you the amount of times I've seen a dance or music major switch to engineering or business when they find out that you make next to nothing doing those types of majors.

  • @bobgangsta1823

    @@BostonTessie How are those schools bad examples? Their name brand schools like every school in this persons list lol. What I am saying is that if your not even from the area of where these desirable schools are located why bother in applying to them? When you can literally get the exact same education for less at easier to get in schools.

  • @BostonTessie
    @BostonTessie2 жыл бұрын

    @@bobgangsta1823 In your example, you used two elite schools. You didn’t say something like “x x community college and Harvard” therefore it was a bad example. Because UCLA AND Harvard are great schools. So your point doesn’t make any sense. Not sure how else to explain it.

    Congratulations! I'm a Dartmouth '20. Hanover is a magical place, and I'm so happy you have the chance to study there. At the College -- talented peers, caring and invested faculty, clubs, talks, fellowships galore. In the Upper valley -- more hiking, skiing, etc. than you can imagine, and the most open, friendly and down-to-earth people you'll meet. I'm glad this admissions cycle was a growth experience and not simply draining. Naturally, you've got to make the best decision for yourself, and I'm confident you'll succeed wherever you end up, but if it's Dartmouth, then I'm glad to be among the first to welcome you to the Big Green family. ^^

    Dartmouth is a top-tier university, therefore there are no “higher-ranked schools” than this, since individual ranks within the top tier fluctuate wildly from year to year enough to be irrelevant.

    Congrats! Dartmouth '12 here. Not sure if my views are still current, but thought I'd comment because I started at Dartmouth as a music major. I ultimately changed majors, but was still very much able to pursue music as a hobby and I integrated it into various other courses. Ten years after graduating, I'm very grateful for my education and fully believe it's provided many great personal and professional opportunities for me. Best of luck!
