    Richard Nixon's political career began in ernest while he was chosen the running mate to the WW2 Supreme Allied Commander - General D D Eisenhower in 1952 & 1953 the Iran coup'd'teat happened, Iran PM Mohd Mossadegh being deposed... Yes. Birinda, Shah of Iran was re installed on Iran's throne by the joint efforts of Britain - France & the US - CIA - Dulles efforts. Now Professor u're an academic historian, dedicated to rigor, in depth research, study of historical events in order to present deep insights, abt little known behind the scenes tales of the historic scandals... like the Watergate scandal, which was a defining watershed moment in American history post 1945, & the chief protagonist in this dtama happened to be Mr Nixon - Kissinger -, latter managing to escape unscathed as always - - besides a host of other leaders, incl the Kennedy dynasty.... How'd u define the 8 yr tenure of R Nixon's vice presidency from 1953-61, deputy to D D Eisenhower... There are number of myths floating to date of D D E being a golf & bridge player, leaving the serious business of foreign policy affairs to his SoS - A Dulles, the nitty - gritty of dirty politics besidrs administration to his dy R Nixon, - whom he had accomodated in the West wing of the WH... In a way, R Nixon was being groomed for 8 long years, by Gen D D E, sending him overseas, to UK, EU, Moscow, watching him tsckle Sen J Mckarthy, eventually enabling him to occupy the WH in 1969... This sounds, Prof David, like a carefully drsigned, conceived, long term succession plan put in place, as it is done in giant global conglomerates to pre empt any & every vagaries of uncertaunties... So to that extent i'd not subscribe to the carefully constructed popular myth of the proverbial "accidental president" in particular.... invl, Harry Truman ot Jimmy Carter... & certainly not, the Hollywood cabal led by Ronald Reagan,.... obscuring his name sake investment banker in the WH, - Ronald Regan ( with a single **a in his second name )... Why do u say that R Nixon was a being who wore many masks... isn't that true fir any & every top politician, whether in US, UZk, EU nations or in any banana-republic country.....? That's what I've explored in my book, Nixon's shadow... with the benefit of hindsight is that even a riddle or a puzzle...? Yeeaah, the secret us put &, its no more a classified mystery... The Rockefeller brothers, Nelson & David, in particular, among others... another name is Gerald Ford, who too apparently pops up suddenly out of nowhere, first to occupy VP office & then to succeed R Nixon as he is "forced" to resign.... Mr Gerald Ford - - the 1st unelected - on record - - VP & President, both....!!! And therein lies one of the many most significant threads for the curious ones, to track global events in the trumpeted democracies, which in any case has been reduced & equated with the banal voting ritual, which, contrary to popular belief is not - - once every 5 years - - but a seemingly never ending, continuous ritual, as in the Church, the Mosque, the Gurudwara, the Temples, round the clock, 24 *7'365.....thats democracy....!!! anyways, to pierce the veils the many masks adorned by R Nixon, we need to probe the events in the 8 year gap between 1961 & 69... What was Nixon doing then...? He was authoring his first book.... 6 Crises.... & he managed to finish it within a mere 10 months... very revealing insights... 6 crises.... & he later described the writing of the book as the 7th crisis... 1964 republican nominations, were remarkable for the clash between , Nelson Rockefeller & Barry Goldwater.... & the Gold thread standard then defined by the APA - psychiatrist assocns... in Barry Goldwater case... Nelson Rockefeller's comments in public campaign rallies then are most revealing of the ominous events to follow, not only in the US, but entire globe... In that sense, Barry Goldwater's loss in 1964 elections is defined as the most consequential loss to date, incl, among others, the Ross Perot loss... in early 90z... Now abt the Watergate scandal characters.... "Project Eagle" / "The Eagle has landee" hv u heard, Birinda.... ? can u guess what it was & what itcreally meant...? Project eagle was the secret code given for the Shah of Iran by the Chief of staff yo David Rockefelker at Chase Manhattan Bank, Joseph Reed Jr.... 1979 - when Shah Reza Pahlavi & hiscwife landed in the US, Jo Reed gleefully announced.... "the Eagle has arrived".... As to what it really meant, the hidden msg is not at all difficult to decipher, Prof David.... the D Rockefeller club, which lobbied for the Shah of Iran to be allowed to land & treated in Iran incl, off course the grand Vizier Henriech Kissinger : John G Mccloy, fmr Commissioner of occupied Germany post WW2, & an advisor to 8 presidents as well as future Chase Chairman : Archibald B Roosevelt Jr, whose cousin Kermit Roosevelt - CIA agent had orchestrated the coup in 1953 & Richard Helms - a fmr director of CIA & ambssador to Iran... Archibald Cox - - attorney who was coaxed & persuaded to prosecute R Nixon earlier...!!! Now the most interesting veil, Birinda, we shall pierce.... Who really was being tried in the Watergate scandal ? mystery of Lawyer, Ted Kennedy.... Senator Massachussets.....

