The mission of Dj’s Aviation is to be the publics' first choice for regular developments within the Aviation industry. This includes Aviation news, analysis, opinion pieces, and more. The passion for aviation itself fuels me to continue to inform people of all knowledge levels in the industry and create a welcoming environment for all.
I'm Dan and the sole member of Dj's Aviation. Being just 20 I've had a passion for Aviation for over 14 years now, trips to the airport when I was younger were a regular occurrence and since then I've been hooked. With this passion that I have, I've created a channel to share that very same passion. I hope that I can further fuel your passion for Aviation on this channel as well.

Itll be interesting to see what replaces the A380 for the airlines that actually seem to rely on it for dense routes (basically Emirates ans shockingly ANA with their NRT-HNL route.
Considering Boeing inability to produce and sell more airplanes. I believe lufthansa and other airlines will resume and use a330 and a380 as long as they can!
The philippine airlines will place a total of 85+ airbus aircraft
This stage they don’t plan to fly supersonic over land. There is plenty of demand and as long as they can keep the operating costs per passenger reasonable enough, there is tons of demand. The Concord was a design of the 60’s, a lot of technology in aircraft has improved since then.
Flair had previously offered Ottawa to Las Vegas direct using a 737Max8 but have cancelled that route. Porter is doing a great job picking up these long thin routes where there is demand but not enough to fill a 737.
Seel the older aircraft's 😢
Aren’t the 747-400s about 50 years old?
No they are 20-30 years old
A330-300 not 200
It is the three A330-200 that are being retired. This is clearly stated in the Lufthansa Group media release of 31 July 2024. The A330-300 aircraft are not being retired. Three A330-200 aircraft are operated by the Discovery Airlines subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group.
Thanks Dj!!
Lufthansa should retire their old and inefficient aircrafts as soon as possible. Please think of our children and children's children. If we don't change our mindset now, the environment will be destroyed soon
Beautiful video, I’m glad to see you’ve been able to bring your passion into what you do so many years on!
Change the thumbnail. AirNZ is no where near a collapse 🤣
Cathay Pacific this is only temporary 😂😂😂😂
Probably started on about 40 million dollars, no one is worth that ever, not even 2 million, all they do is sit in meetings.
So what will Lufthansa bring to places like DFW, and JFK with the retirement of a330 and a340 and 747-400
777, A350-1000 or existing types.
@@basti279 ok
Guess I need to get on a A340-600. all the other ones I've been on.
Spectacular performance and good new for Cathay! Impressive! Not long ago, I remember they were seemingly on the edge.
Maybe Everts should snap up some of those long-in-the-tooth A340 airframes.
. . .if not Everts Air Fuel, FedEx, maybe?
Didn't Lufthansa just announce a few months ago that they will fly the 747 well into the 2030s?
They will fly the 747-8 into the mid 30s
God forbid they have a crash they’re really going to regret that name “Boom."
Hey Dj correction rq Lufthansa has the A330-300 not the 200
No correction required. At the start of the segment Dj specified that he was talking about Lufthansa Group and Lufthansa Group operates three A330-200 as part of the Discover Airlines subsidiary.
I thought the same thing. LH got rid of their-200s 20 years ago. If he’s talking about the Group it would be wise to show Discovery not LH 330 clip.
Lufthansa has been focused on lowering costs for more than 10 years, and it shows in their inferior products when compared to other airlines, even European airlines. No one should cry for them though. They're a fairly profitable airline, thanks to the cost cutting. Further cuts are only intended to increase profits, which already shows in their new cabins. And, is it just me, or does this channel talk about Lufthansa an awful lot?
Those 747-8 ‘s are fairly new but -400 needs to go but they have to many types in the fleet
B777X too will meet B737CRAX fate.
Could you please add chapters to your videos, DJ?
I hope the A-380 goes to Global Airlines.
probably wont
The should simplify things and retire the 350s also!
This thinking and statement can only come from someone with a very simple mind.... this on the subject of simplification
They should cancel their 787 orders and retire their available ones instead
Will miss LH's 747-400 on the YVR - FRA summer route. Any idea what the replacement aircraft will be. They have the lower capacity 787-9 on the winter schedule. Hopefully the 777-9?
