My wake-up call to give up all flour, all sugar and all processed foods. 1. They feed us poison so we will buy their (expensive) cures. Most of the food we are presented with at the supermarket is not food; it is an industrially produced edible substance -- consumable poison -- and its purpose is financialized growth. I am no longer going to help line the pockets of the corporate food giants. 2. I don’t want to feed my demise. I want to (continue to) be healthy (no meds) - not sick and disabled -- especially as I age. 3. I have lost all faith in our “sick care” system (reactive vs. proactive) and want to continue to be able to stay clear of the doctor’s office. 4. No ONE, no PILL is coming to save me - nor should they. I alone am (and should be) responsible for my own health. True “health care” is me choosing ONLY healthy food to feed my body. Added bonuses: I look and feel fantastic -- physically AND emotionally -- AND we've spent $700 less on food 2024 vs. 2023 to date.

For me and my family we prioritize the luxury of eating out or ordering in. The habit can be expensive however because of health reasons we don’t travel or go on extensive holidays. We don’t smoke or drink. 85% of what we own is either thrifted or handed down. If we need something we check second hand sites first…even our pets came from previous owners lol.

I also forgot to mention that I will not give up my Amazon prime, or grocery delivery. I am a person with disabilities who lives by themselves, and don’t have access to public transportation, and I’m not able to walk far. So these are necessities, but there are some nice perks with them. As an example, with my grocery delivery, I also get access to Peacock, free for a year. So I will get to watch the Olympics for free.

I really appreciate what you said about everyone’s frugality looking different. What is important to one person may not be as important to another. I prefer to save up my money for books, vacations, high-quality kitchen ware, my cat etc. Others have other priorities. Thank you.

I refuse to give up meat. Instead we have been making recipes with cheaper meats on sale and freezing clearance deals. Also I have realized that my husband and I don't need as much portion sizes as we used to.

I appreciate all your suggestions…..maybe some of them will get viewers to consider some of your ideas….even making a couple of small changes can make a big difference…..we live very rural, the nearest larger stores are 20 to 30 miles, so going shopping when there’s a sale isn’t practical….so, I’m not giving up my grocery buying habits….I use the envelope system and put in a set amount every month for groceries…..one large haul once a month works for us….sale or not, I buy what we need…..thanks for all your encouragement…..

I take my lunch and snacks to work every day. One day this week I had an out of town class and started to stop to pick up Barbecued chicken at a restaurant for supper but decided to go home and put 2 large chicken breast in the slow cooker. I saved a lot of money. I ended up getting 3 meals out of it for me and my husband. We save a lot of money by rarely eat out.

Have you ever heard of the "Dirty Dozen"? It's list the Environmental Working Group does every year of the 12 fresh fruits and vegetables that's the worst to have chemicals and that should be bought organically grown if you can. I try to go by this.

Yes, no scrimping on healthcare insurance (luckily we have retiree healthcare insurance), homeowners, automobile, umbrella, long term care insurance, etc. Careful to keep in mind that Cheaper is NOT always better when it comes to insurance companies and coverage. This also extends to buying big home items like HVAC, Roofing, Painting ,water Heaters,Refrigerators, Freezers, Washers, Dryers, etc. Research and do homework. All companies doing work should be researched as well. Regular Home and Auto maintenance can save money too. Hopefully you can do it yourself to save but if needed pay someone if necessary. Ie, checking your roof/gutters yearly can ensure no leakage damage occurs, etc Good video to share what you don’t scrimp on spending money but also saying what frugal ways to keep in mind We do and have always done some of the things you mentioned but don’t do others….like you always say everyone’s life journey is different AND especially different at various times of our lives

We use everything but the Food Saver. I never thought of re-packaging freezer vegetables! We do cook our soaked and rinsed dry beans in a crockpot. We use “floor towels” in the kitchen. They’re just old pieces of towels and old hand towels. Nobody has mentioned using cast iron: the original non-stick cookware! We’ve never been anemic! Definitely our library cards!

