My daughter was diagnosed as asd last year. Shes now 15. Had a terrible time at school. Got her diagnosed privately, as 3 year waiting list on nhs, and now at a different school. Starting to thrive. Anyway, im in my mid fifties and she thinks im autistic. The more i think about it the more it explains my troubles with anxiety and depression for 20 years now. Ive always hated networking at my work, would rather work on my own. All adding up i think. Thanks for your down to earth vids!

Excellent choice having a great savings and more streams to earn makes life goal’s easier but our way of life needs better alternative,at the same time, people also need to be more responsible. I know for a fact that there's a lot of people that simply don't make enough, I make roughly hundred plus a year and in California, rent inflation alone eat up almost all of what I make, with dependents and other obligations included, it's easy to end up with zero. however it’s a good time to add to existing asset holdings as follow -on opportunities

I resonate with what you said ma’am, you could also take advantage of some growth stocks at the moment, every pro is currently bagging on some digital surge. My familial relationships are unfortunately very terrible, and the majority of it is because of misunderstandings and the like. It is very hard because I grew up being very autistic and not ever knowing until I was an adult, and none of my family is autistic, so it kind of just felt my whole life like I was just completely alien to them. I did not have the capacity to communicate and function exactly the same way that they did as non-autistic people, and it kind of just always set me apart, usually negatively. Since I found out I am autistic, likely because of years of bad relationships and habits built up between us, unfortunately nothing has changed. They still don’t see my differences in communicating as a disorder that I cannot just turn off. So you are absolutely right, it unfortunately does come down to having a partner or family member who is willing and able to see and be understanding of my autistic traits, because even with both sides trying hard to connect, if one side is trying to have a neurotypical relationship with a very neurodivergent person and isn’t willing to let go of that, neither person will ever be satisfied in that relationship. Autistic traits have to be accepted and acknowledged in order to communicate with each other effectively without those communication barriers being a hinderance to them, because autism does not just go away if they ignore it.

I got diagnosed with what's refused to as high autism but I prefer to call it aspeism and severe ADHD when I was 4 but I'm now 18 and growing up with it has helped me a lot and if it wasn't for some of my hobbies and my obsession with some of my hobbies and my reactions of loud high pitched noises (for some reason I'm fine with any other pitched loud noises) but you genuinely wouldn't have any idea and because of that and the type of level 2 autism I have its really annoying when I'm patronised because I'm autistic I can understand what someone's saying but with some words I might take me literally a second or two to process the word and I don't need any help with things and also just because I'm not making eye contact doesn't mean that I'm not listening it's just that I need to do two things at once because of my ADHD and I'm actually playing a game while writing this comment and also if someone with diagnosed autism and or ADHD says 'I think your on the Autistic spectrum or ADHD' you most definitely are and get a diagnosis as a majority of the time us with diagnosed autism and adhd can spot someone with autism or ahdh really easily and it sticks out like a sore thumb to us

My path retirement was rather unconventional. I mentioned in a comment on another episode that I took paid sick leave for a year, then a year of unpaid leave, and then retired but do not collect a pension for another ten months, when I turn 55. You see, cancer took my wife, a hard working farmer, after she fought it for nine years. Once I was able to reflect back, I realized how much her illness had been affecting me as well. Others could see my mental health deteriorating but I was in the middle of it and therefore, could not see it. Once I got through my grief, and I was determined to begin a new life. I felt the cloud and the weight of cancer release and I have never felt so free and full of life. So my advice to others is to get on with life, capture the moments that bring you joy. Take care of your head and your heart, nothing else matters. Keep up the great posts.

What a pleasant find the algorithm gave me with this. You sir, speak well and are bang on with your thoughts. I would love to hear more. Having watched my hard working wife (she was a farmer) pass away from cancer after battling it for over nine years, I asked myself “What the hell was that all about?” She died at 52. I was a teacher, I took a year of paid sick leave to recover and then an unpaid leave of absence. I put in my retirement notice and won’t collect a pension for another nine months, when I turn 55. I was going down a dark road in my grief but was determined to NOT let the darkness win and have a new, free life. My time is MY time and it feels great. Read, walk, hike, travel, work on my hobby (stamp collecting), a bit of volunteering. That is how I spend my time. Great episode. Consider me subscribed.

