My favorite song of all time! Jackson Browne taught me about activism & fighting for what’s right. And then we have Rosemary Butler… One of the best female singers alive. I treasure every experience I’ve ever been lucky enough to have seeing him live. ✌️🫶

As much as Browne's handsome face and great music, I love his haircut! He looks inviting, not scraggly like so many other rockers.

For all the flack Mike Love gets from some Beach Boys fans, he does a very passable vocal here and works the crowd well. It is a simple 2 chord song, with a key change before the "Beads and Roman sandals" line. Easy to sing but you still need to deliver. Respect to Merle Haggard and The Beach Boys. They should have kept it in the set for ever.

Seriously? Did NOBODY even attempt to cover Brian's major falsetto melody part in this song??? Weird. I wouldn't expect my local bar band to think they could get away with doing this song without that part!

They definitely did, or at least Brian did. But Pet sounds wouldn't be the same without it. Edit - It seems Mike (Who is singing lead) only did Mariana briefly before he discovered transcendental meditation in the late 60s, and gave it up seemingly for good.
