They sell it all. Between the motor, battery, and adapter, you would be spending around $1500-1800 depending what battery you purchase with it. It’s a good option for motorizing a kayak but expensive too.

I got my lynx setup with the versa rudder and have a few test runs in. I was skeptical at first but really surprised at how well pole steering works. So far so good. I bunge the pole to the seat, so it stays in place when I let go of the pole, but it still slides back / forth easily. A roto grip also works to keep it in place. I mostly go for salmon on puget sound.

I liked your rudder so much, that I would like to put it on my hobie kayak revo 13 from 2013. Would it be compatible to put it on and be able to use my steering lines to turn?

After the rudder and motor are deployed, is it possible to bring them out of the water from the seat, while you are on the water? Such as to check motor for weeds, etc... It looks like you have to first "pull up" with the cable, which might be difficult from the seat?

The first answer below was not totally correct... sorry 😞! The fin installed on the kayak in this video is a DIY fin we installed on a kayak so the motor slides into it. Therefore you need to turn the adapter to accommodate that fin box. Most fin boxes are positioned in the opposite direction. So the direction you see the fin in the start of the video is the direction that will fit most standard fin boxes on the market. Hope that makes sense! Believe us... it took us a few watches ourselves to figure this one out... 😂🤣

Why does the motor have to be so deep below the kayak, couldn't it be shorter so you wouldn't have to worry as much about hitting under water debris like dead tree's?

  • @Kgoutdoor

That’s way too deep for the fishing most of us do in a kayak. I want to be able to run a trolling motor in 1’ -1.5 of water. This looks like you need 2’

I saw your reply to a similar question about vegetation getting in the prop. My question is: if this does occur, will it damage the prop or just cause it to stall out until unclogged?
