    You should have stated up front that State Farm General only applies to California, and not the rest of the country. State Farm in the rest of the nation is A rated. State Farm has been loosing its shirt in California on home insurance, and State Farm is withdrawing from home insurance in California as a response... Overall - a very misleading video.

    Hi, you are correct State Farm General is a CA company, unfortunately, State Farm National owns the CA company and nationally State Farm is raising rates and non-renewing folks, this is not just happening in CA but across the county. ~ Tia

    @@trailstoneinsurancegroup Almost all insurance companies are raising rates across the country due to unusually high inflationary increases for the cost of repairing cars, houses, etc. But California and Florida has exceptionally high insurance losses for a number of insurance companies largely because those States have refused to allow the insurance companies to increase rates to offset the higher risks that are now apparent. Thus a number of companies are leaving those States - especially for the house/structure insurance segment.

    might have been a more accurate video 10 years ago but "captive companies" aren't that captive any more. Companies Like Farmers was used as an example as captive but left out that they have their brokerage Kraft Lake which always Farmers agents to write business with other carries such as progressive, Safeco, etc. even if the only reason is price. Some times Captive companies are the best option for customers, right now in my own state companies like State Farm are by far the cheapest for most people, not that premium is everything but it was another point made. No offense to any independents or to Trailstone as there are certainly pros of being independent I wouldn't deny that. I just think many of the arguments of why captive is so bad simply isn't true anymore.. At least not for all carriers some still are pretty bad.

  • @trailstoneinsurancegroup
    @trailstoneinsurancegroupАй бұрын

    Luke_816, Thanks for your insights! The insurance landscape has changed, with companies like Farmers offering more flexibility to agents, this can provide some benefits to customers by providing options from multiple carriers. Also, you're spot on about Farmers and Kraft Lake offering additional choices beyond Farmers. Unfortunately, I have spoken with too many agents at Farmers, as well as other captives, and they will not offer an insurance company other than their captive brand because those commissions are significantly reduced. Here at Trailstone, our commission structures are fairly uniform and we are not deciding what to offer our clients based on a commission structure, we will offer what is best for the client. Your perspective on captive versus independent models adds depth to this discussion, thanks for sharing! ~ Tia

    Having worked for one of the mentioned captive carriers for 20 years, with my most recent experience being an agent for this company... I can tell you that the world of a captive agent is changing rapidly. With claims severity and frequency in most parts of the country increasing year over year, there are really 2 decisions a massive, captive carrier can make. Jettison risk (non-renew current policies) and/or take rate increases to absorb the cost of claims. Neither option is customer-centric... both options are bad for clients, but in the long term will create rate stability for the company. Organizations like Trailstone are the way of the future because we can still keep our client's best interests at heart. Large, captive carriers are only concerned with the corporation's financial well-being during times like these. Through consultation, Trailstone agents will find the right policies, with the right carrier, at the right price for YOU!

    Another fun fact about State Farm auto coverage. They are the only company writing in Colorado (and many other States) that does NOT have the Appraisal Clause or Right to Appraisal for repairable vehicles. Whatever they determine is reasonable and customary to them is all they will reimburse their insureds.

    Financial Solvency of an insurance carrier is commonly mis-understood or not even taken into consideration when making decisions on which carrier is right for you. Thank you for helping to make sense of why a carriers AM BEST rating is important information to consider. Absolutely correct Tia! "non-rate action" will not improve the carriers status, they will have to increase rates to make this move back towards an "A" status. Claims severity and frequency are forcing large carriers to take rate in many areas around the country, and we will see more of these topics hit the news. Tia does a great job of making sense of what is happening in the industry right now!

    Thanks for making this video and unveiling the curtain on how agents get paid. It's good for everyone to understand that it's not more expensive to work with an independent agent, in fact, it's actually cheaper for you in the long run. Having an expert, licensed agent, in your corner is huge! Being able to ask questions or seek advice without having to reach out to the carrier directly can not only keep your annual premiums down but also ensure the coverage you have specifically fits your needs.

    Hi Bettertoaster, Thanks for the question… this doesn’t seem to me to be a legitimate reason to deny the claim, I am not a licensed claim adjuster and don’t know all the details. ... but, if this happened to you recently, I would recommend speaking to the insurance adjuster’s supervisor and ask for the claim to be paid. Even if the door was unlocked insurance should respond if a thief entered your home and stole something. Wishing you the best. ~ Tia
