I am 16 and i really really want this car. Do you think it’s worth me spending money on it.
As long as you find a good deal on it then yes, but if you feel it’s too expensive, then it is too expensive and keep looking. It’s an old car now, it will need a lot of maintenance and up keep which is hard to do when you’re younger and need something reliable every day.
Bought my 04 new and would never sell. I feel like I have something special on the road. Uncommon. I know people are thinking ‘nice’ or rediscovering when they see a lowered excellent condition Celica. Besides exotics, what looks better?
from your outro you mentioned you want to swap in a 1jz vvti. if you are going to engine swap, why not put in a 2jz from an aristo for example?
I solely want a 1JZ vvti for the sound and noise it makes, nothing else lol. I know the 2JZ is a better engine and can make more power but that doesn’t interest me. Also the vvti comes single turbo stock which really simplifies things.
@@MateoM how can you put a x100 engine in an x90 chassis? Would you need a link ecu for an x100 and then figure out the pins that are different coming from the x90 harness?
The engine will fit exactly where it needs to be so no new mounts or anything. It’s just wiring changes. People in Japan and a few JZX90s here have a vvtis in their 90s running stock ECU. One route I’ve heard but have not done myself is to get if you have a jzx110 1jz, a harness from JZS171 crown, 2j vvti ecu, and find a different plug for the maf wire and it was good to go. I’m sure there’s much more involved but that’s the basic idea. Depending how complex this gets, it may be easier/more time efficient to just get a new engine harness made from scratch from panic wiring and run a standalone and call it good.
What was weight of trailer and car ?
I have the numbers at the very end of the video explaining the weights. The Honda civic is close to 2700 lbs. the trailer is probably in the 1500-1800 weight range. I can’t recall at the moment. But thank you for watching!
I personally have the 2002 TRD package, still working on the weight reduction, but it is pretty fun tu drive. Your car looks pretty clean.
Thanks for the comment! And ya I used to do the weight reduction mods but now a days I just really enjoy it as a daily so all interior has to stay in lol. It’s a lot of fun to drive, that will ever change!
Are you still stock twins?
Yes sir, still stock twins. Just straight pipe to a resonator, then blast pipes now.
The more I watch Celica videos I don’t think I’ll ever sell my 04 mica blue GTS 6mt with 53k original miles.
I drive my '02 Celica GTS 6-speed as well as much as I can and it has only 140k since I drive my other cars as well.
I drive my '02 Celica GTS 6-speed as well as much as I can and it has only 140k since I drive my other cars as well.
This is how I also ended up with this celica again. Saw some KZread videos about our celicas, which led me back to my old KZread videos I made about my turbo one and now we’re here. Haha thank you for watching!
DUDE!! NO WAY!!! I watched your videos all the time as i contemplated turboing mine after swapping a new motor and trans in, did a C.A.I, header, exhaust and than a pfc and Monkey Wrench Racings map, it was a nice little setup, sometimes i wish i would have just kept that had a nice reliable daily to rip around in, but after i saw you build this one i said screw it, came across an old C2 Gas turbo kit and snatched it up bought a whole bunch of other odds and ends, she runs great for not being put on a dyno and profesionally tuned, running real rich, but it was something i just always wanted to do, glad to see you back on here bro, hope all is well, happy easter , take it easy man!!
Thanks for watching man! Crazy to think how long ago it was when I had my turbo celica. Happy to hear yours is running! The 2zz with a turbo charger sounds incredible.
Pricing expensive? Errr, what?!!
What I meant by Pricing expensive is it’s a big price step up from what others may be used too. Going on Amazon/ebay and getting a front lip for $50-$100, to having to get a body kit shipped from Japan for $2500 is big difference. Not only body pieces but specific items as well. Some parts exist in the US but not everything. Thank you for watching!
I like my exhaust sound a lot, but it is TOO loud in the cabin. I'm thinking of taking it to a shop and having them weld on a mid muffler. I still want it to be loud, but just a little quieter
A mid muffler will help! But I agree, in cabin it can be pretty loud, especially if you roll the windows down. Win some lose some lol. Sounds amazing at high rpm but you have to deal with it lol. Thank you for watching!
