They make some really awesome and not much more expensive than regular C clip pliers that ratchet down and make it so you don't have to hold the tension on them when installing you just squeeze it down and it holds itself. Getting the back of the clip started first then working to the ends of the clip also helps. Another trick is to use a socket that goes over the shaft and inside the tube and use it to tap the seal back enough to show the C clip groove fully. Just some tricks from a heavy equipment mechanic.
Awesome, I appreciate the thoughts man!
Thank you!
Mike, Thanks for the demonstration! Where did you get the new gaskets and lubes?
Got them from a local bike shop. But you can get them online at jenson usa, worldwide cyclery, etc.
Please for the love of God, leave out the music, totally ruins and makes it unwatchable
Thanks mate, just put in a GX shifter myself. So much better than my NX. Good tutorial. 👍🏼
Enjoy your new shifter! Thanks for watching!
Good job! and thanks for the lovely video!
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate you!
Next time hit the Chute after the jump line on Millstone! It's off the zero trail.
Will do!
7:13 for pedals I heard the easiest way to remember is just tighten by turning up and toward the front of the bike regardless of the side of the bike. Turn up and to the tail of the bike to loosen.
Yep you got it
Before the incident almost a year ago this seemed to be one of the safest places in the US. Doesn’t feel that way anymore.
Pedepress ?😮
Pedal press more control bicker fork me😅
Awesome video, I am upgrading my ebike from 203 to 220 and this video helped a lot.
Awesome! Super happy it helped!!
I love the birds in the background. Thanks for the video, great content.
Thank you!
I have 32mm inner rims and when I got 32mm tape it didn’t cover the entire thing because the rim dips down a little in the center so I had to get 32mm tape in order to cover it up completely
what's the location of the best trail head
Sorry it took a bit to get a reply for you. I prefer bottom road as there are lots of trails to choose from there. Gps bottom rd steel Bridge lgp white trail for address.
back sound is to loud
Thanks for letting me know.
Just found your channel, actually was looking for info to service the Rockshox 35 gold that came on my Giant Trance. I am a Giant fan (pun intended) I couldn't agree more about your views on Giant and the Trance models, they are wonderful bikes. I have a different model the Trance X 29 3 but had the two same issues. I broke the SX derailleur, very soon after purchasing it when a small twig broke the plastic ripping it off my bike, which I replaced with NX and have had no issues for a couple years now. The next weak points are the shock and fork since I have the lowest level 3 build. But I have ridden it with them for years and the bike is still very capable, local trail riding to Snowshoe bike park. My sons started with 2019 27.5 aluminum Trances and loved them. Sadly, they were stolen but we liked the Trances so much and they each got 2022 27.5 Trance X 1. Still aluminum but with upgraded suspensions, Fox 36 Grip2 160 and Fox Float X 145 shocks. The improved suspension makes the bike that was so good even better. Made me realize how bad my shock is and that at a minimum I need to see if I could improve it, anyway great channel keep posting, looks like you have a bunch of great videos I need to check out.
Thank you so much!!!! Glad to hear your a giant fan as well. The trance is a great bike!!
Oh 😱 sorry man... Injuries are the worst bummer in this sport. I broke my radius June 2023 I had surgery 21th of july, August I was back on the bike but last march I crashed into a guy at the pump track now my hip won't stop hurting. Part of the game apparently 😅
Oof, so sorry to hear about your hip. I hope it gets better for you! I think we all love riding so much that we just keep getting back on the bike. I'm looking forward to taking it easy and working my way back on the trails. Will be nice to use my thumb again too lol. Have a great day!
The weirdest thing about that steel chainring is that mine rounded quite fast, I replaced it with a 7075 aluminium 30t goldix chinese chainring and it's still perfectly sharp with about double the distances on it. Steel shouldn't wear that fast 🤔 *I did clean the threads and put red locktite, when I removed the stock chainring it was the same as the GX cranks I have there's a drop on each screw. Idk if I did wrong or not we'll see next replacement 😅
my rockshox gold rl 130mm can i extent it 160mm?
