  I was there. The Porilaiset wouldn't come down from the trees and Brown was not pleased. He postponed his gig. It was the Porilaiset tree climbers versus Browns insistence to get his way, not understanding the Finns climb trees and that's that. I don't remember who won, but he came out eventually.

  Was the album recorded during this session? Sure sounds like all the same licks and solos. Don’t care for the art school video treatment, but hey, don’t get to see this hot band every day. RIP DS, a local guy, saw him a few years ago here in STL in a small jazz club. A giant on the alto. My wife and I played the shit out of this CD and it was mandatory road trip music even with the kids in tow.

  This was my introduction to the late great David Sanborn as a solo artist 38 years ago when I was only 20 years of age. I was the assistant manager add a video store in Sherman oaks California and we would always play this video tape every Friday and Saturday night to get us in our BEST possible weekend working mood! Rest In Peace Mr. Sanborn I can't thank you enough for all of the joy that your music has given my mind body and soul for almost four decades.

  RIP David Sanborn. Un son unique et très très très travaillé. Il a inspiré tant de jeune et de moins jeunes saxophonistes qui voulaient avoir son son en étudiant le sax. Pour le reste les gammes etc cac plaît ou ça plaît pas. Mais le son c’était son rayon…le choix des hanches ,leur entretien etc,,,les suraiguës aussi …un grand merci !

  One of my older brothers bought his " taking off " album back in the 70's and I was hooked listening to it. I was only thirteen. Started a love affair with sax. Still remember buying Gato Barbieri's Caliente album and Ronnie laws " every generation" my three favourites
