Broncstomper's Adventures

Broncstomper's Adventures

Peace, happiness, and adventure.

Howdy y'all,

I'm exploring the states in a 2018 F250 gas truck, pulling an rv toy hauler, with a 2003 Honda VTX cruiser motorcycle, or a KLR 650, depending on the location.

I'm hoping to fill in some gaps of knowledge on KZread that I'm not finding on the internet for the stuff I buy and install. And as I get into this KZread process, I'll start getting some adventure videos out there.

I'm working on starting a campground/nature preserve oasis (they're not exclusive of each other) in the northeast Wyoming Black Hills region.

Bud, not many people are going to sit through a 5 minute crapomercial at the start to actually watch the video.

I used old water hose instead of conduit- looks kinda cheesy but brother after 40 years they are still there. Was shipping expensive-

I don't recall shipping price... I'm thinking it was an all in price on that sale.

I mounted mine feet forward today in an ARB bumper. It requires you to clock the clutch and it needs a relocation kit to move control box somewhere else. I bought a warn relocation kit for 100$.

All the changes sound great, I think we'll expedite the updates for the winch!👊

You installed it wrong if you if you read the instructions you’re supposed to mount it on the front not the bottom

I've just left it open so far and haven't messed with it a lot. Been busy with other things and it doesn't look too bad just at a glance after a few thousand (mostly highway and gravel road) miles. I haven't done any mudding or rough off roading. The one line in the bumper installation instructions about mounting the higher load rated winches feet forward is purely about the hole pattern. The Fab 4 tech support people said it doesn't matter to the bumper either direction. Some winches have different bolt patterns. I asked them about it before I asked the Open Road people about it. The bumper instructions turned out to be mostly wrong and incomplete. They sent me some other photos and emails to help me get it put together. And even if it was installed feet forward, the power cables still go straight up and block the cover. I specifically asked the open road winch tech support about that and spent an entire evening of about 4 hours talking with them because they couldn't visualize the bumper. Once they figured out the photos and what I was asking, they said that this winch absolutely, under no circumstances, gets installed with the feet forward. It will break the winch.

All you need to use is a regular size, but thick contractor, plastic bag! Bring it up and around and then use a zip tie around where the wires are close it

And now I know my fingers are longer than the phone camera lens and I need to hold it differently.
