nicely done, I met you guys at the last dealer meet. I work in F1 composites, and it's nice to see structural stuff being incorporated into the laminate rather than bonded on top. The video was very well done to not over complicate and hard to follow. Great pace and explanations whilst having lots of interesting and detailed information. Our impression 384 is up for sale/ potential sold. We chose it for the fact the grid was laminated in at factory and she has seen us through a lot and a joy to sail. We will definitely have another Elan in the future as we have loved living on our 384 for our two year sabbatical off work. I have also done 450nm none stop on a gt6 i loved it. One small improvement put another sink next to the cooker and move the lifting microwave to the other side of the boat. Cooking under way having to cross a wide boat to drain pasta was interesting. The boat has great sea manners but still, a sink next to the cooker is a must! 👍 Thanks for sharing 👌🤘🤘⛵⛵👍👍🍻

Oh good grief. So you do it the same way that all production sailboats are built. Everyone bags and "infusses" their hulls. Nothing new here. If you want to survive, you MUST get out of old style sailboats and start building Catamarans. There is no future in mono hull boats - simply put, no one wants them. Figure out how to build Catamarans for the same price as your old mono hull boat. That will work. Otherwise shut the doors and move on to some other thing to do.

I heard in norway that elan is only composite boats that they do infusion at same time hull and stringer or for keel ..which is impressive.. other " super" companies cant even infuse standard hull.

Yes, that is 3D VAIL, and they are the only manufacturer of, relatively, mass produced sailboats. They have always been regarded as quality built and technologically advanced yachts. The prices of used boats reflect that quite well, even the ancient Elan 31 and 33 still hold pretty good prices. If you're selling, of course...

@@drankenkorps The process used a rigid inner tool for the keel frame structure within the vacuum bag. It worked well as long as it was all loaded up correctly if it wasn’t you would get large pools of resin filling any areas that bridged -not ideal

I love Sebastian's ethos to head down the fashion, lifestyle beauty route, and not just beautiful models but beautiful places and objects. And yeah you couldn't have picked a more beautiful (but still obtainable) boat as opposed to picking the usual private super yachts. It simply helps sell the dream....I'm sold ❤

Dream job, as a child I designed and built so many model yachts and powerboats and worked hard to make it a full sized career but alas life had other plans for me. What a lovely video guys. It's great to see the depth of knowledge and experience behind your designs and having been on the cutting edge of race boat design shows that you know what details to dial back for increased comfort, safety and reliability. Having the E6 for the 2023 Jabuka Regatta has been a true delight. With winds up to 30-40 kts (TWS) coming more or less from NW, heading for the Jabuka island we have reached a steady top speed of 12,5 kts (SOG) and a maximum speed of 13 kts (SOG) surfing down a 6m wave. No reffing. And this was a charter boat, imagine what could be done with a little bit of fine tuning!

Why do you use SOG instead of BS? If you are doing some real upwind tests, it would have been much more valuable to get upwind TWA and TWS vs BS. This is just a video of the boat healing over hard. I would have expected more from ELAN and the Olympic sailors.

It's the one we were measuring. In the Piran/Portorož bay, where the tests were done, there are no tides or currents that make a notable impact on the boat speed. When considering SOW/BS vs SOG we have found SOG is also more reliable, as the data comes from GPS and not the underwater sensor. In theory, SOW would be even faster, considering we went upwind if it had any effect at all.

I bought an elan 45.1 sailing boat in April 2023, the weight of delivery and customs consultancy in Slovenia, the delay, the service to correct the deficiencies, including misinformation, and then the spare parts cargo system was a complete disgrace... .. I do not recommend, stay away... Nisan 2023'te elan 45.1 yelkenli tekne aldım, Slovenya'da teslimat ve gümrük müşavirliği ağırlığı, gecikmesi, yanlış bilgilendirme dahil eksikliklerin giderilmesi için servis ve ardından yedek parça kargo sistemi tam bir rezalet... .. Tavsiye etmiyorum uzak durun...

Great video. The exterior and interior of the Impression 43 are just amazing. Tastful, minimalist and yet enough room to feel like a comfortable and liveable space. There´s a certain elegance to it for sure.

Hi Tom, The lighthouse is ‘Het Paard van Marken’ at the Markermeer. Paard means horse, because of the shape of the lighthouse.
