A fun fact, I served in the Belgian Fourteenth Artillery Regiment (14A) in Spich, Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The ventilation grilles on the sides of our Gepards were black and dirty. That was because the Belgian army used "white diesel". Diesel with additives that caused the exhaust gases to produce black smoke. To ensure that staff do not refuel their own cars for free. Anyone with a civilian vehicle emitting a plume of black smoke could be checked and the white dye would 'stick' in the fuel tank, increasing the chance of being caught. Belgian professional soldiers stationed in Germany had a special license plate that made them easily recognized. And that's why our grilles were black... ;-)

Hello, I stumbled over this video by chance. I don't know what your intention is regarding model building, but from all available Gepard SPAAV kits it seems you selected the worst. The kit dates from 1975 and has far less details even than the Tamiya kit, which is from 1977. The Heller kit uses the same lower hull for Leopard 1 and Gepard, what means that it is missing the characteristic gap between the 3rd and the 4th road wheel which you can see on original Gepard tanks. The gap is the result of an elongated lower hull to accommodate the more sophisticated equipment of the anti-aircraft tank. Heller as well as Tamiya never really took notice from this fact. The overall detailing of the Heller model seems quite low. Not a good kit to start with "Professional build quality scale models".
