It's A Small Vlog

Welcome to It's A Small Vlog!

My name is Bobby, and I started this channel in September of 2021 when I was 15 years old. I am an aspiring Disney Vlogger, so I still have lots to learn, but even more to share! If you're into theme parks, breaking news, history, and everything in between, you've come to the right place! I cover a variety of topics on this channel so there's a little something for everyone to enjoy.

As of right now, this channel will be some vlogs coming from the Orlando theme parks, but primarily Walt Disney World. (I do live in Central Florida.) And aside from this, I'll keep updating my official Instagram account when I'm not active on KZread.

You can expect multiple video releases at least a couple times a month.

Thanks so much for being here, and as always... have a magical day!

    When I first saw the New Country Bears show when it was first posted online, I was BEYOND delighted. As a huge Country Bears fan, I loved that this show did something new, while still honoring the original. Plus, there's plenty of good humor in there too! While I will definitely miss the irreverent humor of the original, but this show is still so fantastic!

    I think Splash Mountain had a better storytelling. And more Animatronics. And was more fun, had more color and a real sense of “Adventure”. Princess Tiana deserved a really new ride and not just a sort of makeover. Maybe something more grounded on her past story. Well, just my opinion. I have 50 years visiting WDW (since 1974) once a year and I think there are some attractions that you can label as “classics”. Pirates, Mansion, Big Thunder, etc… Splash Mountain, for me, had that status. It was a classic! You can improve, add new effects, replace old animatronics, do such things, but never get rid of them, for whatever reason. But, again, It’s just an opinion from an old (and I mean it) Disney fan. Have fun, folks! ✌️

    Those “classic” attractions that you are referring too are also known as what the Disney community likes to call the “untouchables.” Honestly I agree that I would’ve considered Splash to fit this category as well!

    Funny you ask. When I was younger, the current restaurant called "Wind and Waves" used to be called "Shutters" and had a character breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald. A few years ago when they redid Shutters to become Wind and Waves, the character breakfast was omitted. Haven't been any characters since unfortunately.

    Test Track is going to open at about the same time as Epic Universe. It's actually good timing on Disney's part. They are going to add just enough new stuff to each park to make people feel that they need to visit the Disney parks while they are in town for Epic Universe.

    Such a great video bobby - your comments are cogent, thoughtful and engagingly expressed. I think the modernization / gentrification and homogenized look across the resorts (and even in the parks) is a real mistake and, frankly, a tragedy. The reason you go to disney, and in recent years, pay such an increasingly exorbitant and nonrealistic price for the privilege, is to be immersed in the creativity and unique artistry of the experience. If it all looks the same and shares the generic post modernist look and feel of so much of the world, then why bother? Walt Disney was a visionary, one of the greatest the world has known - he didnt believe in generic experiences - you have only to look at the incredible freshness and creative risks of his animated films (Fantasia remains one of the most avant garde films from a major studio in history). The creation of Disneyland alone was a magnificent risk, both financially and artistically. To see that sense of danger and disregard for the safe choice slowly melt away into a complacent and repetitious lack of vision is tragic. The company and parks are still able to expand their horizons and create unique experiences - there is true artistry and vision expressed in both Rise of the Resistance and Runaway Railway - new attractions that take traditional material and re-fashion it into something fresh and magical. A while back the beautifully detailed overlay of the haunted mansion into Nightmare before Christmas was another fine example. But those flashes of magic are becoming few and far between - you have only to look at the limp, lackluster and confused storytelling of Tiana's or the utterly unimaginative and prosaic response to having to create a replacement for the majestic magic of the Dragon in the finale of Disneyland's Fantasmic to see just how strained and dull things have become. Its time for Disney to honor the man who gave his life and art to the company that bears his name and spirit - and the only way to do that is to create and innovate, not repeat and re-create.

  • @itsasmallvlog
    @itsasmallvlogАй бұрын

    Someone who gets it! Yes, absolutely agree with everything stated here. I think Disney has gotten content lately that “they’re always going to be the best, and always number 1 in the industry.” But they won’t be if they don’t prove it. They must continue to take risks and invest and be the leader in innovation and customer service in the business they are in. But for whatever reason, it seems like with each passing day they stray further away from that philosophy, and it’s frustrating to understand why.

    I hear you, I also appreciated diving more into Tiana's world and, yes, I'm also surprised we got something that... doesn't have ánything to do with why we love that world's characters. And that's not even talking about the very repetitive ("you found more musicians, yay") and bland use of 10 full minutes of ride time. Plenty of reviews have indeed positively reviewed it as "cute" and "fun" but geez, Imagineering should prioritize story more than anyone. Impressive technology is fun but it should only support story and emotion. I'm sure that's a direct Imagineering quote. I appreciate people being in tune enough with Imagineering principles to call out that this ride concept was just a big fail. ANYWAY, fabulous review video, I'm glad I found your channel.

    When Bob Iger states its boring, then you have a problem. If they had a limited budget that is when WDI should have gone to Bob and asking for more money. The outcome of this attraction shows what you get when you rush it and think you have a great attraction, when in the end you don't. I possibly foresee this attraction going down for a few months while they put more money into it to get it to where it actually needs to be. My dear "friend" Brer Bear and I spent many days at this mountain and the revamp does not do justice. First the only "mountain" in the New Orleans area is on Avery Island. The back story of Splash does not even come close to what they did here. I understand WDI went this route possibly in order to get Tiana in this space, but for history sake possibly not the best choice. Disneyland's Splash had about 100 and WDW had 63 or so animatronics in their killed attraction and Tiana has about 29. A lot of dark dead space. Splash had you looking everywhere because there was more to see and it was done went the folks at WDI actually knew what they were doing. In time WDI may get this right, but for me right now they miss and missed big times.

    I do hope you share this review on all of your platforms. Because you're the most honest one I've seen. Not because your opinion matches mine, though I haven't ridden it, but because you actually processed with your mind and feelings what you experienced. I'm watching all of the reviews and it seems like most of the people who have posted didn't actually process any of the ride with their mind and feelings. They just looked around and said, oooh ahhh... and then that's how they reviewed it - "it was so cute and oooh ahhh..." In conclusion, I'm sorry you wanted to like it and didn't. I personally doubted it from the beginning so I don't have any disappointment in the results of this ride. Besides the fact that - My disappointment is that they tore out my favorite ride and replaced it with something with no excitement or anticipation or fun and really looks cheap and boring .

    While I have not rode it yet so I can’t say anything about the ride itself one thing I can say is that splash mountain as it was when it closed wasn’t in great shape. The animatronics were always busted and the lighting was always wonky so them coming in and cleaning it up and the top tier animatronics are great to have (and as much as I love Navi river that ride really is only for the one great animatronic, while these are really good and we have multiple!) the biggest issue I’d have now, which Disneyland won’t have, is being in Frontierland. It’s stirring between thunder and the rest of the land, but for what they could do it seems nice with the new train station and everything (sorry for the rant especially since I havnt rode it)

  • @itsasmallvlog
    @itsasmallvlogАй бұрын

    Thanks for your thoughts! I agree - Splash Mountain was not in great shape when it closed down, but that's where I think it might've made more logistical sense to simply give Splash Mountain a lengthy refurbishment. Replacing all the animatronics, investing money into the attraction, etc... and then give Tiana her own separate attraction. This would have resolved the issue of fitting in with Frontierland and the issue I have with this ride story-wise. (Although Frontierland might end up becoming a thing of the past sometime soon, but who knows!)
