Thank sweet sound mandolin
What a classic tune! And perfect for the mandolin.
good seller.. 😂👍
I remember the 'Red Diamond' you are playing in this video. Such quality, I should have bought it when I had the chance.
Hi magnus, love your generosity and bright clear lessons. Over here in England you are much appreciated.
I am from India , Sir , I am a beginner, i want a tab.of this rhythmic music. Hope you will be kind enough .
Thanks. Cleared up a few notes for me. I learned if from a couple of Mike Compton recordings. I hadn't heard that B part before, I'm thinking I will use is. Pretty much just playing the chords with a couple of Monroeisms.
'Strum Machine' is my super favourite practice app. I think it helps so much with my right hand technique.
'Cajon' is the Spanish word for box.
....surprised by his saying to "loosen tension" on strings,...thought should be adj. with tension on ?
I may end up there. But for my FIRST mandolin, I'm buying an Eastman MD404-BK. I love the texture of it's sound, the flexibility of playing almost anything from Celtic to a good honest bluegrass chop. I don't know that it will be the master of any role compared to others. But starting with that instrument excites me, even though I feel an urge to play octave mandolin in a year or two. Just hope the sound doesn't get stepped on by guitars.
The song anytime must be an offspring of this song.
I’m a beginner learning Avalon, it’s the first song in the Gypsy Hot Club book and you guys cruuuuuushed it! Love to see this!
Loosen the strings... yes, but be careful not to take too much tension off or the bridge could shift on you.
Yes
Really helpful. And I'm adding this little reminder, just for good measure: Turn right to make tight,
This is the best Mandolin harmony accompaniment to the 'Lonesome Moonlight Waltz' I have heard. Thank you very much. Best Wishes!
Do you find this harmony suitable for the piece?
Yes
I love this style! Goals !!!
The "milk/milch " protein is also called Casein, and yes, they do bend and "cup".
Would you recommend using a "wristie" if I have issues with carpal tunnel as well as the arm rest?
I love your Nordic playing so much, Magnus!
How can I get a copy of the chords you use on the Octave mandolin ?
Magnus? You must be a chess player!
Loving this tune on the tenor banjo!
Hi Magnus, thanks, five years late, for this useful technique. You have lucky fingers, like mine lucky they don't snap off.
Love this tune! Great lesson Magnus.
Do you like playing old jazz tunes like this one? Any other song suggestion?
That's a Plenty
Good Job!!
i could not download anything?
Clickbait Nothing about learning by ear All daft navel gazing about Toneguards Easte of time 😮
I come from Poland and I've recently learned that polska music genre comes from my country. It's funny that it's more popular abroad than here 😬. Nice video 🤩
Awesome arrangement!
Great lesson with just the right pace and detail!

Gyönyörű
🙏
How do you find jazz licks like this? Are you using them in your playing? Do you want more?
Beautiful music, Magnus. And you really make your Phoenix mandolin sing. The music sounds modal though I'm not expert to identify the specific one.
Like you both there are multiple frustrations, but I'm not sure I worked through them. More like don't care about them anymore. I just play for enjoyment and if it's not enjoyable then work on something else. It was interesting to hear that you both have many frustrations. I think you both play very fast and very clean!
Thank you @karencrafter! Yes, there is always some challenges to overcome, no matter the level you are at.
👌🏻
Extremely helpful lesson, Magnus. Your videos are consistently among the very best mandolin learning channels. BTW, I was admiring your beautiful mandolin which I believe is a Phoenix. Am I correct in believing that they are no longer making mandolins? What a shame if this is true.
How much slack for the high e string??? I pull back a fret, I get c, 2.5 frets, D
Beautiful ! ❤ Perth West Australia
Great lesson! Thank you
Thanks @barrycook6603!
Nice exercise, thanks!!
Thanks Cathy!
What is your story with the measured tremolo?
Thank you Magnus! When I was a child, our school bus passed Mr. Monroe’s 200 acre farm on Long Hollow Pike in Goodlettsville Tennessee. I’m an amatuer Bluegrass Fiddler & also pick mandolin.
Very groovy at 1.5x speed, heck, it sounds good at any speed. 100% I'm learning this.
The octave mandolin is a terrific versitile instrument -- great for tunes and better than a standard mandolin for accompanying songs. When I first switched I had some difficulty playing tunes in first position because of the greater distance between frets -- I found that most tunes could be easily played up the neck with very little adjustment in the fingering. Thanks for helping to promote this great instrument. I have a sweet Apollo OM made by Nikos Apollonio from Rockport, Maine, in the USA.
This is wonderful. Thank you! 🙏
