    I meant to ask this after you answered my last question. But do 6x6 trucks of this size actually function well off road? Everyone on the internet has a different opinion on this but the military uses a ton of trucks like this. Like Hennessy dos a bunch of 6x6 trucks but those are just pointless toys. Oh and to increase maneuverability, will the rear axel also have steering ability? I know that someone once stole a Raptor 6x6 in LA a few years ago and the police caught them in like 15 mins because it had no maneuverability whatsoever.

  • @captaintf7759
    @captaintf775914 күн бұрын

    I forgot to be more clear on the military trucks. Those things are huge so I understand why a 6x6 configuration works. Civilian sized trucks (while still enormous) don’t seem to benefit. At least from what I’ve seen. I am talking about the Australian 6x6 conversions that are done to the Toyotas they have over there.

  • @JACKKNIFEMOTORS
    @JACKKNIFEMOTORS14 күн бұрын

    That was the Sparks Motors 6x6 that was built for the DJ Marshmallow. I have actually driven the truck itself and surprisingly it has the same turning radius as stock. That truck did not have lockers on it... this one will.

  • @captaintf7759
    @captaintf775914 күн бұрын

    @@JACKKNIFEMOTORSthat is a remarkably poor turning radius. But then I suppose that if a truck like that had a regular turning radius it would end up falling over at speed. Are you guys planning on putting bigger breaks on this vehicle? It’s always so weird for me to see 10k plus lbs vehicles have tinny breaks. Like come on guys don’t save money on breaks.

    Just curious🤔, but wouldn't it been easier to just use the whole rockwell axle and just cut the ends off and put the ford hubs on with custom axles and suspension. And Correct me if im wrong, but the f550 comes from the factory with the square tube big truck style rear end for the weight capacity. Where as the axle you showed at the beginning of the video was more for a f450 since they still use the cast iron center section with weld in axle tubes.

  • @Aaron-JackknifeMotors
    @Aaron-JackknifeMotors17 күн бұрын

    Initially we were going to use the M300 out of a 2017+ (these have a 4.5” round tube) We ended up going with a s110 which is pre 2017 (these do have square axle tubes). The square tube dimensions are different between the Rockwell and s110. It’s not like we could just sleeve one into the other and also the snouts are still round. The route we went allowed a .375 faceplate the we can mill flat, have proper pinion offset, self fixtured, went together really fast and it’s aesthetically pleasing. 450 and 550 have utilized the same axles throughout the years. In conclusion our intermediate is a s110/hybrid (square from a 15’ f550) our rear is a m300 (round from a 23’ f550)
