Well they dump sewage into the ocean when it storms. That alone would make you want freshwater.

Palm Beach county stands as a wonderful example to Dade and Broward of what responsible gov't can do to preserve nature. Miami Beach, North Miami Beach and Aventura are so developed that there is no natural beauty along the coast. It is really sad to see. We love hiking through the preserves and enjoy all the variety of vegetation. Thank you for sharing.

Sweet! This is great! My mom is a snow bird, and I am arriving in March with my daughter who loves snorkeling! I have my PADI, and I am really pumped to explore with her! I have gone exploring around Dubois (shame about the ancient Seminole henge that was used to make a roadway... brutal.) Looking forward to checking these spots out. It's cold here in Ottawa today... hard to think about swimming! But the water temp looks to be about 24-25C. Good enough!

Great idea. Good for you folks. Up here in Wisconsin, we have opened up most all lakes and county parks to bowfishing the carp species at all times of the year. Really has made a dent in the invasive population. Still have much work to do.

Florida is literally the state of Quicksand. It’s practically everywhere, especially in the part of the state that I live in. I’ve been down to my chin in the stuff. Playing around in quicksand is actually great exercise. You’ll use muscles you didn’t even know you had in order to escape from it. I can tell when I’m really out of shape because after a quicksand adventure, my legs will be sore sore that I can barely walk anymore. It’ll take up to a week for them to fully recover. But when I’m in good shape, getting back out isn’t a challenge at all. So if you’re going to be out doing quicksand adventures, it’s important to be in really great shape. Otherwise, the follow-on days will be extremely painful.

If thats big Gaftop then you need to fish the gulf coast in Texas. We used to catch them when I was a kid in Rockport, and we would throw back fish that size. Heck, the Texas state record Gaftop is 13 pounds and 34 inches. There's no way thats a record.
