  I have some discus fish in my tank. Whenever I change the water, I see some mud like thing stuck on the heater, air stone or on the wall inside the tank and when I scrub it thoroughly with my hand or something else inside the tank to clean it, then all this mud comes out. What could this be? And the second thing is that immediately after changing the water, for a while the fish start swimming here and there in a slightly different manner, as if bending their whole body and sometimes in a crooked manner. I check the temperature of the water and everything else. Why is this happening? Do they have any disease or is this their natural behavior? Can you tell me?

  That muddy thing could be their poop and as you are saying they behave different after changing the water so that could be due to sudden temperature change or high chlorine

  I use 100% RO water. I think there is no chlorine in RO water.