Since I found your channel. I didn't realise how much I wasted and things that I really don't need. I stood in the Kitchen yesterday listening to music on my record player and chopped 5 onions for the freezer. I'm 55. Almost 36 years in the Ambulance in Northern Ireland where I come from and Scotland since I moved here in 2001. I hope to retire at 60 if I can. You both are Amazing and have encouraged me along the frugal path. I so look forward to Fridays to see what wisdom of the week you have for us you. You both are a Blessing to us all ❤.

Defintions from the dictionary, FRUGAL - sparing, economical. CHEAP - poor quality, low price, low value. Frugal is getting the most of what we have. You probably wouldnt be able to tithe as you doif you were not frugal. Cheap is what society and advitisers tell us that were are because we dont spend or buy their products for our family, it is simply emotional blackmail.😮

May God Bless you and your family. We have to worship in Spirit and in Truth. EXODUS 20:8-11 commands us to Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy. So it is a day, and it is a holy day. Here the day is specific. Six days you shall work, but on the Seventh day, you shall do no work. The weekly calendar starts with Sunday as the first day, so which is the Seventh day? That would be Saturday. From sunset Friday evening to sunset Saturday evening is the Sabbath day. So the preparation day will and should be Friday. Sunset Thursday evening to sunset Friday evening. The Bible tells us that when we prepare our food on preparation day for two days, the food will not spoil. Also in Genesis chapter 1, and chapter 2:2&3, God blessed and sanctified the Sabbath day. You can also read John 14:15, Revelation 14:12, and Revelation 22:14. Sister in Christ, I am not judging you, but I am sharing with you my understanding of the holy Sabbath day. I do this in Love. Jesus also was his Custom to preach and teach on the Sabbath day in the synagogue. He was crucified on Friday, and he rested on Saturday, the holy day in the grave, and he resurrected on Sunday. Thank you for letting me share scriptures with you. God Bless 🙏 🙌.

Gift baskets are a great way to go, many years ago I made Christmas gift baskets for my prayer kids ( hs) at my childrens school, one gift for a teen boy, who I didnt know, contained some of his favorite candies, a pair of house socks( thick black socks) to help keep your feet warn durring winter and some homemade cookies& brownies,I had my teen girls help me "wrap" it clesr celephane tied sroundwith school color ribbons, that year I got to make 3 basketsmy budge was $40 for 3 baskets, pluss the fillings. The young man was out of town on a school trip, so his mom came by afterschool on her way home from work, mrsC. Spent way to much!, if she only knew The other 2 baskets( for teen girls) contained house socks, candy home made cookies, brownies ect, clearance bath jell along with a bath puff. Baskets in my area like those sell for around$50 in Dec. it was all in the presentation.😊

We take vacations. Usually just one big one each year. And we go to Major League Baseball games atound the country. Our goal is to go to every stadium. We take snacks, breakfast food, and drinks with us (if we drive) to save money on food. We dont buy tickets for the best seata in the house, but we still enjoy ourselves. And we don't go to fancy restaurants. We do buy some souvenirs, but nothing extravagant. We really enjoy seeing new places and learning about the culture of each city we visit. This year we are saving over half of our budget by staying with family. Everything we save will roll over to a trip next year that requires flying.

I made delicious eggplant parm with the eggplant from that same box. I'm not a huge fan of eggplant, but it turned out fantastic! Paul without guitar strings is like a day without sunshine! You can get so much high quality free online education these days and even degree and business course books are offered for free and i get absolute bargains waiting for high quality clothing items when our charity shop sales come about. I got a real shock recently going to clothing shops where the prices were outrageous and the quality was so poor i was glad for my thriftyness.

I did a little research on the cat food we buy vs. the the premium brands and found if anything it is better for them. I felt guilty for skimping on the pet food and I have had several vets say keep doing what you are doing. I am not trying to criticize your choice with Dixibell. I am trying to give pet owners an option if they can't afford the expensive stuff hope. You are not bad pet parents for buying grocery store brands.
