Eine sehr schöne Interpretation. Für mich galt Bach durch den Unterricht auch eher als der Komponist eines maßgeblichen Verbots, des Pedals. Letztlich ist ihr persönlicher Zugang befreiend. Richtige Tempi gibt es in der Musik, m.E. ohnehin auch nicht, wie es kein richtiges Atmen, keine richtige Organik, gibt.

Da möchte ich hinzufügen, dass es zum "richtigen" Tempo in der Musik zwei interessante Ansichten von Furtwängler und Celibidache gibt. Und zur Atmung möchte ich als Sänger, Schauspieler und Meditierender sagen: Es gibt nicht DIE richtige Atmung, wohl aber eine falsche Atmung. Sonst gäbe es ja auch keine Atemtherapie.

Dass der "Bach-freie" Abschnitt Ihres Lebens nun ein Ende gefunden hat, möchte ich als großer Bach-Liebhaber schon nach dem ersten flüchtigen Reinhören in diese tollen Aufnahmen sehr begrüßen.!!! Besonders faszinierend sind Ihre Tempi. Bach hat ja bekanntlich keinerlei Vorgaben dazu gemacht. Nach meiner Meinung spielen Sie jedes einzelne Stück genau im richtigen Tempo. Großartig!

Vielen Dank für Ihren Kommentar. Mein ganzes Leben hatte ich diese unvergleichlichen Werke leider nur als Pflichtstücke bei Prüfungen während des Studiums und bei Wettbewerben wahrgenommen. Sie hatten zu sehr die Aura der „Schule“. Das hat sich jetzt bei der bewussten Unvoreingenommenheit, mit der ich mich nun dem WK nähere, grundsätzlich geändert. Die Interpretationen sind so unterschiedlich wie bei keinem anderen Komponisten. Jeder muss seinen eigenen Weg suchen. Es stimmt: Bach hat so gut wie keine Vortragszeichen festgelegt. Die daraus resultierende Freiheit der Interpretation ist jedoch gerade faszinierend.

Schumann: „Weniger für den Redakteur der Iris, als für den Dichter und den Geistesverwandten Jean Pauls, erlaub’ ich mir den Papillons einige Worte über ihr Entstehen hinzuzufügen, da der Faden, der sie aneinander schlingen soll, kaum sichtbar ist. Eu. Wohlgeboren erinnern sich der letzten Scene in den Flegeljahren-Larventanz-Walt-Vult-Masken-Wina-Vults Tanzen-das Umtauschen der Masken-Geständnisse-Zorn-Enthüllung-Forteilen-Schlußtraum und dann der fortgehende Bruder. Noch oft wendete ich die letzte Seite um: denn der Schluß schien mir nur ein neuer Anfang - fast unbewußt war ich am Klavier und so entstand ein Papillon nach dem Andern."

Extremely captivating for the first 7 minutes. Sorabji's ear is amazingly acute. His ability to swerve and skim a harmony into unfathomed directions is Debussy like. But sadly, Sorabji always fails in the long term due to his lack of self-discipline. He can't beat de Falla and Albeniz at their own game, sadly, so he resorts to faux-irony and teasing parody. Poor, dear, unfortunate , fatedly less-than-Premiere-league Sorabji!

This early piece already surpasses de Falla and Albeniz, and his later work Fantasia Ispanica flushes them down the toilet. You know nothing about this music. Blocked.

@@franksmith541 Your point of view is as subjective as mine; and the whole idea is that we are all entitled to our courteously argued arguments, provided we do not resort to ad hominem remarks. Sorabji fans are always very zealous, but he remains a minority interest. As with any composer, he has to convince straight away if he is really good. I was not convinced. This doesn't mean that occasionally I do not give him a try. We can also sometimes change our minds. I still wonder about him. It is your stupid, insulting tone I find objectionable. And this babyish Football League approach to composers.
