My name is David from Liverpool, UK. Im an Idiot with a garage who loves fixing cars!
If you're a petrol head like me and love seeing cars getting fixed, as well as being modified, stay tuned because this is the channel for you!
I'm by no means a professional, I'm not a mechanic, and I'm not trained in car repair, but I am someone who will give anything a go and be honest about it. I'm just winging it, but they do say "Fake It Till You Make It"😉. I'm not scared of a challenge and there will be some big projects on the channel soon enough!
I hope people find as much joy in my content as I do filming it (even when things go wrong😅), and maybe it helps to inspire others to crack open the socket set and give things a go yourself!
I ride motorbikes too😁
I'm also active on Instagram so feel free to give me a follow👍🏻

Hi, did your bank 1 running lean ever come back or did this fix the problem, and you changed the purge valve, did you change the pcv valve to?
More TT content pls 😄
I have fitted a after market radio in my Audi tt and the speakers don’t work the radio powers on all done do you have any guesses on how to fix
I just bought a mk2 tt off my brother in really good condition for £750
Hi bro i have Audi A4 with bose system i have the same issue Stereo is turning On but no audio.. im new to all this stuff.. please can you explain me that the blue wire (amplifer wire) you connected to which wire.. I have the amplifier wire but unable to figure out to which wire should i join... Because in my harness there is only one wire vacant that is the white wire and on it its written key 2. Other wise all the wires are connected to each other. Please please help me
It would be nice for a list of the stuff your putting in! Or links or something. For us the diy'ers! Like those NGK spark plugs what model are they?
Don't use "the channel"! Use "Me"...
Like the the little "Where is Wally!" you put in and didn't even make a mention on it... it's the little things!
Keep up the good work!
The fact that you leave in the "I fkd up" parts just make the videos that much more complete and comprehensive on what not to do!
0I bought the Roinvou version from Amazon. I had to turn the amp on in the factory settings for the blue wire to get power. What I've noticed in my 2008 Audi TT MK2 is I lost loudness in my rear speakers. After investigating there pre-amp RCAs only have fronts hooked up to deck and it it's spliced to the rears to. So there's actually no rear or subwoofer Set of RCAs so u cant use the fader. Also the rear speakers are so low i can't hear them. The factor deck was loud. 🧐 Another complaint the music stops playing when I reverse. Even if I uncheck it in factory settings.
Great video! Would you think it is possible to access the interior surface of the glass? I tried to polish my mk2, but it is still slightly foggy, and I think it is because of the interior.
I had one these had to replace engine u mist the biggest problem of all OIL PUMP
Blows ur engine up need a updated oil strainer pic up pipe
I didn’t know that was an issue😅 everyday’s a school day i suppose. What happens, do they seize or something?
@@day_dobbie yes mate the oil pick up pipe, there’s a revision one with 2 places for the oil to go through on new one,old one blocks up no oil go to engine then it’s engine replacement job, cost me £2k to get done,I Neva new until it happend look it up mate, awesome gti I got my new upgraded oil strainer, didn’t cost much but I assure you need it done 👍
Also pcv valve are dodge on these also there’s a revision part for that 2 👍
top man
hey, great video! its possible to add a reverse camera to that screen? thanks
Thanks! You can add a camera based on what the instructions were saying, but mine didn't come with one so maybe that's an optional extra?
Great commentary, you did well....Remember mate, practice makes perfect as you'll already know, every one has to start somewhere. Just Subbed, keep up the good work, i's worth it. My friend has a channel and it has been so rewarding for him.....
I really appreciate that. Thank you for the sub, the support and your kind words👍🏻
I know i dont have a audi tt but this video will help alot of people keep up the good work 👍
Thank you very much👍🏻
Good video pal. Given there is a fair bit of controversy around jacking points and axle stand placement points particularly on the MK2 could you either do a quick video or show specifically just where you are lifting her from and where you are bracing her with the stands. Thanks
Thanks! I'll include it in one of my next videos👍🏻 But it'll be just to show where I do it, not necessarily the "correct" way. I always look for a spot where it is already supporting the weight of the car (subframe mounts, control arm mounting points etc).
Changed my cam follower today pal, your video was a massive help so a big thanks. Keep the videos coming
Glad I could help!👍🏻
Replacing the cam follower is easy. I did mine so anyone can do it.
Nice.
Not bad for a Scouser..
Thanks for this video. Im wondering if one can simply just dump those front plastic windscreen drain holes “cover” , seems like its just very easy to get blocked up again?
No Problem! I did consider this myself but I'm not 100% sure, so I just left them in.
Usual great video from you yet again David. I’ve done the follower and the purge valve thanks to your previous ones. Hardest thing was trying to get the plugs seperated and those damn clips which I broke two of. Cheers again, Grant
Thanks! Yeah, those clips are a proper pain!
Sorry I'm not subscribe your channel
Good video pal. Do the spark plugs not need any adjustment or setting? Secondly are you intending on doing the CAM follower any time soon? Thanks
Thanks! I’ve done a video on the cam follower already, have a look through the channel and you’ll find it👍🏻
@@day_dobbie Gentleman will do, thanks pal
👊👊
I remember most GTOs on ebay and auto trader Facebook bc iv always wanted one iv had loads of projects and wait for the day I can do what you have done well done mate
Thank you very much!👍🏻
Your editing keeps getting better 👍
Thanks!👍🏻
This video series is a god send for me, amazing to see someone doing (or giving a good go) all the jobs I was wondering if I could do. If I decide to go through with an engine rebuild on my mk.1, I'll be spending many hours watching these back! Best of luck with the rebuild man.
