7:55 - what’s that tool called?
I really like the three dimensional targets because you can be presented with different aspects and you have to consider locations of the vital organs. Granted, they cost a lot more than paper. lol
LAKE 💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦
Nice . A pistol hunting bolt that doesn't break the second it comes out of the packaging . But is it accurate? You should do a video where ten of them are shot at a single point on a target at 15 meters. If it groups, then I buy
Apparently we have been working on innovative ways to kill each other for ages
The word that the Arab man referred to as " فولاد جوهری" is not Arabic at all. Arabs pronounce the Persian word "پولاد" as "فولاد" because they do not have the letter "p". They also pronounce the word "گوهر" as "جوهر" because they do not have the letter "g". If you read verhoeven's book yourself, you will see that he mostly talks about India and Iran, not Arabs.
Is that young Ray Mears at the start l 2:07
Cool video!
One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Thank you very much. Greetings from Germany ☺️
So many innacuracies from this Mike fellow, hard to watch. Japanese bows aren't made from sappling they are made of bamboo traditionally. Humans aren't the only species that have war......I could go on but i have better things to do with my time. ✌️
The most interesting video on KZread, that I’ve seen. It’s a shame that more enthusiast-produced footage isn’t available, instead we get clickbait junk, or if even vaguely controversial it’s censored by the Guugle mavens.
Your video about archery was very helpful and this preview of early pistols is fascinating. Would love to see more!
A great account on the history of archery. What I was missing is the story of the Mongolian, Hun and native North American tribes, namely the Comanches and of course, Lars Andersen, the most outstanding archer in my mind, and mounted archers like Lajos of Hungary.
The popularity of archery is astounding and increasing exponentially. Grew up with recurves in 50s, Dad was an archer. Target. All compounds now. Point of pride: The compound was invented (or perfected or commercialized??) by Wilbur Holless Allen in the small town of Billings, just down the road from where I live in the Missouri Ozarks.
England, and the english people were such weirdos! Really strange people!😂😅🤣
Those modern bows, WHY does the archer let the bow upper limb roll forward......it looks rather more "artistic " than any other reason I can think of🙄
Great video
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it
It’s a pity that the film has not been translated into Russian(
Crossbow is my favorite 😊
Even today, with my simple bow and arrows, I have been able to defy, easily, the claims of many historians. So, I know the scientific community, today, has something about it that is out of touch with reality. Never trust anyone that lays claim to anything that they have never mastered. Namely, scientists.
I cannot for the life of me understand banning bowhunting in the UK.... it makes zero sense to me. Same with atlatl or spear in areas where bowhunting is still very important to us, and cheaper, and quieter, makes no sense.
Very well done documentary
So good
More please . I ll watch anything you put up .
Many thanks for the encouragement. I'll see what I can do.
I've been following Mike Loades' content for a couple of decades now. Thanks for another.
My uncle, Don Warren, passed away last year. He loved archery and was the Canadian Champion many times in both indoor and outdoor national events and was on the Canadian world championship team at the World Championships in Grenoble and Canberra in the 70s. For some reason, I was thinking about him today and missing him and the two other uncles I lost in less than a year’s time, and thought I’d see just what I could find about the history of the bow and arrow. This is a very interesting and informative documentary, and it’s so well done. Thank you for posting it!
Stacy Groscup, Fred Bear.
👍👍😁
Damascus steel has its origin in south india....steel pillar in delhi india is rustless after 1600 years is perfect example of this technique.....
Thank You Mike !
What kind of wood is used To make a very strong bow And arrows
The traditional wood for an English longbow is yew.
Carbon 14 is in coal. Therefore they cannot zero the process. We cannot know the age of anything requiring Carbon 14.
My uncle was a member of the Royal Toxophilite Society & I remember shooting at Dunstable sometime in the first half of the 70's as a kid. I was given a suitable sized bow & I can remember the formality & totally embarrassing myself by forgetting the rules and ambling off downrange causing all sorts of shouts, whistles & a right bollocking from my uncle! I still blush thinking about it! Ok, I was in single digits but as an only child I had no concept of childhood. I still kick myself! At the Royal Tock's too! 😳
Thanks for the wonderful video, and a huge thanks for not ruining it with crappy background music. I don't know why some people are compelled to add annoying background music throughout their videos.
Absolutely brilliant as always. I've said it before but i'll say it again - you could present the phone book and we'd all lap it up! Can't wait to see the films that you bring to this channel!
Well that is encouraging,. Thank you!
@@loadesofhistory My pleasure!
Great, thanks.
I'd love to see you talk about the items and equipment soldiers would carry in the medieval times, personal items cooking stuff weapons etc To be honest though you could make a 2 hour documentary on how to dust furniture and I'd watch, your enthusiasm is infectious!
Much respect for Mike, amazing talent.
if i see mike loades I click and I watch and I like ain't much more to it 😤😤
I love this guy but holy shit all of the ads about concealed carry weapons is scary
A great surprise! I'd completely forgotten I'm subscribed to your channel. In my opinion any arms and armor history is great.
I thought this had been abandoned. I'd assumed it was meant for existing documentaries but attempts to get the rights off the BBC had failed. Nice to see new content.
Thanks for the video. love your content. Would like to see anything about Civil War era weapons and kit if you can find the time.
Hello Mike, glad to see you in good health after your fall. I'ld love to see/hear your thoughts on the Anglo Portuguese alliance and whether you think it was worth it for Portugal. Although I fear that might take more than eight minutes to cover :)
Great information and wonderful to see Mike's new video. Please keep them coming.
Great to see content on this channel again. More please!
what few of us in the historical arms community know is that most of the arms shown in this film are still being produced for sale to those persons in nations that allow private ownership of arms , or where such is a protected right of the citizen
Glad to see new video. It's been awhile.
2:36 ... yes, YES !!
I had no idea Mike Loades had a KZread channel. I'm currently reading Swords and Swordsmen and am enjoying it immensely. I look forward to your future videos as well.
Many thanks and also very happy to hear you're enjoying Swords and Swordsmen.
A most pleasant surprise. Thanks for making and sharing!
mike! great to see you back! I could honestly watch anything but have always been curious about riverene warfare.
