A Moment with Dad

A Moment with Dad

Welcome!

My name is Matt and I am privileged to be a single dad to 3 amazing kids. This channel is the place where lessons, thoughts and moments in time can be preserved for when my kids are ready to learn the things that I would love to teach them. Maybe they are away serving in the Armed Forces, way too young or otherwise just not ready to hear what dad is hoping to share. Through this channel, dad can be here waiting until they are ready and able.

I'm making these videos public as I can imagine there might be people who could benefit from some of the topics discussed. Additionally, I hope experts of the topics discussed would add additional insight for my kids, and others, in the comments of the video(s) related to their expertise.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to come watch a video or two!

Love, Dad

    As I understand, they cannot move until someone "taps" them out. It's quite a sight of discipline watching them stand still as so many people rush in and round them 😊

    I'm 56 years old and I have spent every summer up there, camping. It is the favorite place in my heart. I still look at the lake through the eyes of a child. Awestruck, just amazing. The smells everything about it. I'm glad it is still a sacred place for many. It hasn't changed either. Except for the log across the south east side of the lake is sinking deeper. My dad walked way out on the log when I was probably 5 and it terrified me! I hope you love it up there. Such an amazing area. Full of mystery and awe. Thank you for the wonderful video. I can tell you care about it too. You are not swimming in there and tearing up the landscape. 😊

    Agreed! It is a very special place! It's mind boggling to me how clear the water is. For being so remote, it's incredibly accessible for those willing to make the drive. One of my favorite other memories there is walking down the down the Pacific Crest Trail to Timothy Lake. Not only is the forest peaceful and beautiful, but meeting through hikers and hearing their stories is inspiring. I do absolutely care about the place. I had actually called the Forest Service to make sure that there wasn't a rule or regulation that prohibited me from putting the GoPro in the water. When I did put it in, I took pains to ensure it didn't touch any of the landscape 😊

    @amomentwithdad yes, we received our 72 hour phone call. It was very short but I enjoyed every second. I'm hoping that he will be able to make another phone call soon. Maybe over the holidays. .I will be more than happy to take any information you have. This is our first son joining the Air Force. My youngest son which is 16 is an ROTC program at his high school and he'll be joining the Airforce as soon as he graduates also. My brother-in-law has been in the Air Force for over 20 years he is a major, so I use him as an example for my sons. I'm going to be going through this for a while lol.

    That is so great, having so many people serve in your family! You're welcome to email me. My aspiration is to add a page on my website with the tips listed for folks, but life's busy enough I'm not sure when that will happen. It can be a little overwhelming with all of the unknows of who's going to be where, when, for how long, "was that him?" and so on :) My email is [email protected]

    4:32 dang that "congratulations, you are now American citizens" hit me. I don't recall them doing this during my graduation. I never even really thought about all the people who gained American citizenship. I can't imagine what the graduation felt like for them

  • @amomentwithdad
    @amomentwithdad7 ай бұрын

    I felt the same way! Great point, I'd imagine their graduation experience was on a whole different level. The graduation I shot in April of this year didn't have that part. It seems to be pretty new.

    Congratulations, Did they not have a 6 person limit? Curious since I will be there for my son in January.

  • @amomentwithdad
    @amomentwithdad7 ай бұрын

    Congratulations! You are correct, there is a maximum number of 6 guest passes allowed. Service members with a military ID can bring up to 5 people with them. Not that we had any on this trip, but minors also do not need a pass. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding the limit is related to number of passes that can be issued. If you haven't already started following USAF Basic Military Training on FB, it has a lot of great information. They also have a website, if you are not on FB. ... I just looked it up again on that FB group and the FAQ post from 12/10/2023, slide one - second question is regarding passes. It states six guests are allowed who require installation access. The second slide - second question states DOD ID card holders can escort up to 5 visitors onto JBSA. I was there for a graduation in April and November this year. If you'd like to email me, I'd be happy to share some tips I've learned. If you haven't considered it, I am available to come create a similar video and photo compilation for you and your graduate. Thanks for the question!! [email protected] austinphotographic.com

    Were Radar and Sheriff O ‘Reilly competing? It was hard to see if they were there. But, the other dogs are probably like “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” when it comes to Radar. Love all of those hard-working pooches and their handlers.