Yes you can. Remove the alltravel spacers. With all of the spacers gone the fork will be 160mm. You may have to add oil to the compression leg to make up the difference in travel length. But it is all possible.
Does it come with a sleeve for the cable or just the bare cable?
Hi, It only comes with the cable...no sleeve.
Golden bike, nice but gold is heavy...
How fast can you go up the hill?
I really like the way you were stroking that lube on the axle! 😂 I just picked up a trance x elite that has a fox fork with the pinch bolt and kabolt axle. News to me but thanks for the video to clear things up….. on how to stroke the kabolt!!
lol lots of practice haha. Glad the video helps!
Hi bro Ive the same fork Im facing a problem My fork has a little play on left side bushings Is it a mejor problem? My extensions are fine
Depends on the definition of little. Next time u service take it to a specialist to check. Might be a warranty. Hard to be specific without seeing it in person.
Even though I'm servicing a different fork, there are lots of little tips that other videos don't have. Thank you!
Thank you!
Nce ride review. Im confused about one thing though, the suspension controls, where are they?
They are on the top and bottom of the right fork leg. Shock has controls on top section of it.
@@mikemtbs this bike is more downhill oriented right?
It is a little more than a trail bike
Не протереть штаны от стружки... И собирать на улице где ветер, пыль и песок, да вам только пружино эластамерные с ногами 28мм обслуживать)
What are the psi settings? Thanks
Depends on your weight. But I was riding around 60psi
Thanks for the video, got the same swap this weekend because the SX shifter will not fit the Shimano M6100 brake levers on the brakes I'm switching to, seems the NX and GX shifters have a clamp with the bolt at the bottom so should be fine.
read the manual DM-MBBR001-04 page 8 You must not use the Disc brake mount adapter in combination with the SM-RT86. It is strictly prohibited.
Thanks for the heads up. Everyone look at this guy's post
I researched into this. With some centerlock to 6 bolt rotors you are unable to use the adapter as the metal center flange is milled too thick so the bolts won't fully tighten to the rotor. Thanks for bringing it up for clarification. Also in some applications the rotor is too close to the fork leg and rubbing may occur between the brake caliper adapter and the rotor. More info if your interested on reddit forums.
Great video, very enjoyable to watch! I just got a new bike, the AT2024, my first bike since getting back into biking. I went all out and got everything I wanted. However, it came with the Fit 4 Damper on the Fox 38s, 170mm LSR top and bottom, with the 3-switch compression (fully open, medium, and closed). It's quite stiff, but I've been riding shocks all my life until an accident, and to be honest, I'm very impressed with how the Fit 4 Damper is tuned! I will be looking to get the new X or X2 Damper at some point, though. I think it's good enough for what I need it to do right now! There's still a lot of adjustment in the Fit 4; it's quite impressive. My friend at the track has the Grip 2 Damper, and he's always getting that set up, same with the Float X. I might swap mine for an X2, but it's a brand-new bike. I've already gotten rid of the carbon bars and 50mm stem in favor of a 35mm Burgtec high-rise 38s. It feels a lot better! Already I think the low 25mm bars I was to far over the front on them feels made for the bikenthese burgtec bars so given these ago this summer and see what's next!
The fit4 damper is great! I hope you enjoy your new bike!!!
Another great vid. Thanks man. Saving these for future reference. BTW rad bike!
Thanks man! Have a great day
Excellent video
Thank you so much!
I live near here and never knew the park was there.
It's a great trail system!
Thank you! great job with clear instructions and good video work.
Thank you!
i just bought a Rockshox Domain RC 160mm. Unfortunately to add travel i have to buy a new air spring. I'm thinking of going to 180mm. It sucks to have to buy a new air spring but atleast it's not too expensive at only about $45.00. I'm just iffy about taking the fork apart.
I completely understand. Buying something expensive then Buying something else for it sucks. Your gonna need to buy oil for the lowers and a torque wrench for the bottom bolts...just so you don't overnighter them.
How are you adjusting the negative chamber
There is no adjustment. No dimple on inner stantion to allow air to pass. Only negative chamber fills on top out after big hit.
@@mikemtbs Thanks, i understand. But is there any travel lose because of too much air pass to negativa chamber?
