I've had mine in for 2 years and except for leaf growth below the graft no other leaves have developed, Im thinking its time to dig it out and put it in a big pot and plant some other non citrus fruit in its place.

Helpful video. Unfortunately Quinclorac will not kill dallasgrass even a little bit. I know from personal experience using quinclorac to kill what I thought was crabgrass, only to learn later that much of my acreage was infested with loads of dallasgrass (as it is difficult to distinguish common crab grass from dallasgrass in the early spring stage of growth before it produces seed heads). I live in a zone 7 area where sandbur and dallasgrass is even more invasive than crabgrass - a challenge through the hot summer months on large bermuda lawns over an acre with temperatures reaching 95+ Fahrenheit is a challenge even when MSMA is applied. Still, MSMA is unquestionably the best way to go for the environment as it eradicates these difficult perennial weeds in just one season (as apposed to other weaker herbicides that require 3 to 4 seasons for successful eradication). At least that's been my experience.

Unfortunately, I have two Rising Sun Redbuds and a Carolina Sweetheart Redbud- all three began developing dead branches last year. This spring, all three trees looked fine, but about two weeks ago several large branches began snapping and then leaves on smaller branches began wilting severely. Really loved the beauty of the redbuds, especially the Carolina Sweetheart. Sadly, I'll remove all three redbuds and replace each tree, but don't know what trees would be safe to plant in their place? Any ideas, I'm in Maryland 7b. Thanks

I've been rather confused with monarchs since I was a child. I remember seeing monarch chrysalis/chrysili??? in West Virginia in the fall around Labor day. However it was common to see them mid summer up in PA. I'm always looking at milkweed to see if I can catch sight of a catapillar or chrysalis but I've never nailed down what time of year to expect them. I didn't realize there were multiple generations per year. I've tried starting milk weed several times with no luck. I think I end up leaving pods I pick in the car and they get too hot 😮‍💨. We used to have a huge patch of it along our road, but the city kept spraying it so all that comes up now is a forest of teasel....which is quite a bit uglier than the milkweed if you ask me. Government at its finest 🤔. I'm going to redouble my efforts to get some milkweed groing again. Sadly I haven't seen a monarch in many years. Wexused to have so many monarchs, tiger swallow tails, and other huge butterflies growning up in the 70s now all that seems to be around are chines cabbage moths. It's such a shame.

Thank you this was very helpful. I almost had a heartattack when I saw both my river birches in weird leaves. The leaves have a White-Splattered bumpy Corrugated look and I thought the worst. I'm not sure what is going on but the wasps are going crazy in the tree, is it because of the aphids?

These are not beneficial to me in any way shape or form. They are terrible. I’ve had to get antibiotics for my eyes and a cortisone shot as these creatures are biting my eye lids!!!! Once they get in your house it’s nearly impossible to get rid of them. They don’t live on the furniture or get in the bed. They do however fly straight into my eyes daily and it hurts so bad when they bite my eyelids. People need to stop saying they are beneficial bugs. I’d rather have lady bugs and dragon flies to eat the aphids. You can’t kill them with traditional pesticides. They don’t work on them. The only thing I read that will kill and repel them from your property is Maxxthor it’s super concentrated and it $90 a bottle. I’ve got some on order. And cannot wait to rid my home of these bugs forever!

A similar but simpler method I used this year which may not be as effective but still works is called the Kratky method (several videos on KZread). I used the same tote they are using. Drill the holes in the top and use net pots just like this method, but instead of all the fancy stuff inside, just fill up the water until it covers just the bottom 1/2 inch of the net pot with the roots in it. Dissolve 60g Masterblend, 60g calcium nitrate, and 30g epsom salt. Then just wait! After about 8 weeks with tomatoes the water will get down pretty low then you just mix up 5 gallons at a time of the nutrient solution (with 1/5 the amounts since it's a 25 gallon tote) as needed. I have a ton of tomatoes (actual tomatoes, not "tomatoes"). It works for water-loving plants like tomatoes, cucumber, most herbs and eggplant, but does not work well with peppers (they need to dry out between waterings).

I never thin out my peaches and most years they all just grow great, but a long late winter very wet here in the SoCal High Desert, and the time of pollination seems to have dwarfed this crop. The dormancy cycling with warm and freezing seems to disrupt their growth.

Our 2nd year of harvest, black rot came in and took 80% of the crop. Year 3, it took 90%. Year 4, it took 100%. This year, I saw black rot starting, and I figured we would lose them all again. Then I remembered that when our tomatoes had blossom end rot, a cup of Epsom Salt dissolved in a gallon of water stopped the rot cold. What could it hurt? I mixed and poured a gallon around each vine. The black rot on the grapes instantly stopped! No more new rot. I'm not sure if I should treat it again or if the one treatment is enough, but I'm absolutely thrilled. Now I wonder if this isn't more of a nutrient issue. The plant being weak and succumbing to disease it should be immune to?

Very good information. I grew up on a farm and we had “alkaline spots “ in some fields. We farmed right through them, but they did not produce anything. Very frustrating. Sometimes they looked wet and we could drive tractors over them, then the next time they would look dry and the tractor would get stuck. This was in the 50’s and 60’s. I am sure they are still there.

Hello , I’m in Virginia, I planted 2 fuyu persimmons about 6 years back in 8 foot distance. They both grew up of about 10ft tall. I did they flowered last year but no fruits. This year there were few flowers but didn’t fruit. I actually planted a grafted version of the persimmon trees. I bought it from a California based garden center. Both trees are very healthy . Can you please assist.
