Thats cool. I used to own a 1989 Volvo 760 GLE
Thanks for the trick with wireless charger, I have used phone charger and my key worked for a couple of times more, it was properly charged, but I know that the battery is just really bad condition. Time for replacement and proper charge with my charger!
Should a regular wirelss phone charger work? And how long should you try and charge it for?
Last video I watched neglected to mention the fact I'd need new bulb holders. Spent 15 minutes ripping bulbs out and now I have no lights in my car as I've broken the bulb holders 😂.
I'm getting mine this week. It's the 2.0 version but I'm so excited.
Coca Cola should contact you and do the advert.
Definitely!
If this hits the algorithm and gets popular everyone bring me back here.
Thanks for the video. What is the main reason for why it do get soaked - and how to avoid?
The motor is installed in the drainage channel where the water builds up and floods the casing. Best way to avoid it is to relocate the motor to the boot/trunk or keep the drainage tubes clear so the water flows away properly.
You make this look so easy! I had a real battle getting the top off the case - found it easier from inside the car reaching over the seat.
I had a battle with the top cover too but I edited out the bit where I’m trying to get it off! 😂
Hey mate changed the clutch plates with new ones new springs and gasket ebc clutch plates the old ones where worn the friction and three steel ones where blue but now the clutch won't Engage when I pull the clutch lever noting happens it like pulling fresh air and the plates don't move in or out
Hello, you can adjust the clutch cable where it goes into the clutch housing. There are forums where they explain how to do this. It takes up the slack in the cable then you can fine tune it at the handlebars.
Ddi you sold the Z4? Haven't seen any new videos from you.
Afraid so, I got away with a 2 seater with just 1 child but now I’ve got 2 I needed a family car. Won’t be getting another one until we have space on the driveway unfortunately!
@@db192 That's a shame, I was hoping to follow all your videos to fix up a Z4 that I'm planning to purchase in the near future. But Congratulations on the new family member! Wish you all the best!
Left indicator blows fuse with bulbs connected and disconnected right works fine ideas?
There may be a damaged wire or water in the fitting that is causing the fuse to blow. Have you tried replacing the indicator to see if that helps?
I just bought one from 2000 for cheap and pick it up in 2 weeks. It has new mot and service, so I hope it runs well, otherwise I have some ideas from your video😄
I’m sure it will run beautifully if it’s been well maintained, Volvos were built to last!
@@db192 Hope so - looking forward to it!🏎
How do you get tape of to get top part of housing out, could you just drill into it and break out?
Some peel it off or cut with a blade, you can access the back of it from the cabin. Sit on the seat and reach past the fabric panels and you’ll be able to get at the tape from the other side. Once you have most of it off then pry the housing open, don’t worry about damaging it as you won’t need it again. I would be careful with drilling as you don’t want to damage the motor inside!
The mounting of the bracket is shown on 4:38, but not the dismantling. This would be interesting, as it is not so easy. There is second nut on the lower side, which is not very accessible. Also, if the two upper nuts of the belt cover are removed and the cover slightly moved out, the placing of the cover is much easier. The belt cover actually covers the volve cover.
Very good advice. It’s difficult to make sure everything is on the video but hopefully your comment will help someone having the same trouble with dismantling the bracket.
The engine can’t start, can it be because of the battery dead?
It could be the immobiliser if the battery in the key is completely gone. Try replacing it and hopefully it will help.
On this engine the sump plug has to be changed every time! Very true and important information, missing from some manuals. Thank you for mentioning this.
Always a good ideas to replace the sump plug, it’s not expensive and will avoid an unwanted oil leak!
anyone have my issue, the hazards work and icators flash when hazards are on, but when I indicate the indicators do not flash :(
Most likely the indicator switch itself, try checking the wiring and fuses or replace the Switch if needed
@@db192 I had a look at the switch and it seems okay and I swapped the fuse with a spare one and still doesn't work the weird thing is sometimes the indicator will come on but like 30 seconds after I told it to and sometimes it never comes on
Just did this on my E39 key and... Nothing. 😂 Still dead. Exactly the same process as you but no luck. I've got a spare that also has a dead battery so I'll try replacing that too in case it's the fob at fault.
Hopefully the spare key works for you. At least you have done it once already so you will know what you’re doing second time around.
Smart car parks in thd worst place possible and the camera man tells her not to move 😂 what a team
She stopped because she was sliding. The hill is so steep and icy that she would have ended up crashing down the hill like the other cars.
This video helps to solve a very bad engineering concept. How can you seal a battery that 100% will need replacement ? 😮
It does mean you don’t have to replace a key battery for approx. 10 years but then they expect you to pay a lot of money to replace the whole key at the dealership!
My girl is doing this now after 19 years on the road. I noticed the parking sensors weren't working when the clutch was up which seemed strange. Drove in the dark today and realised the reverse lights weren't working with the clutch up either. Has to be the sensor. I'm pleased it's not expensive.
Definitely sounds like the sensor to me, I’m glad the video helped you and probably saved an unnecessary bill from the garage. I was only trying to fix the reverse light and getting the parking sensors working again was a bonus!
