I'm just about to make one of these but thought I'd try a garden irrigation system. It has adjustable nozzles so in theory you could also create mist or fog. You have a good system there but I think the water droplets are too big and uniform and the flash freezes the action. It looks a little like the beaded curtains you use to keep the flies out in a doorway! Are your holes adjustable? Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking it!
Very iinformative. As someone who shoots a lot of cars may I suggest having the headlights or at least running lights on, as it gives the vehicle nicer form.
Thank-you guys 🎉
Great shots & tips 📷
Stunning photos, well done. Really appreciate the information.
Wow, beautiful images and great video!
Thanks Steve!
Nice results!
Thanks!
I asked you about HSS on the Westcott Facebook group. Im shooting a ballerina today in the midday sun and will be experimenting with HSS. Thank you for your video. Beautiful shots.
Well, great to see you here! Show us the pics when you're finished.
Well, unfortunately didn’t use any strobes. Just one reflector. The light was bloody awful, too crowded and a nervous model. Maybe I can talk her into a studio shoot. Plus, it was hotter than blazes. I posted a shot on the Westcott group anyway 😊
great videoooo
Glad you enjoyed it
I've never had an issue with a Godox trigger. Seems like the Wescott stuff is pretty unreliable.
Nice try, I've been running the largest workshop company in California for 15 years. I have seen a whole lot of godox triggers go in the trash over the years, more than any other brand. We've traveled the world with Westcott gear, why, because it just works and we make our gear work hard...
Love my Westcott gear. Couldn’t unload my Godox fast enough after switching to Westcott.
@@PanopticChopsticks Ahh you're one of those guys. I get it now. Cary on.
Terrific job! , fantastic pictures! Lot of information in your brief explanation. Thanks for sharing! 😃🍻
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome work
Thanks a lot 😊
Really like the lighting with both natural and added lighting. 😊👍
Thanks so much
May I ask what kind of light stand was it?
Great Video!
Thanks
Such a great day! Can't wait to go back next year!!!
Too bad music licensing doesn't fly well on youtube, this video would have been perfectly set to some Fleetwood Mac!
I heard those batteries don’t work well on all Nikon cameras. For me, Z8 was an issue. Still a problem ?
That's what we use them for, our z8 cameras without issue and they last twice as long as the Nikon batteries.
Thanks. Is there a trick to getting such a small gap between X-Drop Pro and floor. Mine is more like the one under your X-Drop. Maybe 2-3”. Thanks.
The stretchy (jersey knit ) backdrops all do that, the canvas ones do not.
🔥🔥🔥 great info
Here is one of the bug sprays we love: www.amazon.com/s?k=Repel+Permethrin&crid=ORW6N8K7GVXJ&sprefix=repel+permethrin%2Caps%2C311&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Please bring all of your model and yourselves back to Hawaiʻi
That was great. Short, informative and to the point. Go, team!
Appreciate the video, a word of advice though, a "with" and "without" side to side comparison would visualise the effect of using the modifier and help the audience to understand it better.
Awesome video Chopstick guys! Definitely prefer the flash, being able to capture the subject and the background. Do you have any tips on good ways to gauge the settings on the Westcott FJ400 when exposing for the background and fill flash for the subject?
Thank for the kind words and for watching. When shooting with flash it is always a best practice to get your desired exposure for the background with the flash turned off. Once you have the desired results for the background you can start adding flash. When going for a darkened background you usually need much less light on the subject so start with a lower power and adjust from there. It is very easy to over power your subject with light.
@@PanopticChopsticks Perfect! That’s great advice thank you I’ll be giving that a try today!
Wow that last shot of Jordon!!!!! And my lovely friend Claudia. My goodness!!
I prefer flash for sure
Thanks for watching. We love flash!
Flash for sure.
Thanks for watching and we agree.
Hey Steve I prefer the images when you have used the Strobe, I am not a fan of blown out background, love your videos Chopstick guy's. from Australia👍 Thank you
Thanks for watching from down under!
Are you in HSS Mode?
Your Essentials pack, does it have “small” in description ? It’s the only one I can find. States 13” laptop and some 15”. Is this the one 16” fits in. Thanks.
Here is the Backpack we were using in the video it was the Airport Essentials backpack. Found here. *bit.ly/4b6ZZmm* The description from ThinkTank says some 15" laptops but I can tell you that I have slipped my 16" MacBook Pro into the laptop sleeve. It is snug, but it will fit and zip closed. It is such a great bag
It’s nice and well lit, the only problem is that it looks fake on this one she is well lit but the back is a little too dark😊
Funny thing is this is how it looked with the naked eye. It was a pretty dark cloud deck.
Really great pics! And a sweet skill to have, popping the subject out of the background. And as they say, always look behind you when you’re holding a camera
So true! Thanks for watching!
Great stuff!
Wow. Wish I could have gotten out of my other commitment. Great month of workshops. Thank you Steve and Mark.
Our pleasure!
is this a flash and/or continuos light?
its a hybrid light. it is continuous but also can shot in a burst of light
I just found this channel and am enjoying the content. What is the name of the bracket that you use to get the flash head off to the side of the light stand?
Thanks for watching. It is the Shorty arm by Westcott. You can find it here www.fjwestcott.com/products/shorty-offset-extension-arm-8-inch. You can even use code chop1023 to save 10% on your order. Enjoy
This is the most underrated photography Channel on KZread. I cannot believe you don't have a million subscribers . Your channel is so educational and your work is phenomenal. I've been watching for the past couple years and I always get excited when you post a new video. Thank you for all that you do and I'm looking forward to your next video
Wow, thank you! We really appreciate the kind comment and thank you for watching!
Essentially you're advocating extreme feathering of the light for soft shadows? Are you using HSS also? Camera settings? Wide open aperatures?
Please tell me that will be the first and last time you guys use that song. 🤔😋
We love our custom music! 😆
Those nasty chemtrails in the sky really destroy outdoor shoots. Ugh!
thats false, it does matter! don't share those false informations, it destroyes analog film.
Is this place for rental photoshoots?
no, unfortunately it is not. thanks for watching!
Get Cohen back and revisit this interview.... lol
This looks like Blue Lake near the Utah-Nevada border. I use to bring my scuba diving students there for their advanced class.
Bucket list photography with a bucket list model 😮❤
Sorry I missed this shoot!
Thanks for sharing! 😀
hi can you tell me where is the rain protection in the bag i can't find it ?
It's attached to the bottom of the bag, there is a velcro pocket at the bottom.
Great job guys. thank you for all the great tips.
