    I just merged over to astrophotography after two years of visual and pretty excited but nervous because of the learning curve. I ordered the Asiair mini, Zwo mini 120 guide scope and the new Zwo asi535mc pro. Been watching all kinds of tutorials just to somewhat get familiar with it. What ring are you using to mount the Asiair and guide scope? I’m looking for a way to mount my system.

    Hi JWDeepSky. I have just purchased the Asiair Mini along with a ZWO Camera and ZWO EAF (focuser). I don't have a guiding telescope. Yet, I've been told I can autotrack/guide using the Asiair Mini and ZWO Camera. Do you know if that is true?

    I just purchased this camera (ASI533MC-Pro) and am learning the intricacies of deep sky AP. This video reinforces my decision on the camera. I hope one day to achieve results like you show. I'm using a WO GT81 on a EQ6-R Pro mount.

    Best workflow description online, thanks! I have one request. Because it is super-rational (watch 3 seconds, then do the work 😄👍), is there even a remote chance you can clarify your actions by adding circles, arrows and short texts to simplify and make it perfect? 2 months ago at the beginning of my search I ignored this film because it was too hard too fast and hard to understand. Now that i've seen an endless amount of films I have not only bought a very similar setup to your own, I also found that the contents of your film is exactly the info I need to get going. A very thankful noob.

    Hi I myself started a year ago with my Nikon dlsr camera and I soon found its limitations and moved onto a dedicated camera and a better mount my problem now here in Wales, UK is the lack of clear skies. Keep it up I do like your images and your story

    Great images!! As an astrophotographer with less than 1 year of experience (I’m at about 8 months) this is so cool to me. Shows how much you can improve in this hobby with the correct dedication.

    Nice images JW. How are you liking the Apertura 75? I almost bought that one, but I called Highpoint and there's no reducer available for it to really go wide field. Decided on an Askar instead. Though, for the price the 75 is super tempting!

    Good glass is a must for quality photos. I get great results using an old canon t2i astro modified ,William optics GT81 120mm guider with the 165v with an asi air plus ontop of an EQ6-R pro. This year i will be upgrading to an astronomy camera. Its an amazing journey. Clear skies.

    I've had asiair for over a year. Some controls on the menu look different. What I do gets the job done, but some stuff you show might be easier. What version of app are you using?

  • @mikehardy8247

    My gear is similar. Apertura 60 Doublet @ 360mm. Asi533mc pro. Asiair mini, or +. EAF 120 Mini and zwo 30mm guide scope, or svbony. SW SA GTI, I'm in bortle 8-9, so I've been experimenting with some filters. I have an asiair T7i. When I realized the 533mc pro could be had for $900, it opened a whole new world. The SW SA GTI started this. The original star adventurer was awsome, but star hopping in bortle 9 is ridiculous. The GTI solved this paired with the asiair +. Match made in "heaven". The past year with this made me toss the previous 5 years of crap. What do you process with? Like the horshead.

  • @jwdeepsky
    @jwdeepsky5 ай бұрын

    Thank you! I stack and process with pixinsight (sometimes I'll stack in siril because it's faster). Pixinsight is expensive but it definitely took my images to the next level and it's actually pretty easy to learn

  • @mikehardy8247
    @mikehardy82475 ай бұрын

    Sirill is what I'm learning. I was under the impression PIXINSIGHT was tough to learn. So spending $300 and then not getting my money's worth, not to mention the added cost of peripheral SW? This discussion may make me rethink this. Thanks!

  • @jwdeepsky
    @jwdeepsky5 ай бұрын

    @mikehardy8247 I thought pixinsight would be hard to learn too, but then i found this tutorial: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXWC1M2dZc3FoLg.htmlsi=nwL7GklwkVGdTzLx Watch the first few videos of this series. You can get a free trial and try it out. This tutorial makes pixinsight super easy and your images should improve. The difference was night and day for me. I thought I had mastered astrophotography after my first time using pixinsight

    Hi from England! I've been doing astrophotography myself for just over 12 months, so we're both on a similar trajectory I guess!? May I ask, is the SW EQM-35 good for tracking with the SW 150p? I've been thinking about getting the 150p and EQM-35 for a while but struggled to find anyone using this mount in astrophotography, so I'm guessing, based on your images, it is indeed tracking well enough for you? Thanks, Wes.

  • @jwdeepsky
    @jwdeepsky5 ай бұрын

    Hi Wes! Sounds like we're both on the right track! As far as the eqm-35 pro with the skywatcher quattro 150p - it tracks ok enough to get 2-3 minute subs (which is good enough for that scope) with minimal star trailing. Sometimes I'm unhappy with the amount of star trailing, but pixinsight really helps clean up the final image. The only other thing is that the 150p is notorious for having light leaks and being a challenge to collimate. That said, it does produce stunning images, and things can be done to mitigate the issues I mentioned. Cuiv the lazy geek has a couple videos on how to improve that scope

I want to know whether the Baud setting of 115200 was just for the EQMOD, or should I use it with my Losmandy G11? Also, why’d you select “No Limit” when doing Live Stacking?

I don't have a telescope, but instead I intend to use a DSLR and guide scope - Nikon D500 and ASI178MM. It looks like this should work and now I'm excited! I really appreciate that you value my time (our time) by realizing that we can stop and rewind as needed, so you show us what we need and move on. Great video!

    That's the way an IP workflow should be. I was always frustrated with the multitude of different applications and equipment in this hobby...using a separate cams or apps for polar align, guiding, planetarium, platesolving, photo sequencing, and stacking. Looks like ASIAIR might make the whole thing smooth and quick.
