That's an incredible deal, i know it has very low storage but that can be manually upgraded for a fraction of the cost. I wish i had known that when i was buying my 2015 15" MacBook Pro a few years ago, i would have bought the 128GB SSD version and swapped it out for 4TB SSD (yes, i could actually use that amount of storage over a 5 year period lol) I think the intel macbooks are gonna come down a lot in price over the next few months/years, i'm just glad that Windows 11 will run on the 2019 intel macbooks without any tweaks because i need to use some windows only softwares sometimes.

When purchasing from eBay, my preferences are to go for sellers with a feedback rating of 97-100% keeping in mind the number of items sold. Plus when they joined eBay. Never gone wrong with that.
Ventura is just fine there's no need to go to Sonoma and you should have just bought a complete package with the keyboard mouse and power plug and with an SSD for a hundred bucks more

I said it renders completely useless because the display is broken! It cannot be used and there is a password on the device. Therefore, I’m locked out of a broken computer. The laptop at most is worth $100. I paid over $200. They sent it to me knowing it has that issue and refused to give me a refund.
lol seeing the seller's fake pictures I see why they scammed you, they probably stole that macbook too be careful look at feedback and how old a seller profile is. I've seen some sweet 'deals' coming from brand new accounts and they are just scams

It sounds like a scam. The guy was trying to scam you. He knew that the computer didn’t work and try to sell it as if it wasn’t working and then lied to Ebay.
Why buy 2017 and risk butterfly keyboard and screen delaminating issues? Better off going with early 2015
Early 2015’s have more screen delaminations than the 2017’s. Really any Mac that’s a retina 2012 and up has the delamination issue. Never had issues with the butterfly keyboard either
Well buying 2017 Intel Macbook is well… not very wise. Fine getting 2015 for somebody who has not enough money but still. I would not buy anything Intel these days.
With the new M chips out those definitely make a difference. However, most Mac’s are Intel to this day and are definitely a lot cheaper. You get all the features that would get in an M chip MacBook. Accept you just get a device that’s a little bit slower and has a fan 🤷

I bought a 2017 4K iMac in 2019 and still use it daily even though I mainly use my M1 driver.

Any usb keyboard or mouse will work fine. lol, get both from my buddy for a buck as he has boxes and boxes from dell pickup. For some reason the Apple keyboard don’t last long in the eduction market
Open the imac slowly, you might need a second person to hold the screen and install a SSD, it will be well worth it, then if you install windows 11 pro on it, without bootcamp, use brigadier for bootcamp drivers, it will work wayy faster and will last longer, and the 4k screen looks amazing under windows 11. Would recommend a bunch of videos and research how to open the imacs, and after you put the screen back you can put tape on the top of the screen and aluminum part so you don't need to change adhesive.
Never buy used.
damn ebay is a my go to just have to make sure to look at the sellers reputation, ratings, reviews and how long they have been in the platform before picking up a good deal that may seem to good to be true
After installing sonoma and during restart you should keep pressing the option button so you can boot thru openxore patch for the firstbtime, thats why it get stuck!! Ive done this before

You got your money back. On Ebay that is a win. Move on. In my experience, it is always a crap shoot to buy used computers on Ebay. I only buy from highly rated sellers and even then I hold my breath when buying.
Nice. I bought a 2013 1080p from a friend who tried to swap the hybrid hdd when the old one died in 2017-ish. I bought for almost nothing. Ordered an ssd, a new screen cable which my friend broke when he opened the iMac. Put it back together and it worked perfectly. Sold other a month ago, and the buyer was happy with it.
That’s awesome for 200 bucks. Sonoma won’t boot because you need to run it through the opencore boot picker, to do that you need to go to the boot selector from the iMac, then select the EFI thing and you will go to another boot picker screen. This time you will select the actual macos Sonoma and that’s it. If the efi thing doesn’t show up you will need to plug the usb you used to install Sonoma.
I saw from the specs that your iMac has Ventura (macOS 13.6.3) installed. A week ago an update was released, now version 13.6.7 is available, that's likely what is indicated by the red number 1 superimposed over the System Preferences icon in the Dock. While on the subject of the Dock, it can be positioned ton the left or right side of the screen, not just the bottom where it can get in the way of larger documents.
You can use a Thunderbolt external SSD as a boot drive and it would be considerably faster than that slow 5400 rpm HDD. Just make sure you get a fast connection, this iMac has Thunderbolt 3 that's capable of up to 40 Gbps connection speeds.
Actually, when it comes to Macs, slow HDDs are not total junk as they can be repurposed as Time Machine backup drives. With Time Machine there's no real benefit in using SSDs over HDDs.
I bought one of those new after my 2011 15-in MacBook Pro died with a graphics card issue. I chose the middle of three 1TB storage types, the options being HDD, Fusion Drive or SSD. Later after it developed problems with the 32 GB SSD component of the Fusion Drive I had it replaced with a Samsung 1TB SSD, I'd already specified 16 GB of RAM. I'm no longer using it and will likely sell it to a buyback operator.

apple products are so over rated . they are all garbage .. windows is the best
There are some windows products that are good but most are garbage due to the the hardware that they use. Apples hardware in all of their devices are top tier making them super expensive but super reliable. 80% of windows devices are made from plastic and cheap parts, making them only last about 6 years before crapping out of becoming super slow.
@@JaydonWalter Mac os is built on Linux's systems that's why they last long . Tell them to use the same hardware and programming language as windows laptops use and we will see which one's are crap .. Windows is a powerful OS better than Mac OS .. Windows is great for gaming and it can handle pretty much any hardware that anyone can throw in. Don't talk about cheap parts because there are expensive windows running laptops which last longer than mac os .. tell me which macbooks last for longer period of time ?
I have had many 2010 MacBooks and older come into my hands for re sale. Many 2015’s, 2017’s, 2014’s, 2019’s all which work better than windows computers from that age. Yes windows is a great software for gaming however, if you are someone like me and use a computer for computing and productivity a Mac is a great choice. I don’t like windows at all but I can say there’s things about it that are better than macOS. Don’t be so naive and quick to assume. All software’s have their benefits and doubts. I like macOS because it’s similar to my iPhone and I can easy transfer files and texts across all platforms. I love how smooth macOS is and how easy it is to install. I also like not needing to purchase virus protection 😆

I guess it's been a month but I just saw this video. That's an lcd problem not a battery problem. I have done a few lcd fixes on windows computers which I know it's not a Mac but it's the same thing when a screen is broken. I just uploaded a screen replacement on my gaming computer this week as a matter of fact. The first one I broke myself, by accident.
My issues have always and only been from an Asian sellers…
