What a nice start 👏 👌 I gotta say, I do like that tornado, even though it's only 8' wide. 😊 Mystere 6.0 XL for me, thanks. It would be awesome if I was rich enough to get it to Vasaliki Bay for a couple weeks or more. Nice transition to the downwind 👍
Yes, it was very nice for us to end on the best race of the Regatta. Thanks for your support throughout.
Sheer joy.
Absolutely
I feel like I’ve learned so much on these ride along videos! Very fun to watch thanks.
Thanks for being there with us. I’m glad that you got a lot out of these videos.
great series of races , enjoyed watching them all. well done both
Thanks 👍
Interested in what you were/ weren't doing with the centreboards. In my Cat sailing days, downwind/ downwind reach we pulled the centreboard up to reduce the wetted area.
Nobody in the Fleet is touching their centreboards these days I think probably due to increased turbulence around the slot perhaps
Cool as Ice....
Smashed it
Mic Ben up!
You really don’t want to hear what that guy has to say!!
I know you didn’t get the result overall you wanted but you guys learned a ton and you’re ready to slay them next year! I enjoyed the heck out of following along!
Yes, for sure we both felt we improved a lot in all departments throughout the event. We will be so much more ready for the next one. Thanks for your support and comments throughout.
VERY smooth move at the start and a good effort again all the way through well done Great progress over the past couple of years! Keep going!
Thank Mark. I that we really made some steps forwards in this event, if we could go to another event immediately held in minimum 12 kn of wind I think we’d be looking good for a top five finish.
Thank you its been very interesting to see whole races through in a Tornado. It's certainly different from my racing in a RS100.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you need a boat license for one of these? Or are these basically nautical mopeds??
LOL, yes, nautical mopeds for sure no license required just very good Insurance
Thank you for your wonderful and educational reports during the Tornado Worlds!
Thank you for coming along with us, I’m glad that the videos were both entertaining and educational
Why you take a ferry home? You have a fast boat, not the fasted, but fast ⛵⛵⛵🍻🍻🍻🥂🥂🥂🤣🤣🤣
Oh yes that would’ve been a much more interesting journey home although having now sat on the ferry for almost a day there hasn’t been much wind
Congrats! Good job. We all owe you the thanks for all the race videos! Thank you.
Thanks Eric. This was a very good well organised event. I’m glad that the videos hit the spot. I look forward to seeing you soon in the south
Enjoying the racees - Its 30 years since i crewed on Tornados, sadly my knees would not survive it now……but still racing a Dragon most weeks.
Yeah, it’s great that you are still getting out there, it’s so good to be out on the racecourse, mixing it up with a fleet of these beauties
congratulations 👏 Nice race . you put it all together on that one. great start . which set the tone for the rest of the race. Be proud about that one boys... 👏👏👏👏👏
Yes, absolutely that was the race of our championships to remember very nice to be getting a respectable result to finish
fabulous, facinating, fun. Real sailing. "Back a bit - forward a bit" imavellous. You both have real close feel for the boat and situation awarness. Real sailors. I see why you are at the "Worlds". Regarding the weight issue I think you should think about shaving.😁😁
Yes, still a few kilos heavier than many of the teams but perhaps that extra weight helped on the upwind legs when we eventually got some wind
epic series
You’re not wrong
Cheers for putting up the videos Joe, been enjoying your footage! Glad you and Ben got some wind for the final race.
Yes, it was what we’d been waiting for the whole week. I’m glad we did get the opportunity to find out where we really belong in the Fleet.
I am the champion of Ukraine in the tornado catamaran class in 2001. I would like to find a suitable extreme video to show my mother what I have been doing for 15 years of my life. I trained in force 7 winds in the city of Sevastopol, this is the open sea, but in your video I see a wind force of two points, maximum three, what extreme and what strong wind are you talking about here now?
Greetings from Greece, the wind in this video was around 25 kn sailing in this location. The wind always seems lighter because the sea always stays flat for more wind check out the recent video of our Highwind shakedown before we went to the world championships. Thanks.
Where can we see the overall results? Thks
Heck of a start!!!
Oh yes, much better once the focus has been switched on
Great watching you guys. Very useful to see how you recover by sheeting out the kite if flying the hull too high. I also see you play the main when on the downwind, is the principle still the same as upwind ie sheet in on a gust and out on a lull? Or does it differ downwind? Many thanks.