I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.

Are you 100% sure of your explanation of how the technology works? Because Paramo's own explanation doesn't involve bodyheat but descibes a mechanical system - the furry midlayer is hydrophobic so causes moisture into tiny droplets which migrate to the tips of fibres which face outwards -analogous to animal fur which relies the same sort of idea but using oils to make the hairs hydrophobic,. No mention of body heat. Not saying that's not just marketing BS - Goretex's explanations of how their fabric work aren't accurate TBF but how do you/we know your explanation is correct vs their's? I've not had Paramo fail on me yet but that might be that I've just not had bad enough conditions. I tend to carry a very lightweight windproof when I'm walking or backpacking. I've always thought that if the Paramo started letting water in, I'd put the windproof over it, on the basis that it would very much reduce the impact speeds of raindrops. My thinking is that if Paramo fails it will be because very hard, high volume rain is smashing into the face fabric and getting past the DWR allowing so much water onto the furry midlayer that it cannot cope. Put another DWR on top and you should very much reduce that.

My purpose in life after retirement at 55 have been on easy task. Invest in my self by maintaining a healthier life style eating a well balance diet. Maintaining an exercise routine. Maintaining a social life style, joining enthusiast dance groups, and social dance activities that along burns calories on the dance floor. Investing a couple hours a day increasing, and maintain my long term investment portfolio, just for fun, and it's something I enjoy doing. Graving a Greek Yogurt ice cream after a light BK and taken an early long beach walk with my friend, that routine gets me out of the house in the morning. No regrets after retirement, only I wish I could have done it earlier in life. 🏖🏝

Retired at 55. Grew up poor. Worked my butt off through high school, college, and career. Married, 3 kids, and shared vision for future. Saw FP at age 30, self educated on financial planning, investments, passive income listing to CNBC on morning / evening commutes, reading Kiplinger magazine, and various other sources. All that plus living well below our means and invested heavily. Focused primarily on 500 index. / tech funds with a couple other sectors making up the balance. Created “bridge” money to trade stocks, plus passive rental income, which provided living expenses in early retirement. This allowed us to stay invested in our IRA’s and grow. Continued HSA insurance contributions with intent to use for Medicare premiums and LTC facility costs. All invested and growing. So, plan, educate yourself, live below your means, and retire early and let time grow your wealth. Of course, you must balance this lifestyle with enjoying the journey along the way. No regrets and loving retirement and the freedoms to travel the world.

Anytime I end up in bad circumstances financially or lose everything I go through a period of depression, but I think it’s based on my circumstances. I don’t think medication‘s going to help me. I did substance abuse, and smoke crack for a while and that actually made me feel better, but now that I’m off it, the depression is worse, I hope I can get over this material loss and recover so the depression will go away again like it did before. I hate it. I just stay in bed.

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

I really enjoyed this down to earth look at retirement. Im 62 with 40-years at the same employer. I'm finally allowing myself to go from dreaming about retirement to taking meaningful action. Wills & advanced directives done. Assessing budget done. Meeting with financial planner in-process. In my mind, this is the heavy lifting and completing each task is a step closer. Its strange, and maybe others have felt this, but its almost like I'm waiting for someone to say "hey, it's all good... you can do this now". In reality the only permission you need comes from the mirror.

I love this debate and suspect there is no right answer for everyone. I'm on the Scottish hills every weekend and run hot so Goretex wets out on me in heavy rain - usually after 2 or 3 hours of constant deluge in the lighter jackets and after 4 or 5 hours with the 'bomber' hard shells. The only two things that I have found to work is to take a second jacket (and ideally base/mid-layer) or hike fast enough to keep warm (though this means you can't stop for more than a couple of minutes at a time before you get cold). Don't think I would trust Paramo for a 10 to 14 hour day in the Cairngorms but I could be wrong! I'll keep searching for that elusive perfect jacket 🙂