Im really glad I could help! Anything is possible with a bit of knowledge, the right tools and the confidence to give it a go!👌🏻 Thank you👍🏻
Love the yellow valve covers, looking good. Ready to see it in the car
Thanks! Not long now😁🤞🏻
Yeah got a TT o7 plate water 💧 building up bye 👋 the battery 🔋 in the boot 👢 good video know what tell garage it reaked all me amplifier and ext in the boot 👢 she the fully loaded TT boss radio 📻 TV ext all ??? F water 💧 😑
Yeah, water leaks can be a real pain on these cars🙃
Hi there, when I pressed the release valve on the high pressure pump there was no pressure and no fuel sprayed out. Is this an issue? I’d just had a run in the car prior to installing the new cam follower.
Sorry but I couldn't say exactly. If the car runs fine then I wouldn't worry too much👍🏻
Cheers for reply David. Yes it runs fine mate. I’ll do the coils and plugs next.
Nice video. Have you got a parts list and where you got them from for people who want to do theirs?
Thanks, I just put my reg into AutoDoc and get my parts off there👍🏻
@@day_dobbie Cheers David.
hey, do you have the bose audio system in your TT ? I heard that you can have some issues with that if you replace the oem radio
No, I have the standard stereo system. I’d assume maybe the way the Bose amp and head unit communicate could be what causes issues maybe? Could be worth trying to see if there are any Bose specific replacements👍🏻
Subbed because I was looking for MK2 TT repair videos. Keep up the great work. Getting ready to replace the radiator.
Thanks! Good luck with the rad replacement👍🏻
Don’t care
My good man! If what you are saying does not make "any cents", the person should not do any type of automotive maintenance! Good video.
The number and positioning of the arrows really help. Than you.
Thanks! Glad I could help
You DONT need to take the glovebox out to do the cabin filter!!!! Just go into the footwell with a torch, and its back behind where the bottom bolts are. You can see it from there, slide cover off and replace. There is no need at all to take out the glovebox.
Right you are👍🏻 You don't NEED to remove the glove box, but i'm a large fellow and removing it made things easier, rather than squeezing into the footwell. It also made it easy to record and show what to do.
@@day_dobbie Fair enough. Once you know where it is now though, you can do it by feel. Its easy to find the cover plate and slide it off and the filter only goes back one way. I have had some success taking mine out and washing it etc. Then replaced it eventually...I just wanted to see if it was possible to get it clean and it is.
Legend ! Really helpful, might finally be able to fix that damp footwell, thanks mate !
Thanks! Hopefully it helps!
Bc racing coilovers with spring cover protection bags (stops coils seizing from road grime salt and all the good shit on the roads of the uk splashing up on our new 3 way adjustment coilovers of goodness.
Give the dsg a service, get that sump off the engine and change that oil pick up pipe, change the cam lobe. And one think that made me smile when you said about doing the cam belt yeah it could look alright, previous owners saying nah it’s not due yet. Noooooo until I see a stamp genuinely from a reputable garage listing what was changed along with price invoices. I’ve gone as far to even call garages and ask if they can have a quick look to see what work was don’t or not done just so I can work out what’s legit no worrry and what’s lies I’m going to have to re fix, renew, upgrade or tidy to a better standard. Don’t care if your my best friend and you says it’s been serviced. Until I see paperwork/ parts invoices (which in hind sight if I didn’t see them Before they ask their price) my price will have already been altered in knowing this fact. No invoice, no service stamp, no labour invoices. Service sheets, then no trust. I buy knowing it’s getting full love and a big bit of cash and parts refreshed.
Brilliant stuff David. Can you slow down though my wallet and my wife aren’t happy with all these upgrades!
Thanks! I must admit, my wallet is feeling the squeeze now too😅
Thx Mate, really nice. Are the drains the same as the mk1?
I'll be honest, Im not too sure.
Hi mate, you selling the original wheels?
I will be yeah, I just haven't listed them yet. Shoot me a message on instagram if you're interested (in my bio)👍🏻
The yellow brakes and motor compliment the car well!
Thanks!
Jesus Christ thank you, I had exactly the same issue as you but never figured out where it came from, I am definitely checking this out when I will be available… Thank you 👍👍
Glad I could help! Let me know how you get on with it!👍🏻
Did you solve your wet carpets? My passenger footwell on my 08 Roadster is driving me nuts....
I did. I think it was a mix of blocked drains, but also a breached windscreen. My windscreen had come away slightly and was letting loads of water into the car!
Very useful as I'm doing my TT and this diga tool is useful for turning off the bulb out light as I've used leds on the car. Thanks
Im glad it was useful!
The idle lean code probably comes from a vakuum leak, had the same code on my mk2, really recommend you to smoke test vakuum lines and intake
Thanks for the help, that'll be my next port of call I think!
Damn I missed out on a discount! 😅 I've already got a Carly device after watching @mattarmstrong channel when he was doing his TT mods. Nice to see your take on it 👍🏻
Thanks!👍🏻