@dimitar9355 no, you can get suck down...fork too low in travel w no weight on bike. But loose...no
nice ps: 22:06 - you can put a bit of 15wt on the uppers to slide in the lowers a bit easyer
Great tip!
it's cool that they include a stem cap since it can be hard finding a cap that matches the stem color. I just ordered the bronze colored stem. I'm hoping it's the same bronze color as the e*thirteen Helix chainring I just ordered which in turn I'm hoping is the same bronze color as the titanium bronze colored bolts I have on my bike from Better Bolts. If the stem is the same colored as the Better Bolts bolts then I'll order some stem bolts from them to replace the black bolts that come with the stem.
Thank you for the vid! Just what I needed
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Another great video. One day, do a SRAM brake lever replacement. Common thing guys bend on crashes. Replacing is a little complicated
Very cool, thanks for the idea! Hope you have a great day!
What kind od bike is that? Looks BA! Fox kashima coating looks so nice lol, they know what theyre doing. Want this this nice coating? Thousand dollars please :)
Thanks so much for the compliment. It's a 2020 giant trance advanced. I've made a lot of modifications to it from stock. And yes it's the 36 factory grip 2 damper. Lots of deals on parts lately and Ive been replacing parts as they wear out or fail.
shop.ridefox.com/products/my23-36-29-factory-160mm Check this link they are on sale.
@mikemtbs wow, dude, that's a smoking deal. if I didn't just buy a trek fuel ex7 gen6, I would be all over that. Thank you for the link. You sir, just earned a sub and a like lol.
@mattmorrison9379 thanks so much! Enjoy your new bike!!
Really clear and helpful
Glad to hear that!
I bought a Yari instead of this bc they were the same price. Rockhopper comp.
Great choice!
What do you/anyone recommend ? Which is better: RockShox Recon Silver RL D1 ? RockShox Recon RL-R D1 ? RockShox Yari RC B3 ? - but I don't see below 160mm and I don't intend to jump big jumps. But I would like I could jump OFC if I get that adrenaline rush. I'm not really fan of American brands so if there exists competition brand like from Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Finland, Switzerland and South Korea maybe please let me know. I intend to use my bike for daily commuting, off road and city joy rides. I'm new to suspension forks but I studied basic stuff how to set it in different terrain and what is all needed to change/fit new fork on specific bike. My fork on new bike come with damage so I intend to return it for same model or exchange it for better one if I can when they tried to screw with me and offered me some discount when I confronted them. (over email with photos, there are more stuff but its not on topic) I have this fork: "RockShox 35 Silver, steel spring, stroke: 120 mm, Aluschaft 1 1/8 - 1 1/2 '' tapered, Boost axle" 27.5" One I got has Lockout and Rebound I checked yesterday, it wasn't specified on web. (and some don't have LR) But suspension its so hard now I think morons over inflated Air shock... and that's probably why I was thinking before "the handlebars height is too high for me" and that I should have chosen smaller frame... (I calculated frame for my height before buying bike and I know about adjusting Air shock pressure for my weight) Question If it doesn't say Compression like on this Gold and just "Lockout" is it binary / on and off ? No possible adjustment like leaving it in middle settings ? And I read some negative comments about this fork (Edit: Silver 35) and I'm unsure was it just about missing Lockout and Rebound, or it is really "just crappy fork" that they put on bikes to lower the price of bikes, and should I try exchange it for some better... I read also this fork cannot be upgraded except for LR if it doesn't have. (Silver 35) And I don't see this forks in stores anymore...
Buy a Marzocchi Z2. Their on sale now. You will love it and it won't break the bank. I think they are 100mm to 140mm. Italian company that was recently bought by fox.
I’m here for the puns!
Hah!
Hi mate. Great video 👌 Can you tell me if those volume spacers will fit a Deluxe RLC3 Nude shock?
It seems they really only sell one or 2 sizes. I can't tell you for sure. But if you ask worldwide cyclery or jenson usa they will find the right part for you
@@mikemtbs when I opened the air can I realized that the Nude is a bit different from yours on the video... I'll ask the guys you advised. Thanks mate!
