We had one in Phoenix/AZ for 5 weeks.....while the F-250 6.7's (3 of them) used around 14 l Diesel /100 km, the Nisson boy drunk in our convoy somewhere around 22 l/100 km....AZ has some 'little' mountains.... The 4 picks were rented, unfortunately the renting company had all other diesels out, so we had to take that Nissan...! A Y61 with Diesel, would have been an agreeable choice....but Nissan trashed that in the 90's...

    The most important thing you didn't mention is which octave fuel you used. Nissan recommends 98 octane fuel. From what I could tell you was not using 98 octane. Also I don't recall you mentioning your cruising speed. There are a lot of variables. I have owned mine new with no modifications since 2021 and these car can easily achieve between 10 to 11 l/100km. I always use 98 octane fuel.

    When I started working at Wheels our policy was to brim tanks until fuel was visible and stable in the filler neck, but there were certain vehicles where doing so was pretty much impossible as the necks were plumbed to the charcoal canister/evap system in such a way that they'd drain the overfill before we'd ever see the fuel. Besides ruining the fuel calc it's obviously not great for the emissions system either, so the policy changed to run the pump first click. I hope that explains the methodology a little better.

  • @johncanalese588
    @johncanalese588Ай бұрын

    If you actually own a Y62, like I do you will have to deal with the dual tanks issue that plagues the car. The 140l tank is actually comprised of two separate but inter-connected tanks of 100l and 40l capacity. When you fill up, fuel goes only into one tank and then siphons over to the other tank. If you’re at close to 1/4 of a tank, when you fill up to “full” you never get full capacity. You can literally go back the next day and put another 10-13l in the “tank”, as the fuel has had time to fully siphon over-night! I fill up my Y62 to when clicks of pump stop, then give the car a good shake and you can hear the loud gurgling in the filler neck and then get a couple more litres in.

  • @ameetnarayan9219
    @ameetnarayan9219Ай бұрын

    @@johncanalese588 yeah every single time. You think it's empty but it's actually not empty because the Y62 fuel tank CAL is incorrect. There is still about 30 or so litres of fuel left when the light comes on. Bloody annoying as shit. My dealer ship told me when you fill up make sure you don't insert the fuel nozzle all the way in to make sure you get maximum fuel in the tank. It sort of works and not work actually. I drive it until the range is 00 kms of range left and drive another 80 kms. When I went to fill and it still only took 125 litres. It's a shit tank design with an even crappier calibration

    You’re correct. All these guys saying they can do 10-11l/100km sitting at 110km/h, or in real world conditions are just kidding themselves of incorrectly calculating. Consumption figures are so dependant on so many variables. I’ve had my MY22 Y62 since new and tell everyone to expect 11-13l/100km highway and 18-20l/100km city on a stock standard patrol with no excessive load. That’s been my experience.