What do you guys suggest as a young 22 year old college graduate. I have 30k cash for a cool car as i plan on buying a house and "growing up" but i need one toy before i leave my parents. jzx is my dream car but is it worth it? that or i pay double and get a bow with a b58. (canadian prices)
30k as a 22 year old is a lot of money man. I would Invest that else where before dumping it all into a money pit of a car to be completely honest. Especially if you want to buy a house one day. What I did with my jzx was take a loan and paid it off in 3 years. Mean while I Kept all my money in a high yield savings account. I am Currently house shopping now in the USA and it’s brutal in our area, so I’m glad I’ve had extra money stashed away. Just food for thought. Thanks for watching and commenting man. Good luck!
that laugh though @ 12:07 that's how u know he loves his car hahaha men and their toys lols
I appreciate these videos because I want a jzx90 in the future so this puts everything into a realistic perspective before I buy. Thank you sir
i have a gx90, what’s the best options to run for brakes, tie rods, wheel size? tire size?
Anyone know what’s a good price is for a gt or gts? Located FL
not sure why im watching this, bought my x90 a year ago and been mint since, bloody nice camrys
I really appreciate the view and comment either way! My dad has a 2010 Camry and I have this, they feel and sound the same (interior Toyota beeps and noises wise) just 20 years apart haha. Enjoy your x90!

I'm glad you got back to your Celica.. I can't even part ways with my Celica GTS.
It was really difficult for me to part ways with it the first time. I’m glad I was able to this one! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I paid 2 loaf of breads back in 1930 for a JZX i ain't paying 69,420 for one. 😭 It is what it is. These car die every day the ones we see are the one who live another day/year. With every year they become harder and harder to comeby. Prices will only rise and won't fall.
It really be like that and unfortunately just part of time moving on. I agree with you. That’s why I made video to warn anybody who does get into these cars to know what to expect. So many influencers out there that tell people about these cars for clicks and views, and those people buy these cars thinking they’ll get fame/clout like them, but may not know the reality of owning it. If you buy a car with the intention of it not being for yourself to enjoy, it’s already a lost cause. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hey man started watching your channel recently because I'm interested in getting a jzx100. For almost 10k is it worth in your opinion to get an auto jzx for that price ?
@@aldo55odst Is it 1jz? Where do you live? Do you not mind being looked everywhere you go? I'd say it's worth it. 1jz with manuals are going for 15k+ You can find other models for 7k. I plan on selling two in California for 6k and another for 8k. Both are 1gfe. But good chassis to use if wanting to drift or a nice daily. One thing if you live in California, if you want to buy an import car if you can buy two of the same vehicle then you can afford one. I say you should definitely buy it before someone else buys the car.
You got the wrong car
how you gonna say the window not working is a "dislike" ? The car is 25years old.... fix it bruh?
You right you right. But then I couldn’t have made this KZread video complaining… lolol. It’s something minor but you’d be surprised the people who buy these cars and are shocked when they can’t find replacement parts stateside
Those pov clips where you screaming with excitement, made my drift heart happy !
Haha so many times I was drifting there I got hit with the wave of “Omg I’m actually here doing this wtf” which translates to me screaming “wooo” haha thanks for watching man!
I like it more youtubers need to follow this format, nobody cares about your crew of merch wearing yes men wearing the same black shirts, your food you ate before the day, your dog, your mental health, and your 5 other cars. So many videos feel padded and lined with bs to keep watch time up. Just a REAL DUDE doing a REAL track day not a glamor show! Just show me the laps and nothing but the laps and maybe some analysis on the track layout, your technique or what your could do better ect. W idea and you should stick to it
That’s a big problem I’m seeing now a days. Watching car KZreadrs and after a while they start to feel like the exact same person with the same setup. Very few car youtubers are able to do something unique, but unfortunately the big car KZreadrs that do the bs stuff get the most views to appeal to bigger audiences. I will 100% keep this format for my own track day videos. I appreciate the feedback and the comment! Thank you for watching
@@MateoM roger that, ill keep my eye out for new ones in the future
i was moving extremely slow I put the gear ratios on a calculator and my wheel speed at 101mph, so just blowing the tires off.
