  In the first shot, to the left of the oil filter, what is the blue hose connected to? We actually purchased one of these units a few years ago. 9000hrs later and it still works flawlessly, but that thing the blue hose is connected to has always confused me. There are two wires underneath the cap, and two wires in the nearby wiring harness that looks like they could(should?) be connected. There is also, what looks to be, some kind of red silicone sealent leaking out that hose.

  Funny this popped up on my feed. I was an engineer at Winco a decade ago and worked with the fella that designed that unit. I was there when that unit got built. A great thing Winco does is they take a money's no object approach to the core hardware they use on their machines. The best and most reliable engine and generator that you could get went into the products. They were also keen on stepping up to the newest emissions tiers as early as possible to stay ahead of changing EPA requirements, so you got the cleanest running gen set available at that time. Also there's no fluff on the power ratings. A 20kW generator will fully output rated power, even fully heat soaked. The machines are all designed, built, tested, and certified in-house in the US by a lot of good, hard working people. I haven't worked there in about a decade, have no vested interest in any of this, but I'll say it's hard to go wrong buying a Winco product.

  First and only time I’ve been present for a large genset load test I was blown away by the turbo sound. The engine starts up, gets to its designated rpm, load is added and the sound of the motor doesn’t change much all you hear is an insane turbo spool.
