Been using an original ATAK since 1995 paid $300 or so as i recall. Mines not so bright & shiny anymore hard chrome chipped off maintain it no rust its just O1 Starrett tool steel with a good heat treat...Kevin was a good salesman. Good knife same as a Randall 16 or 14, they're about a thousand dollar's cheaper. Go ahead use it, you wont break it.

Very nice but man, for me no way am i paying that for a piece of sharpened steel, and i thought Benchmade was pricey for their boring blades... Damn. To each his own, cool knife though.

You presented that knife like it was the Holly Grail! All MD knives are Over priced, and Over Hyped!. It's made of a common 01 Tool Steel! But I guess if you gotta have a MD knife ... There's a video about MD and Cold steel .. Check it out.

Nice explantion. But you dont need to set up back azimuth after you want to go back to your starting position. you need only to turn the north arrow into the one bar (south). Therefore is there this one bar.

Would love to see these knives being used. I guess I will have to buy one and test it myself. Anyone willing to watch the video if I do?

It is certainly a good knife, sturdy and very well built but in this respect it is on par with hundreds of thousands of other knives in the world and it is nothing more than a normal industrial steel bar with a synthetic handle; $ 1700 is definitely madness even if many parts of its work are done by hand!!! However, I agree that it is precisely for their insane price that they have and will always have a high collectible value and if you have the economic possibility to buy it, why not? Great review. 🙂

Looks like a big 5 special to me, so plain and boring not sure why people buy these knives honestly, I could see $300 maybe but $1700 is madness.

I totally agree! I bought several different brands to try and with this price, you can get Rockstead knives, which are way better fit & finish, a lot better looking and much better steel, way sharper too. There's test done by Dutch Bushcraft Knives, it's crazy!

420 HC is a deal breaker for me, and I'm not even a steel snob. Come on Gerber 420HC is 2 steps above a gas station / flea market steel. Just plain old D2 would be good enough for me, heck i would even go for 12C27 or AUS 10, 1066, 1075, 1095 maybe even 440C. Yep any of those 7 modest steels and i would jump on it in a heartbeat, for even $90 to $120. Nobody can do better than Bucks Boss heat treated 420HC and that's not even something i can do. I carried a US made Gerber pocket knife for 20 years as an EDC made from 440C and it wasn't too bad. However with D2 now available for dirt cheap i wouldn't consider that anymore.

Just found your video here. Gonna subscribe because your delivery and video presence feels comfortable to me. I got the Strongarm last month, and I’ve been watching all the videos I can find on it. I really like it. I prefer the big knives. Bowies, choppers, and one-tool-options. Eight to twelve inch blades. But the last couple of years I’ve been on a small knife binge. Four to six inch blades. I also think the Strongarm is one of the best knives for the money. Yeah, Mora makes a great knife, but I’ll never trust my life to a partial-tang knife. I would be happy to take the Strongarm into the bush as my primary tool.

I’ve had the strongarm for years and for the last few days I’ve been watching every video on it lol. Probably because I have the black serrated and want to get the coyote plain edge, idk. I think I just need to buy it and get it out of my system. It’s truly one of my favourite knives, aside from the Honshu conqueror Bowie - but that one is way too big to carry around everywhere lol

Agreed....good overall combat knife. I currently rock the SOG Seal FX for a duty/combat fixed blade. My go to camp/field knife is the Gerber Ultimate Fixed Blade which is very close to the StrongArm.