Geeezzzz hahah I remember we lowered the rears to 15psi and that helped some… but still it was basically an ice rink out there. But we got some good testing in, I’m ready for anything now lmao
Awesome video mate thank you for sharing your thoughts on the JZX90... We have had all 4 window regulators go on ours.
Wow, all four regulators have gone out! That is crazy but yes that’s one of the issues with these cars. Thank you for the comment and watching the video!
very nice built!
Thank you! We have a way to go to make it look nice but the fact it is running and driving is already a huge win. Thank you for watching!
congrats on 1k btw
Thank you! Can’t believe it tbh. Thanks for watching and being a subscriber!
@MateoM welcome, ull make it to 2k soon
nice lets hope its back on the track in 2 days
i did is300 front suspension on the mark 2
I got a jzx100 mark 2 for 2,500 lol dedaling with crossmember fitment issues rn.
Once you go for the Celica, you’ll forever be damned in Celica hell lol this car is so sexy and charming and it’s understandable that you’ve obtained it twice. If you sell it one day, there’ll be another time… 😏
Haha I agree. That’s why I’m back to owning one after so long. It was haunting me in my dreams haha. I’m glad to be able to own one again. Thank you for watching and the comment!
We’re you still running stock arms? Because I know with the s9 subframe kit it’s required to have aftermarket arms
Still running stock arms. Been using the stock arms and the subframe reinforcement kit for 3 years now with zero issue. I do need to get rear arms to help dial in my suspension settings. But as it, it’s been perfect
An aftermarkt exhaust is not stock.
You’re right. It’s just the exhaust that came on the car so I called it stock in the video. It was a cobbled together exhaust from a JZX100 and JZX90. But it was so quiet compared to what I have now it might as well have been stock haha
My dad's got a tundra and it's so happy to drag 8,000 lbs of trailer through the mountains over and over again. You'd think you'd notice some strain at 80% of max towing capacity but there is absolutely none.
I believe it! I’ve seen some crazy videos of people using two car trailers with their Toyota tundras and it not breaking a sweat. Sure it’s probably getting 3 MPG but it’s getting the job done.
@@MateoM we get maybe 6 but we have the stock 36 gallon tank as well as an under-bed 44 gallon auxiliary tank so we’re good on fuel lol
Hello, good thing you reunited with this car,i first saw celicas in underground 2 but never really here in Romania,i just love them pretty rare in this country but have seen them at JDM meets, I will try to buy one when i have around 4.5K euros, since in germany, netherlands and france a decent living one is...if you look into them here in Europe there are very few celicas wich have sunroofs including GTS and GT's for some reason, anyways have fun with your car and safe roads dude, I will wait for more content with this car to learn from!
Thank you for the comment and watching the video! Crazy to think people from Europe are watching my videos haha. I will definitely be posting more on this car soon! Hopefully you find a good celica over there. I am very jealous that in Europe there are more non sunroofs.
You're complaining about things breaking on a 30 y.o car. Bro, sell it and buy yourself a new altima or something.

No problem! And thank you for watching
i wish i could buy something similiar in europe /poland
Are these expensive over by where you live in Europe?
@@MateoM yea the ts version cost a lot 192 hp for 7-10 k dollars atleast and most are in shit conditions and 5 k for 143 hp version
@@wolfik2552ouch, those prices hurt to read. Hopefully one day you can find one, it took me about 4-5 months to find this one.
@@MateoM yea even cars like toyota rav4 i read u could buy one for 23k usd from 2021 and in poland it's 1.5/2 more prices are weird in todays market every car is expensive i got old corolla from 98 1.3
One love Toyota Celica forever ❤
i want one im saving for it!
I hope you find a good one! Good luck on the search.
So glad you are re-united with the Celica. I own 2 Celicas. One I had since 2005 second owner and another I restored from junkyard and customized. I recently turbo'ed one of my Celicas and DAMN it is FUN FUN FUN!!!! It truly is a fun daily commuter car. But I love my Celicas so much.
That is awesome! I am sure the turbo celica is doing well. It was my favorite daily when it was turbo'd. I would surpraise many cars racing on the highway when they thought my car was stock haha. They are very good cars!
@@MateoM Keep us posted on your 2zz turbo build. I actually saw your 7 year old turbo video and inspired me to boost mine. As you know, the boost makes the car faster. Like sleeper fast.
