You know the killer? She actually engineered this entire song. She DID get a piano track from the pianist, but she determined the harmonies and sang them all herself. And she's very adept at using multitrack decks and professional sequencing software to do this at her home studio BY HERSELF. She's such an incredible singer that her brilliance in audio engineering is overshadowed. She's utterly remarkable. This may be the twentieth time I've heard this and I cry every time, her singing is that gorgeous.

One perceives that although Dusty sang it quite nicely, only Tori has been able to capture the essence of how Karen would have sung it. Tori seems to have mentally and emotionally grasped what the creative genius of Karen consisted of. Thus it seems she is able to provide us with what amounts to a beautiful post mortem rendition of Karen Carpenter as if she has almost , as it were, brought her back from the grave.

Beautiful reaction. This song was written by Richard Carpenter for Karen. Unfortunately she never had the opportunity to record it as she passed away prematurely. The song was recorded instead by Dusty Springfield. Only now did Tori recreate the beauty of this song as Karen would have sung it.
