Great ep mate, we are heading up to 14 mile in july it looks awsome!! What lures were you using hard or soft plastics for the emperor and gt cheers 👍

Thanks mate, really appreciate the support. I ended up hooking most of my land based fish on soft plastics and just unweighted squid baits. Jerk shade and squid plastics for the win on light jig heads

Went there for the first time last week before watching your video. And you're absolutely right, It was a challenge. I didn't even think to fish low tide, I waited until high tide. I will definitely give it a crack at low tide next time.

Nice vid. Tip for you. Don’t publish video of handling protected wildlife. The moment you pick up the blue tongue, in your hands - that fits the definition in the Wildlife act of “to take, to have in one’s possession”. And the Max fine for that is $10k. I get it that you’re doing “the right thing” by getting it off the road so it doesn’t get run over. But from a Wildlife Officers point of view you’ve just published to the public domain all the evidence needed to download and use against you in a prosecution, as a deterrent to others doing likewise. The Wildlife Officer doesn’t even have to leave the air conditioned comfort of his office to secure a conviction. So what you do is, yes, you film it to add interesting content to your channel & yes you move it off the road, using a spade to slide in under it - so your not handling it, and you film it to your hearts content. Heck if you simply MUST handle it, then either edit that bit out before you upload the video or just don’t film that specific few minutes. Speaking as a retired wildlife officer, I’d hate to see you lose $10k in a fine, that’s a lot of KZread revenues needed to replace a $10k hole in your bank balance.

To stop the skin shrivelling, cross hatch with small slices to create a “pineapple effect”. If you’re on land and in the kitchen you can also pour boiling water over the skin. It’ll remove any slime (not much of an issue with pink snapper) and preshrink it. Leave it skin side up to dry for a minute or two. Will still shrink though because that’s the nature of fish skin (diff species do diff amounts)

It ended up being a hospital job and my phone battery died before I got it out so no footage. After numbing it, they pulled the hook through and cut the barb end off. Took a bit of work but no damage to the tendons 🤙🍻
