    Its better to use a round bar or tube through the eyes of the yokes to get them aligned. The surfaces of the yokes are not that accurate. Other than that, this is how ive shortend dozens of prop shafts and drive shafts. Never had to balance one.

  • @ifixmycarmyself2502
    @ifixmycarmyself25027 ай бұрын

    Haha, don’t worry, these particular bearings are ball bearing and the bearing retainer slides over the bearing and a locking ring fits in a groove on the outer bearing ring and will keep the bearing and retainer in place. But if it was a conical bearing I would for sure share your concern :)

    Det andra lagret på en heavy-duty låda är 308 och på en standard låda 307, dvs 90mm i ytterdiametet eller 80mm på standard lådan. Båda har 35mm axel. Kvastskaftet är 24mm i diameter och 220mm långt.

    Hey if your axle shaft seal was leaking, its usually caused by the seal retaining plate being bent on the seals surface. Heat up the plate with torch lightly and set retaining plate on table after removing bearing and lock collar ring and lightly tap the rim surface of plate with a small flat sludge until its flate all the way around rim. Change bearings and seals and locking collars and you wont have another Axle leak! But if your plate is slightly bent and you reuse plate without straightening the rim, you can get leaks just 2-4 months after replacing bearings.

    Great video. I grew up doing this when rebuilding axels. You can get the pipe longer than your axel then thread an end cap on it. Helps when hammering away on it so the end doesn’t flair out.

    PS, The Broughams have there own cylinder block, but even if rusty can be rebuilt. Originally designed to have Fuel injection,it couldn't be made to be reliable so the tried and true tri power set up was used. The gauges are pretty specail and use their own Brougham specific items. There is a guy in the US caddy club who makes a replacement module which allows the gauges to work properly. The mild custom work could have been done in 58' as the economy was booming and people had real money to spend on things like getting their new car personalised. the upholstery could be original,because there were 300 plus different options for the interior so no two Broughams are alike .
