Thanks for all the information.
Very helpful to me, thank you.
This only works on the left side of the radio in split screen mode. When you try to do the same on right side, you can't run bank link scan or can anyone shed a light how?
My post is 123 in Norwood, Ohio. I'M KE8YST. I would love to see a stronger network of Ham's in the Legion.
Thank-you.great work .New subscriber
Very helpful video, Martin, thank you! - Greg K8LAM
GR8 Job, Thanks for filming!
Painfull to watch due to shaking about all over the place. Shame😢.
Understand.
That's awesome! I'm disabled myself physically and struggle with agoraphobia and ham radio helps me stay connected with other people. A lot of those guys know I struggle with mental illness getting outside of my home So they come by and visit me. I am fairly comfortable in my backyard and a few hams have came over and set up like a Bota "Back Yards On the Air" lol kind of thing and I had a ton of fun. Another great thing is I feel connected to another family that if I need something they are willing to help. Thanks for spreading the word about ham radio and thanks for your service. KO4HPC 73.
Echolink is by far a great way to learn the 'Lingo' and check in on directed NETS if you will. Spent a few months messing with the software/app before I even purchased my first radio. While I'm still a technician several years removed from my exam. Haven't been very active with it in quite some time but I do want to get back in and dabble with field radio operations. Build a portable station powered solely by small solar panel. Great work guys! K4SCR
Great point, and a big welcome to the hobby. Martin KI4CFS
I live near Lake Wheeler off Penny rd. Seems like it might work there. Does it seem likely there could be a way to tag conversations so software could filter to group specialty chats instead of 1 general?
Ask them. I have the link in the text. I have not tried it yet. Martin KI4CFS
Incredible
very well said in laymans terms for noobies
Do you know how to do this same thing with the Icom 2730a ? thanks
5100 is a great radio.
What abiut range ?
Thanks for the info, I now have an understanding of ft8 and I’ll pass, js8 looks like a more worthy platform that allows one on one comms.
Such a loss. A good friend of mine for 4 decades. - KC4EOG
Sorry to hear about Danny RIP 73 all
I have always wanted to do that
Thank for sharing de n4mqu
Why? Im almost half way through this "tutorial" and I don't even know what this is supposed to be used for. So far I see your computer talking to someone elses computer over your ham radio. Twer I making all the decisions I would say that's third party traffic... Or is your computer licensed? You know, like a repeater? lol. Geeesh none of this has anything to do with anything I am interested in.
The video is for people who already know its value and to answer and are interested in using it. That is the joy of Amateur Radio there is something for everyone. This is just making connections over the airways and logging it. I personally prefer talking to people, but others like this, and that is fine too.
Then why can't operators use it to talk to other operators? You know kinda like email?@@KI4CFSHamRadioMartinBrossman

What's the big deal? It's frowned upon because someone years ago decided using 10-codes was verboten because it's perceived as "CB Lingo?" That's nothing more that someone's prejudice showing.
If you really love doing it do it. My goal here is education.
Mind your own business if someone uses it no big deal..
I honestly have no idea why people would want to talk to a bunch of strangers over a radio. I can fully understand using Ham Radio for emergency communications but other than that, I'll never use my General License in amateur radio.
Solid...
Best Echolink tutorial I have found so far. De M1CIZ

best explanation ever! thanks
Hey there. I'm just getting back into ham radio myself. I got my tech plus back when there were still tech and tech plus licenses, and now I'm studying for my general. I've never made a contact on 146.52... but I'm going to try to. My area seems like 2 meters is dead altogether... even calling on local repeaters doesn't usually get a response from anyone. It's sad, really... before my 20 year hiatus, 2 meters was always hoppin. But... I'll keep trying. My son is going to get his ham license and I suggested he tries to get his school friends interested. He's in middle school, and his school is STEM oriented. I figured the science technical, engineering, and mathematics aspects of ham radio would be right up their alley for a school club. Who knows? Maybe he can start a tend in the area of new young hams!
How much the tl922 kenwood???
I would have no idea. I just took the photos walking through. All the info I have in in the video. Wish you luck. Martin KI4CFS
Myself, I failed the extra class test twice, kept studying and passed it the third time!
I’m a fan of 10-04 (good buddy)
On most stations I see a list of users and additional information however on a few nothing shows up. How can I get their information to show up?
Just got my tech license. No contacts yet, still learning the radio. Anyway, what is logging software and which one do you use? Thanks.
Big welcome! I don't use paper but get on Echolink and talk! That is a great way to practice fast. KI4CFS
My favorite place too. Hi Joe!
As a new ham operator, I'm finding it hard to program the 2m or 70cm calling frequencies into my radios. I know repeater require a Sql Tone and Frequency Tone, but do 2m or 70cm requires an offset or should it be set to off? Using Chirp or RTS leaves me puzzled because the fields is confusing. Which also is confusing to program them in manually. Thanks in advance for answering my questions. 73's KD9YBH
I didn't learn anything from this damn video
Don't quit your day job
Great explanation.