So ready for more celica content. I recently got one myself as a first car. So much fun to drive and it's great to see other car enthusiasts keep coming back to this beloved vehicle. Can't wait to see where this build goes
Thank you! I’m looking forward to it as well. It feels good being in the driver seat of one of these again. Thank you for the comment and watching
crazy that this was your first car , i got a 2012 rs 7.0 scion tc and my brothers tryna get a celica
Haha ya it feels good to be in a familiar seat again. And nice! I always liked the scion tc’s , in my mind I considered them the newer four door celica haha. I didn’t realize the RS 7 series was so limited too, so very cool you have that model! Hopefully your brother finds a good condition celica gts. It’s hard but they are out there.
congrats mate
Man this is my dream car but this video definitely helped me realize I will always be putting in the work to keep it running
It’s definitely a labor of love 😂 once the car is at a good spot, it’s pretty reliable it just takes a minute to get there. I haven’t had to really work on mine in months until the turbos started to die. But I definitely put in the work to get it to this point of getting in it and not worrying about anything going wrong. Thanks for watching!
R u located in the Metro Atlanta area?
No I’m in the Charlotte, NC area. Atlanta is right down the road tho lol
Have tyou ried sourcing parts from the UK, Search for Garage D
There are actually celica's without sunroofs, uncommon but they are out there. It is very true that a lot of these cars are high mileage or riced out but that is one of the reasons that I like them because the few people that do really care can make them into really nice looking cars. Also they are rare so it's nice to see the taken care of ones. Mine has a bunch of modifications and isn't in the best shape just needs minor body work but the absolute worst part of these cars but by far is the 6 speed c60, Great transmission for shifting but not durability as I'm on my third transmission and about to rebuild it at 130k miles. Also that is definitely a pre-facelift model based on the front bumper and interior color would recommend swapping out to the ECU if you have the 2002 ECU ending in PN #20190 as lift is severely lessened in that model year.
Awesome! Thank you for all the info. Maybe one day I’ll run into one without a sunroof. Maybe more common on the gt model as they are “lower trim”? And yes I agree the people who held on to these and made them nice, have kept them REALLY nice. However that won’t fix the c60 trans issue haha. What sort of failures are you getting with them? Destroying gears, synchros dying? And sweet, noted for the front bumper. I swear my original one looked different besides the lip. And I confirmed, the ecu is definitely the one with the higher rev limit, thank you for the part number! So much info I’m relearning while getting back into this platform.
@@MateoMbought my Celica with an issue with the shifter cables and spacing on the 6th gear causing it to pop out when throttle is applied, pretty common issue. Second transmission had busted gears that I bought for $100 and rebuilt, that one eventually got fluid starved due to an oversight of mine, third transmission and current transmission is a low mileage transmission from a Pontiac vibe GT that I swapped the internals to a Celica transmission case. Most common issues are second gear will tend to grind if shifted at high RPMs often, third gear is probably one of the weakest gears, and sixth gear has been known to pop out on quite a few celica's due to a spacing issue with the synchro & gear against the shift hub. Would highly recommend doing an extended clutch fork push rod, short throw shifter, and brass shifter bushings it really improves the shifting feel in my opinion. I'm going to rebuild my transmission again soon and get a fidanza lightweight flywheel as well. Good stuff that you have the correct ECU I just flipped two of them for a nice profit they are somewhat rare. I know you probably have more general experience than I do but if you have any questions about Celica stuff I have an Instagram and can put you in contact with people who have parts and or information on transmission specifics. IG: Cecilia.2zz
@@ComplexityMCSG fyi there is a massive amount of updated parts for both the c60 and shifter cables/linkages that go with it. short throw shifters are very overrated for this platform and the majority of the ones on the market have next to no r&d. the brass shifter bushings are terrible (especially from mwr), its really not the right material for bush in the first place. Delrin bushes work much better
In Ireland 90% of them came without a sunroof. We try to keep the rain out as much as possible 😂
The exact same spec as my Celica, glad to see you posting Celica content again, have had my Celica for 5 years. Missed the 2zz I bet but forgot about the c60 problems lol
Haha I remember all too well the issues with the c60 and especially the gear synchros. No issues on mine… yet lol.
