why is your videohead so wobbely. and is the mic not plugged in when you setup the cam.
@kriswingert16626 жыл бұрын
There are many mistakes in this video. Mic not connected before mounting ( and he never connected it before turning it on), did not check to see if the tripod was ok, checking the tilt and pan lock before mounting the camera. He has some good info, but he starts out with so many cringe worthy moments for any experience videographer.

Also the fact that he got pressed about students filming in QuickTime XDCAM, and "it not being compatible with AVID and having to reshoot." Every video codec can be transcoded through ingesting the file to a format which is supported. In most cases I take my H.264 and ingest into ProRes 422 because it is faster with Premiere. A lot of less "teaching" coming from the teacher here.

I should have watched this just after I bought my JVC 750, much of this I learned the hard way. I’ve fell into the incorrect SD card before. One of my first video shoots (bike race), setting up camera I realized I forgot my SD cards at home. But purchased a SD card from a Walgreens nearby, but then shocked the card didn’t work (it was a Class 4, hey them SD cards all look the same). Fortunately I was able to buy a Class 10 card from another videographer at the race (he had a spare). I didn’t think about putting iris in manual mode once setup and ready to shoot video. Interesting to see how to use shutter for brightness but also how it can “studder” the video. So that’s what the Macro focus button is for (closeups). Should have a mention on adjusting back-focus unless that is covered in another video. Don't know why three people downvoted this tutorial.
@kriswingert16626 жыл бұрын
Because of his many mistakes in the beginning. a Class 6 or better card has to be used for video due to the high transfer rate needed for HD ( 15 to 35mbps )
@weeardguy2 жыл бұрын
But that's good in a certain way. I'm also someone who can watch gazillions of tutorials on something new, but I usually learn quicker and better by fooling around with all the buttons there are, which usually triggers a lot of 'Ah... that's what it does' moments. I think too many people focus too much on trying to learn everything from a video or manual, while it's also good to just go out and USE your equipment, but not going out to shoot your first material you'd like to edit to something great. Just try different settings, record your settings by saying them out loud while recording, and review them later. And also: don't expect too much of your first experiences with such equipment if you're not used to setting things manually. Focussing manually while also keeping track of exposure via the iris-ring is something you manage to do by practice and certainly won't happen overnight. I hope you had a lot of fun with your machine. I still got mine and still use it ;)
