Musk took over Twitter: closed my (little used) account. Maybe now’s the time to shut down my Insta account(s). After all these years it seems like it’s time to make VERO my only social media presence. As if anyone cares anyway.

Well at least Instagram is giving the creator the option to choose that sticker to be placed on the video. It would be one thin* if it automatically put it on there when you didn’t use A.I.

I disagree. I think there should be laws passed (similar to having to disclose sponsorship on YT) to make it mandatory to disclose any AI generation, removal, enhancement. No loop holes. We are moving into a new era of human existence, that frankly, our brains and society are not ready for. While I have issues with content certification implementation I still believe it’s warranted and justified.

Okay, but this entire discussion is assuming Instagram can magically "know" whether a photo is actually manipulated with AI, or that people won't lie about it. The whole bit about whether you should or shouldn't label it shows how useless these kinds of tools become. Once we opened Pandora's box with this tech, the witch hunt in response has become equally ridiculous. There's no winning now. :/

Someone answer me a question... Peter had a roll of film in his freezer. I never did this in the 1970's or the 1980's. I'm just getting back into film photography after acquiring a Canon Ftb-QL . What is the point of putting it in the freezer. My thinking is freezing would mess with the chemical emulsion in the film.

We can't remove a ketchup stain off a table - But fashion photos or magazine covers of models who have been edited to the typical unrealistic version of perfection will never have a disclaimer. When is it art and when should it be labeled... When is it enhancement and when is it too much? As we navigate this new AI realm, I suppose time will tell. AS ALWAYS Thank you for your insight and talent and leading by example. You are sincerely the best of the best on YT.

Honestly guys just learn photoshop. I’m happy for this tag because it’s great for actual art directors who know what to do with an image unlike someone, who uses the right prompts or automated replacements. I guess y’all gotta book some freelancers for that again :D

Hmm, couldn’t one just strip the data from an image file technically to get rid of the “indicators?” Then just use an Exif writer to load your personal info and bam… indicators be gone. Anything can always be reversed engineered. And if these f*** heads want to label everything as “AI” they should read Sontag’s “On Photography” and read the line that photography its self is a lie always. The very act of making a photo is distorted reality by camera and lens choice, not to mention the many other variables that never make it “truth.” Hence, we have really lived in the Matrix for forever and it is all AI. 😂

Instagram is a hot mess right now. I'm a bladesmith that mostly makes kitchenware, and their AI has told almost all of us doing this work that we're offensive and our work can't be shown to non followers... Their overreaching is going to be the downfall of their app...

The real problem is people will treat the tag as proof. The tone and vagueness of the tag is perfect for numpty vetting of images. Imagine posting someone else’s photo to check if they’re telling the truth. Or a photo from a news story, improperly tagged. Numpty logic holds the tag must be true and infallible.