Small amounts of main sheet being played on the downwind generally sheeting out in the LOLs and sheeting in in the gusts trying to keep the tails flying
Well done guys, enjoyed the fun and frustration of all the races. Try not to be too much “ bad boys” at the party tonight 🤣🍻
Glad you enjoyed it
Always a joy to watch. Thanks fellas.
Thanks. It was our pleasure
Much thanks for the excellent coverage and commentary in Ideal conditions and great weather. .
Glad you enjoyed it
Really enjoying these videos. And Today’s Des Lynham award must be split between. Good speed, good direction, good smell..!! And: Making thoughts come true with actions. Well sailed guys. Get in..!!
Thanks very much it’s nice to know that somebody out there is paying attention to these moments of clarity on the racecourse
Please do a review of the fulcrum ufo and intercepter
Yes, I would love to if you can organise delivery to vassiliki Lecas Greece. I will get onto it.
That was some good content right there.
👍
very respectable last race. Congrats well done!
Thanks, mark, good to finish on a high note
Yes good down wind speed!
Yeah, that was the one part that seemed to be pretty good throughout the Regatta. I did feel that if the main sheet wasn’t overheated, we were losing a bit of power.
Another good sail Joe. Much improvement over lasts years championships, boats buffed, crew is speedy and keen and helm is gaining! Excellent.
nice thanks:::
Most welcome
Very good Joe, This season you are on it much better! Great crew work too! Fast and attentive and efficient. Doing the wild thing in light airs is a benefit, tricky at times especially with the chop but can make a good difference and I would say worth a try up to about 7-8kts, your mast rotation can be tweeked a bit more frequently once you have gained some apparent wind speed keep a sharp eye on it. Over all great improvement. Smooth out your tacks if you can,... smooth and steady arcs to not loose boat speed. Your personal weight can move a little more frequently as well, on some tacks you had good position on Port a few times I notice you were just comfortable behind/beside the stay, a few more inches forward and you will find magic...The T is a FINELY balanced boat so mini adjustments make a BIG difference over the course. Good luck and give it the beans!
When I'm in the back I'm always very aware of just how overweight my crew is making the boat. Then when I'm in the front with a skinny bikini babe as crew I realize just how skilled I truly must be lol
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆you deserve for amazing videos 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you so much 😀
Missed the most beautiful one! Bad Boy 94
Blloody good stuff, boys! It was an epic saga, and you guys did great! Hope you enjoy the party.😎😎😎
Heyho, thank you very much for shareing your adventures, have a great party tonight and a save trip back home, thx for all, greetings from Northern germany
Thanks, you too!
Congrats and hurray for the BadBoys 94 Greetings from Bavaria
Great video ! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
thanx guys for taking us along... hane a safe trip home after the Psrty tonight...
Thanks Max!!!
Love this. In Western Australia where the Fremantle doctor does this every afternoon in summer, we call this f:.n HiHo! 16:25
Oh yeah! This is definitely what we signed up for!!
Your crews like mine shouts starboard for no reason, go around the back .drives me nuts.
Maybe a bit of that going on.....
These are cool but I can't tell if they are in first or last place. Not sure if that can be helped, but maybe some (or more..) commentary on the traffic and little goals along the way would help. I don't want you to be "that boat" with the guy narrating the whole thing though, while the other sailors are thinking "just shut up" lol
I know what you;'re saying - it would be very cool to have an aerial view of the whole fleet to see the positions. Maybe next time.
Bring the tornado worlds to the USA in the next couple years! Florida is pretty and always has at least some wind in the coastal areas!
I live in Clearwater and the wind tends to be on the lighter side in the summer and you get thunderstorms nearly every afternoon. It would be best to do it in fall or spring if it was here.
I don't know if the airline will take it!!!
Woo Hoo! Beer time 😃! Beer thirty? 🤔
Oh yeah!
Would like to see your boom camera mounts. Thanks. 😁👍
Coming soon!
Start #2! 😊 aaaand NO 😢 Seems to me that there should be races in Vasaliki Bay. Reliable winds making for some awesome action 😃 And spare parts for the home team 😉 Your channel needs a drone pilot. Joe Bennett on strava? Joyrider TV on strava? 🤔 At every turn, I'm screaming GO! Come on, boat, get on with it! Ah! ...not being critical, mind, just on the edge of my seat.
5:02 is hilarious. i'm feeling the juice!
🤩🤩
