    Just put these tires on our 2019 Bolt. The original Michelin Energy Savers lasted 72,000 kms in our Westcoast Canada weather after being driven year round. Didn’t mind the old ones but they did seem not the best in wet weather. The new tires feel, drive, and sound fine. New rubber just feels better now but time will be the best judge. Thanks for the review as you helped me with my decision.

    after less than 1 year and my Bolt EUV I use primarily for side hustle/delivering I was done with the OEM tires and with previous experience with Yokohamas on a beamer I had, I went that direction, Game Changer-Life Changing, I almost never chirp the tires anymore and the handling is polar opposite including on wet streets/rain Had around 18k miles when I switched and i'll never go back ........ Yokohamas for the win AGAIN ! got mine at Discount Tire so free rotations for life and with the miles I do side hustling and all types of terrain I rotate them every 3k miles just to be on the safe side and prolong their life, already put 4,500 miles on the Yokohamas and still nothing to complain about

  • @thisandthatfromflorida

    I had Yokohamas Geolanders on my previous vehicles and loved the Yokohamas too...they make a great tire. I agree it really does make it much more enjoyable driving the Bolt with tires that have good grip.

    I have a 2022 Bolt EUV that I bought new and at 300 miles one of the tired failed, sidewall rupture. I could not find a single replacement and I was not going to drive a new car on mismatched tires, so I got a set of the Cross Climate 2 tires at my local Costco. I kept the 3 that were good and sold them used on Craigslist to recoup some of my costs. The CC2 tires are exceptional, and I agree with all you said. I am from Florida (2nd generation) and know the thrill of driving in summer storms, and having excellent wet traction is great. Here in Los Angeles, when our streets get wet, they get exceptionally slippery, but these tires are great. The slight loss of range has not been an issue, and I also run 38>40 PSI in the tires. I've driven over 1,000,000 miles on Michelin tires and won't have anything else. Also, these tires are snow and ICE rated, so they are excellent winter tires as well. I have almost 15,000 miles on mine, and highly recommend them.

    I put these on my 2013 Volt after we figured out the original eco tires were bad in rain and snow (we live in WI). We next we tried Cont Pure Contact, not much better. The Crossclimate 2's are really good in rain and snow. The drop in range is worth not getting in an accident because your eco tires have no traction. Range isn't worth your life or someone elses. We also have a 2020 Bolt they're going on next.

    Man thats a big range hit. I wonder if you would have been better served by something like to continental truecontact tour there in FL vs a quasi winter tire. I used those contis on my subaru in the PNW and I was never let down by then in any condition and the fuel economy was also preserved if not improved.

  • @thisandthatfromflorida
    @thisandthatfromflorida7 ай бұрын

    Hi there, I was definetly considering the Continental Truecontacts or Purecontacts (one of those contacts lol). It was really a toss-up for me but after watching some of the technical comparison videos on youtube such as like tirerack and other professional reviewer channels these Michelins seemed to have what I was looking for....the best traction, especially in the rain. My common sense was telling me that lower rolling resistance will always mean lower traction or less "stickiness" to the road....so while the range may be better on those kind of tires, the handling or traction by definition would be worse. So I picked traction all day long since I use my Bolt as more of a commuter/around town car, the loss of 20-25 miles or so in range is worth the extra traction for me all day long. Especially here in Florida with the crazy summer rains we get, I have never driven on a better rain tire, the standing water or puddles these tires cut through with ease is actually pretty amazing. I can't speak for the Continentals since I never have had them so they may be great as well and they are definitely popular on the Bolt forums and seemed like a solid choice to me too. Just a side note, my current miles/kw is at 4.0 when it used to be about 4.2 on the old tires...and this is now with 11,000 miles on the new tires so the range loss maybe closer to 5% or is decreasing as the tires get more worn in.

    Really helpful video for me as I'm considering buying a Bolt. How about noise level? Has it increased with the new tires?

  • @thisandthatfromflorida
    @thisandthatfromflorida7 ай бұрын

    HI there, glad you found the video helpful, I noticed some road noise when I first got the tires (maybe first 2 weeks)...when I had my windows open you could hear how "sticky" the tires were on the pavement....kind of like the sound you hear when your shoes are sticky on a hard floor. Nothing bad or annoying, it just surprised me to hear that....now I don't notice any unusual sounds (guess tires are a little worn in now). Also, I don't notice any excess road noise created by these tires in comparison to other tires I've driven on. I'm still impressed every day by these tires and probably going to get these same tires for our other car which is a 2018 Honda Pilot AWD.

    If you want to over manage things. When you get your new Bolt. Remove the stock tires (and rims) and put on what you want. eBay is full of takeoffs (Factory tires with no wear) trying to be sold. In 2017 the Michelin Defender was the super tire of the day. I lost 5% on MPG. I did get 90,000 miles out of them. But boy, were they bald. Might want to consider the PIRELLI P4 FOUR SEASONS PLUS. I put a pair on a front of a Prius and the steering did tighten up. Noisy for the 1st 8,000 miles. But has quieted down. Not yet to be able to report snow traction. One of the selling points of the CrossClimate 2 is they look cool. I could care less about looks. That is why I drive a Prius.