    Tally sticks have been known about in the history of money for a very long time. How is this an alternative? No barter systems? Go to a rural valley. Locals barter goods. Naturally. He just said where money came from , as an example , was when a crime was committed, cattle etc. was used to barter for forgiveness. There you go you just said that the origin of money wasn’t battering and then you proved that it was.. This is exactly what happens in Papua New Guinea. If a person is killed, a certain amount of pigs must be paid to honor the debt of transgressing Cultural law. bartering is used to pay for cultural debt. Authority is obviously always involved with things like cultural debt because you were dealing with tribal groups. Tribal groups like horses and other pack animals have leaders that’s the authority so of course, someone’s gotta be held accountable to repay the debt or crime. But that’s bartering.

And the only thing that would change the official policy would be if these disgruntled people somehow took power and I don’t see signs of it in the near future” Fast forward to the 2024 European elections and maybe those 'disgruntled people' are starting to become a political force

    DEnial the competator to intuition. I lent my criminal brother $ 7,000.00 for 30 days in 2017 as he went through his divorce and would cash his $ 25,000.00 investment to pay me back. Denial kicked in because he had alreaddy stole $ 200,00. from our dying parents and lied all the time. But, my new saying is that when our need is greater than our need for the truth then reality will soon appear. My need in my old age to have a relationship with my brorther motivated me to over ride reality and my screaming intuition as he flailed his arms to my doubt. CAUTION : When woman have a NEED to " BE NICE " then criminals can push them into denial and rape or murder.

    I am surprised to hear the lecturer's conclusion that the euro has been a disaster. In terms of increasing trade across the European Union, it is measurably a success. In terms of restricting the "spendy" countries' ability to just spend, it's been successful. In terms of allowing the European Union to adopt common debt and work together to resolve crisis like COVID, it's been a success. I would be curious to hear the lecturer's refreshed opinion on this today.

  • @Richard-ki4nk
    @Richard-ki4nk2 ай бұрын

    At 50.33 he says money is debt and bitcoin can't be money. He should explain why when making this statement. Money doesn't have to be debt. MMTers want ultimate power to be within government....Hard money proponents want individuals empowered.....and both systems are based on a monetary system which is used as a system of value exchange. So you just ask yourself if you want top down control or bottom up control. There are pros and cons of each, but it seems top down authoritative control is most dangerous...as it attracts power hungry narcissists that wield this power for personal benefit (more large scale wars but less small skirmishes) The force to help prevent this is power to individuals (less world war...but maybe more small wars). Not an easy clearcut solution either way.

    Only crackpots in Europe think that the Euro was a disaster. The loss of sovereignty inherent in a common currency is not the deal breaker that it is often presented as. All countries are interdependent, but particularly those in the European family of nations. The Euro enjoys enormous support amongst European citizens that use it and the ECB are as competent as any other central bank in its impact on the economy.

    Bank of England was created in 1695 under William III to raise funds for his wars, not “some George”. I am skeptical of the default story. Wray says that tally sticks were used until 1919? And later says they were all burned in 184? If money is government debt, why were coins usually issued with intrinsic value (slightly) below their nominal value? In what sense are these coins debt? My understanding is that Yap islander’s stone wheels were stores of value not mediums of exchange. His tale about travelling to another island to create the wheels and losing some when canoes tipped over and the sunken stones retaining their value seems far fetched. Some extant stone wheels are far too big to transport 200 miles on canoes. It would be interesting to see a convincing source for the story. Cigarettes were famously used as money in WW2 POW campus in Germany. There was no sovereign to create or regulate it. It arose spontaneously and by common agreement. Script (locally agreed mediums of exchange, I.e. just printed pieces of paper) have been used when currency was scarce. Again spontaneous and not imposed by a sovereign. My impression is that Prof Wray is distorting history, cherry picking parts of it or just making things up to support his thesis.

    Alright then if what makes a currency have value is the taxes the government issuer makes then why does bitcoin have value? There was no government that required to pay taxes in bitcoin. Right now El Salvador has bitcoin as legal tender so you can use it to pay taxes in there but that was not true just few years ago.

    It’s also unconstitutional for a state to punish someone for a case that was completed in another state . Florida places people on the registry even if they have completed the requirements in the state in which their case was completed . How can additional punishment be added to someone who has completed their punishment in the state in which the judge had already ordered their punishment ? How can any state punish anyone for a case that wasn’t decided in their state or presided over by a court/ judge in that state ? This needs to end !
