GO CUBS GO!!
Who here remembers Jackie Robinson in 2024! Oh, I may be old, but I was such a strong young boy. Me and pep bred horses and I would have to hold their heads steady - big, strong heads! Oh they were strong and so beautiful! Many cheers, thanks and happy days from Nebraska!
I cherish baseball memories, too. I remember the first time my father took me to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs play!
By the way, I was born in Nebraska!
I remember when this song first came out, Oh I was just a kid! Me and my pep went to see the horses play, and this played on the large gramophone! Wonderful rendition, warms my heart, wish they still made great American songs like this 🎉❤ so pretty and reminds me of the good days - you know, before real horse breeding became illegal. Those horses were so strong and handsome, great brooding creatures. Many cheers and thanks!
Thanks! Wonderful memories!
Hahahahahaha
When you're laughing, the sun comes shining through!
An 80 year old Dutch born Kiwi now living in Denmark (married to a Dane) has just heard the Italian version of "Funiculi Funicula" on Danish classical programme. It triggered me to go back to my NZ primary school days when our song lessons were through the well-functioning Broadcast to Schools programmes. That's when I learned the English version "Funiculi Funicula" ! And it stayed withme ever since!
Precious memories! Thanks for sharing.
Nice singing
Thanks!

I’ve listened to this 3 times in a row. I love it so much. Your great singing, the wholesome vibes, and just overall the good song make this a definite candidate for my top favorite videos of the year
Its a great tune.
What You’re Singing Are Not The Lyrics To “Funiculì Funiculà” English Songs To The Tune Of “Funiculì Funiculà” Edward Oxenford - Merry Life (You Are Using That Rhyme) Mario Lanza - “Chorus With A Happy Heart” (Funiculì Funiculà) --------------- Ben Gunn - Viva Scotland
Yes, the Edward Oxenford lyrics often appear under the title "A Merry Life." Mario Lanza sang the original Neapolitan lyrics.

I heard the three tenors sing this song on their 1994 album in Los Angeles. I was curious what the song was last night. What beautiful lyrics. Joy is everywhere…
Omg...this takes me back. My class was taught this song in Primary school, for school assembly, way back in the early 70's, in Australia.. Fantastic....thanks for posting❤👍🇭🇲
Reminds me so much of high school. Thank you for taking me down memory lane
Thank you I haven’t been to a game in a while so I forgot how it went!!!😅
Refreshing!!! Memories of my "mama" who raised me comes flooding back as I listen to this wholesome song.

@@RebeccaSmyth-uq4yt So sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of singing for my grandma.
My cousin Dougan loves this song , it has helped him an awful lot with his speech.
Rodney Dangerfield also does a super fun version in Easy Money.
Ha. I just watched that movie the other day
so perfectly sung; i could understand him without even reading the lyrics. great voice, too❣️
Nice song for washing hands.😉
Thanks!
thank you
I just saw Il Volo perform this song in Neapolitan at their concert. I remember learning this song (in English) in 6th grade music class. So I scoured the Internet to find the English version. To my surprise, there are many English versions of this song. This version is the closest to the one I learned in 6th grade. The only line that was different was when you sang, “Listen Listen”... I learned it was “Harken, harken...”
I decided to use "Listen" instead of "Harken" just because we don't use that word too often these days.
@@songssmiles - Thank you for the reply and for bringing back fond memories. You sounded great!
Me too! I was in a bilingual school on primary, and I learned it there! this version is amazing!!
let’s go Astros!!!
I love that song
This has always been a favorite for our family.
go Astros
Love the layout! BEAUTIFUL
Thanks!
All my life wanting to know the meaning of such beautiful song. In the 80s they used it for an Alka- Seltzer commercial in Mexican tv.o
This is not the correct English translation from the original Neapolitan. Not even close.
@@jmorgan5275 No, but they are the English language lyrics
Very true. This is not a translation, just an English version … but I think the words fit beautifully with the music. The melody, to me, expresses a joyous song coming from a happy heart!
@@songssmiles Wait, funiculi and funicula are English words? I have never heard of them outside the title of the song itself. Can you tell me what they mean please? Im curious
@@FewVidsJustComments Funiculi and Funicula are Italian words, the only Italian words included in this English-language version. The original Italian lyrics were written to celebrate the opening of the first funicular railway on Mount Vesuvius. It's a type of cable railway system that connects points along a railway track laid on a steep slope. So, funiculí means "funicular up" and funiculá means "funicular down," but in the English-language version they just become fun words to sing!
Go rockies!
Take me out to the ball game. Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack. I don’t care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the Rangers. If they don’t win it’s a shame. For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out. At the old ball game!⚾️🎼🎵🎶
When my mom was alive and I was a little girl, my mom would hold my hand and we would skip up and down the street while she sang this song to me in English. Thank you for posting this.
You're very welcome. What a beautiful memory!
@@songssmiles Thanks! You sang it wonderfully 😊
My late Mum always sang this song when I was little... MHSRIP. Thanks for singing this beautiful melody it brings back memories ⚘
She must have really loved Funiculars.
@@tu4764 I have no idea what a Funicular is. I don't think she did either, lol. All I remember is she sang it to me under the EL Train in Woodhaven, Queens, N.Y.C on Jamaica Avenue.
Wow. Such talent. Hats off to you pall
Thank you!