20 777-9 and 10 A350-1000 are yet to be delivered to them. probably more -1000s to be ordered once they are retiring these older aircraft
@@nickolliver3021 An LH employee told me that they plan to have the A350's based out of Munich and 787-9's out of Frankfurt with the 747's. 777-9?
@@roberthowell7095 that's nice to hear
Rex's recent E190 services to Perth looked interesting though, I was considering one of those before the administration. If ever Rex or another entrant starts up some competition again for Qantas and VA, E190s, E2 jets or A220s might be the better way to go in Australia, like with QantasLink/Alliance E190s.
A380 to Bali😍
I think we all knew this was coming with the 747-400 and a340s knowing they are one of the last passenger airlines to fly this type in such large numbers
Yes, you are correct, and this is old news. The delivery times for wide bodies are years, and the 777X (that LH has had on order for about a decade now) has been continually delayed. Blame Boeing.
Yeah, Lufthansa is run by USA fanboys, and cannot understand the risk they took on over the last decade insisting on ordering Boeing...
@@bensteyn1974 No blame the Lufthansa management, which was unwilling to look at Boeing and the mounting quality problems...
Slowly, all airlines notice that the first "tsunami" of demand right after the pandemic levels down to a normal "wave" of seasonal demand. And airlines start to ruin themselves again by trying to beat each others ticket pricing.
I reckon the 340 / 300 will be scrapped the 747 and 330 cud end up as freighters
At least the 400s
@@stevesmoneypit6137 probably wont
the 400s will probably be scrapped
Depending on their condition the A330-200 could go back to Airbus for conversion to MRTTs. Hopefully at least one of the A340s will go to an aviation museum but the rest of the A340s and the 747-400s will probably be scrapped.
The Lufthansa fleet is impressive. An aviation enthusiasts dream.
Good job for Cathay group to finish the mission important - repaying the debts. It is time to rebuild
The Cathay Pacific make quite a lot of their jet sitting around at HK, last time I ride on B-LQF to SFO was arriving back to HK at 3pm but sit around till midnight for our flight, quite unusual for Cathay which usually schedule their flight as tight as possible.
Lufthansa has been operating too many different types IMHO. They basically operate almost all Boeing and Airbus types and while they removed the 737 previously, just before the blown out door incident, they ordered 70 737 MAXs. The A340 was phased out during the pandemic and they actually never planned to bring it back and then they had to. The 747 is now a pain to operate and limiting themselves to the 747-8 makes sense.
The 747-8s are (new) jets...the oldest one is maybe 12-13 years old.
Lufthansa are badly run what about IAG they are doing great making money and starting to pay dividends again due to good cash flow and BA making up half their profits yet you never report on them.
2:03 it's a330-300 not -200
Throughout he talked about Lufthansa Group. Lufthansa Group operates A330-200 as part of the Discovery Airlines fleet and those are being retired.
At least they're keeping the 747-8i
only for 4 more years
@@nickolliver3021He said the 747-400, not -8i.
@@MC_079 the -800s wont last long either
@@nickolliver3021those dash 8’s are about 10 years old probably not going anywhere it’s more efficient than a-380 about 15 %
There's no 747-800. There's the 747-8i, and with Lufthansa putting in new cabins in them, those will be around for a while, probably longer than the A380.
Hai 😔 Gotta book a last A340-600 flight before it's retired...
Mahan air though?
Good On Cathay Pacific.Great Video And Info
More A350-1000 and they still have the 747-8 and A380.
LH doesn’t have A350-1000’s
@@spunker3 They have 10 on order though
Where will the Lufthansa aircraft go? The airbuses to Discover or other group airlines or are all going to be scrapped?
Yeah I’m wondering that too. I think they should give them to another airline. I think they should give the a380s to Emerates or global instead of wasting them. The a340s i honestly have no clue where they would go.
A330 only to Discover Airlines, the A340s i don't know really
@@katiestack9425Lufthansa is keeping the A380s at first. Those will receive a new cabin (not Allegris, but a new cabin) and will be phased out probably after 2030. The 332s will certainly go to Discover, the 340s probably either to (LH) Cargo or be sold/scrapped.
@@Clearofprop3430 The report was about Lufthansa Group as a whole not Lufthansa Airline. The announcement is on the Lufthansa Group website. The aircraft types are being retired from the Lufthansa Group and will not be transferred to other airlines within the Group.