Good video.
Thank you, did you get your roof fixed?
Have those exact lights come on, but luckily seems to be an easy job
Hope you can get it sorted without too much fuss
Shut up silly,,,you shouldnt have been out in it either
😂
😂
Wanker 😂
Your voice is very relaxing
Thank you I’ve not been told that before
Wheel bolts should never have any kind of copper paste on them. It will mess with the torque on the bolts.
What a pain
Definitely a pain to replace but if it’s lasted the life of the car so far you won’t have to do it again for a few more years.
@@db192 mine been dead for 3 years been looking for this lol
Can this work on an X3 2008
Yes it works on all keys if they are this shape.
@@db192 thank you so much I will give it a try🙏🤞
You lucky, I've changed to second hand caliper ant had thr same problem still
That sucks, always a risk with used parts. Have you replaced with a new one now?
@db192 no not yet I'm thinking to replace the brake hose first
Great video except you say the oil it takes is 5/30 BUT the oil your putting in says 0/40?? What gives? Thanks
Good spot, I bought the oil online using my registration plate to suggest which one is best and this one was on the list. BMW definitely recommend 5/30 but sometimes a different oil weight is suggested given the age and wear of the engine.
Thanks! Fantastic video
Thanks!
Hi. Question. I have the same car in 2008 1.6 petrol. Just bought it recently. I noticed when I drive and press the clutch before shifting, the rpm goes slightly goes up before it drops down. Is it normal?
Are you taking your foot completely off the gas pedal before pressing the clutch? Does it happen when you are still or at speed?
hi. Yeah I take my foot off before I clutch. I read this on other forums for same makes and other makes too. I just wondered if anyone else experienced this.
Good job! Can you show how to put the panel clips back in??? How can you put them in? Thanks
Which panel? The part covering the motor or the boot tray?
The part covering the motor or the tray that goes under the roof when it’s folded?
@@db192 the tray that goes under the roof when it’s folded
This is by far the best video to tackle this issue. Thank you VERY much!
You’re very welcome glad it helped
I recently bought a 2007 z4 and the previous owner said the key doesn't work. To which I thought it was a simple battery replacement. I opened it just like you did but it's missing the small plate looking base where the battery sits, it only has the metallic arc on top with a single solder point. For comparison, at 1:28 there's a small plate where the battery was sitting. Looks like the previous owner had no idea how to get the battery out and removed everything. I'm trying to get a new battery but I'm worried it won't work because it's missing the 'base' where the battery sits. Any thoughts? Thanks!
From what I can tell you are missing a contact between the circuit board and battery so you may need to buy another. Did you get it sorted?
The motor cover just doesn't come out of the chamber. Any idea on how to remove it? I tried it for almost 2 hours.
Have you removed any tape? If not that’s the first thing and you can get a better angle to remove it if you sit in the car and reach down past the inner lining. If the tape is off you will need a long pry bar or something similar to lever under the edge of the top cover. Don’t worry about damaging it, you won’t need it again. Once you have the motor out, you will need to pull hard on the bottom cover to snap the cable tie holding it in. There is only one and it will break eventually, just be careful of the hydraulic lines that sit underneath the bottom cover.
It would be great if you mentioned the length of the bulbs you installed in each application, for example the vanity mirror bulbs.
I believe it’s 31mm but if you get a kit from eBay they will give you all the bulbs you need to convert to LED
Beautiful place, great video ❤
Thank you! It was such a great holiday, nice to have a video to remember it.
Legend. Thanks mate perfectly executed video.
Thank you, glad it helped’
Can you do a vid on how to re programme the key to the car ....cool vid
I wish I could but I sold the car when my second child was born. Not very practical car with family of four. There will be lots of helpful videos on KZread to show you the reprogramming sequence. Hope you got it sorted
@@db192 Yes there are , sorted thank you, hope all is well with you and your family .
Great video. Thank you! (absolutely ridiculous design by BMW)
Glad it helped!
Hi mate I have just fitted same led indicators to my bike , they works fine on hazard but when I use turn signal either left or right they flashing only half and very fast , any idea what it could be ? Thank you
Hi mate, you will need to purchase a relay or a resistor as you have changed to led indicators. Some bikes have plug and play. others you will have to splice some wires. Hope this helps.
I agree, either relay or resistor. Also do all 4 indicators work, double speed flashing sometimes indicates one of your indicators not working.
Excellent video thanks so much. Just replaced the sticking calliper on my sons Z4. Never done one before but now feel like experts thanks to your video. Cheers
Thank you I’m glad it helped you repair your Z4.
I have no blinkers and the dash is not showing the blinkers.
Most likely your relay or fuses need replacing
@@db192 alright. The fuse responsible for it was okah
@@ZinoAmare glad you got it sorted
@@db192 It was a wire problem ^^ it was fixed yaay
Pro tip you can press the brake pedal down and hold it in place before disconnecting lines, it will prevent any fluid leaking except for a few drops.
Thank you for the tip
