  Sora should've been redeemed in a way longer Xyz arc (that would've been the perfect place to develop most of the moral themes instead of Synchro) by maybe getting lost, saved by Xyz people that don't recognize him and empathizing with his victims And then carding himself

  I have a bias towards Wild Westerns (Loved Red Dead Redemption 2) so I really enjoy it, especially when Lawton whips out the Gatling Ogre and FTK's someone before they even get a turn.

  Shun vs Dennis was the peak of the synchro Arc. Sadly they murdered Shuns final turn in the dubbed version.

  Agree he didn't mention that arc v is based on ww2 and the synchro dimension is ment to be America and they didn't want to get involved in a European war, while the British the pendulum dimension was trying to get them involved. I have to disagree that it was perfect, sora was a mess in that arc and Selena and Shun felt like they were going to fight at some point maybe after Shun vs Dennis, because shun wouldn't completely trust a fusion duelist until he dueled them and especially not a known nazi from academia, also Selena thought killing duelist was a good thing, she only was upset about how unprofessional laughing at your victims was and how dishonourable killing unarmed people was, kinda like how a swordsman (in stories) sometimes give a unarmed citizen a spare sword so when they die, it's because they were just weak but war brings the ugly out of everyone so her beliefs probably would have changed if she was constantly in a life or death situation on the battlefield so she's naive. But I did enjoy the first half but after the synchro arc it became a trainwreck.

  It would have been better if the Lancers went to the manga version of Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds and at the start of the story and have make that story a little different.

  One of the worst arcs in Yu-Gi-Oh, ruined by pacing and production issues caused by working on DSOD simultaneously. Ironically it had one of the single best Synchro Summons ever, that of Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend (in Japanese, dub fucking ruined it). And most badass rescue entrance ever with Crow swopping in with a goddamn thunderclap and lighting bolt summoning his ace at the beginning of the arc. Also, I wonder if ARC V was meant to be longer, and each dimension story was intended to be like the Syncrho Dimension, building up legacy and new characters while making a recapture in Xyz, and full on invasion in Fusion. And the greatest flex in Yu-Gi-Oh. Reiji's infinite loop against Roget.

  Is it weird that i liked the Synchro Arc? No Aki or signers. But the Heartland arc enraged me and made hate the Gx era; it was a total shift.

  Gotta disagree with you. The best filler arc in all Yu-Gi-Oh series was Awaken the Dragons. This is a close second, though.

  True it could be the best fillier arc of yugioh 5ds but in the whole franchise the orichalcum arc with doma's soldiers like Raphaël Varon and Amelda the fall of atem the extension of universe some people says it's the best filler arc of all anime

  Crash town is literally like my top 5 arcs ever, among the hxh chimera ant arc, soul eaters attack on the moon arc, battle city, and the dark signer arc. I feel like crash town is the only reason I tell people to watch the last half of 5ds. It's amazing, gives an amazing conclusion to one of the best character arcs with Kiryu, and in general is just interesting and fun.

  Glad to see you back, Noa. Crash Town was such a treat to watch and a great close on Kalin as a character. Probably the best thing to come of the Dark Signers in the second half given how they dropped the ball on Jack and Carly.

  From what I've seen, KT was very much involved in S1/Dark Signers but stepped away after that. I can't remember where I saw that to provide proof, but might I point out that we already know he had a uniquely deep interest in mythology and legends (hence DM), and it doesn't seem like a coincidence that after he leaves not only does the mythology completely dries up but they retcon the secret organization (cough DOMA cough) for the sci-fi theme they suddenly decide to lean on? All the stuff you mention certainly doesn't help, but I'm taking a Latin American history course and there is a LOT of spot-on references to mythology there, down to the King of the Netherworld-Crimson Dragon dynamic actually paralleling Quetzalcoatl and his brother Tezcatlipoca in Mesoamerican mythology. I'm serious, Tezcatlipoca is associated with, among other things, "the invisible and darkness." Quetzalcoatl? "God of life, light and wisdom, lord of the day and the winds" (both sourced from Wikipedia which sourced it from a Spanish [I think] source). Find me one other show writer from any part of this franchise who has made that kind of obscure mythological connection a core dynamic of an entire season.
