Not to be a stickler but the title says 2003. This made me curious because the engine still had dogbone mounts in the front and also the battery was to the left under the hood. What model was this lesabre if you dont mind me asking? Also great video, sounded beautiful on startup.

I got to see it in action more than once and also it’s “kind of” twin the Silver Spade. It was altogether different than watching Big Muskie as it was a literal dragline and these two were closer to dragline excavators. It’s like watching 3-4 story buildings that move around acting like machines. When I was a kid, things like these were the spark for my imagination.

It IS a shame that these giant mining machines are all gone. What is even worse is that the MEANS to build those machines are also gone. Even if we magically restored the heavy smokestack industries and all the backstory to making stuff like the Gem and Big Muskie, the PEOPLE have long lost the knowledge and industrial habits that make it all work. In short, we couldn't build great things, like these mining machines, if our lives depended on it.

Watched your video and I hope mine is this vacuum line? My ac has started to barely blow out the vents and mostly in the floor still cold but 80% out the floor and 20% through the vents and in 105 degree days that sucks. For the folks that have their ac only blowing cold out one side that is usually a sign of being low on Freon.

Thanks for the great video. Gem of Egypt videos are scares as hen's teeth. I enjoyed it much. There is something about watching the big shovels work that is calming, if I turn the sound down some. I guess the smoothness and ease with which they dig up and move a few hundred thousand pounds of dirt, with just one bucket full, is cathartic.

In early 2022 I finally figured out what the problem was. I had to replace the keypad entry panel on the driver's door after it was damaged at a car wash. I ordered one from eBay and replaced it and it never worked properly. I got inside the door and disconnected it and the problem vanished. Go figure.
