    I have a Todd's Costumes shirt, but an old version of it. It's sort of between beige and light tan in color. I find it kind of papery (the fabric audibly makes noise as you move around, and it wrinkles and creases easily) and it never really did fit me well since he stuck to the proportions of Harrison Ford's original Raiders shirt and just scaled up or down for the different sizes. Anyway, it's an old version which has since been replaced so idk what he's selling now and how it looks and "performs" (Mine got torn at the cuff one night when I slept in it with the wrists buttoned up, even though the sleeves are too short. My fault, really). Still, I don't hate the shirt. I also have a WPG, which is great, I just hate the bad grammar of that website name/film title 😅. And I have always been tempted to buy from Magnoli Clothiers. I was a member of that guy's "Indy Magnoli Replicas" Yahoo! Group, back when that was a thing, so I've always wanted to buy from him. I'm just intimidated by the tailoring (don't wanna mess up my measurements) and the bespoke prices!!! 😳😬 One day, though... And I'd never even HEARD of the Azumas! Might have to check those out... Anyway, cool vid! I learn more about our boy Indy every day, thanks to fans like you who make these videos 😊 Keep it up! 👍🏼

    I’d like to point out there is a reason jones carries a bull whip and a revolver. Pistol for avoidance of risk and one for when conservation of ammunition is needed and I firmly disagree if someone came at me with a bull whip I don’t think I’d wanna deal with that type of shit lol

  • @MickeyLeeBukowski

    I really ended up hating this movie after seeing it last year. Especially after rewatching the original four afterwards. And the reason why I say original four is because Skull was made by Lucas and Spielberg. I just didn’t like how Dial undid the ending of Skull in every aspect. Tho I rewatched Dial again recently. And while I still don’t like it, I definitely don’t hate it anymore. I think it’s serviceable on its own, but it’s definitely the weakest out of all five films. It lacks a certain energy that the other four had. Say what you want about Skull, but Skull had great pacing, didn’t feel like a long movie, and had an energy to it. Tho I do agree that both Skull and Dial are nowhere near the original three.

    Also yes you’re absolutely right about the middle of this movie being a drag. From Morocco to the deep sea dive. That was the section that definitely killed this movie for me

  • @MickeyLeeBukowski
    @MickeyLeeBukowski16 күн бұрын

    @@alexholden2512 yeah and these were my initial impressions right after watching it. I have seen it twice since and I just feel it has diminishing returns. Still not sure how I compare it to Skull, just because I dislike the tone of Skull so much and the 2nd half of that movie is pretty bad.

    One thing I'd like to mention, re: your comments on how the ToD hat went through a lot during filming - there would have been several hats made for both Ford and for use in Stunts. It wouldn't have been the same hat throughout and Ford and his stunt doubles wouldn't have shared a hat. This is one of the major reasons why the hats look different throughout the films.

  • @MickeyLeeBukowski
    @MickeyLeeBukowski23 күн бұрын

    Yes there were about a dozen hats made. But they all went through hell due to the sheer amount of stunts in this film. But all the Sri Lanka stuff was done first and that's why the hats look the best there. The hats where Ford is wearing them in the mine scenes were filmed way toward the end.

    Great video! It is too bad that the use of the whip kind of fades throughout the movies. If only someone like Anthony De Longis had worked on the original films, Indy could have been quite the whip cracking machine haha! That Trinity whip is absolutely beautiful!! Really love the color. As for which way to align the natural curl of the whip, my understanding is that holding it with the curl facing forward (away from your hand and body) creates a louder crack, but takes a lot of arm and shoulder movement. Aligning the opposite way so it rolls out creates a more precise and effortless crack, but it is not quite as loud. So I guess it comes down to what you want to do with the whip haha! Thanks for the awesome content!

  • @MickeyLeeBukowski
    @MickeyLeeBukowskiАй бұрын

    Thanks for the comment! I think the whip conceptually works better in a more fantastical setting (like for instance, "Zorro", which is where Lucas got the idea for it). In the more grounded world of Indy, there's only so much you can do with it before it gets a little campy. But cracking them sure is fun! And thanks for the insight on the two methods of cracking -- my experience definitely lined up with what you said!

    I've owned a number of Indiana Jones hats over the years and worked on dozens more. It never fails to amaze me how a little genuine weathering will shrink up the crown on different types of felt. I wore a Todd's in Central America for about 3 months and by the time I got back I had to turn it into a low crown Derby style because no amount of steaming and stretching could bring back the height. Beaver hats hold up the best of course but it's interesting to see that even yours tapered. Probably explains why they needed a new batch for every movie.
