    I like how every webpage on Schoeller (c_change at least) is plastered with the “sustainability” word everywhere, yet there’s no page on how to wash it... it’s sort of a short term sustainability: it lasts until the maintenance time. I hope this 20 minutes long video interview gets to an explicit answer whether dwr treatment is applied or no, or something else basic like that.

    Couple of questions/comments related to this if you may add some insight to these: 1) Since it involve carbon nanotube, so the overall cost of the fabric is increased. In future when the technology becomes commercial, how would be the market for a casual customer who in cost-oriented? 2) As you mentioned the fabric may not be that much effective for quick physical activity (quick running or any sports that involve such quick activity) then for a casual person I think the market is tough. 3) For the IR protective clothing (used as camouflage by military to avoid being detected by IR/Thermal scanners) what would be the theoretical concept? As in this case you said the object smaller than the IR radiation would react with IR.

    I have close to no idea how or when this technology gets on the market. this was "just" a research paper I was made aware by someone in the community a few years back. (1) I guess fabrics like these are top of the line, if any customers are interested anyways. (2) yes I guess it is more for casual wear, and not for high intensity. I mean ... in very cold or very hot environments every fabric solution to regulate your thermals is gonna fail. (3) no idea. And not the time to do more research on this at the moment, sorry

    Just measure your waist and figure out which length you like, i guess. That was my very first belt, and now I am selling some stuff myself on etsy. How lng your belt should be is totally up to you, especially if you have some dangly bits as in this design. If you're interested in a DIY, the hook on the second lanyard you presented is a knockoff H&K karabiner. The original ones are around $12 per piece, but you can get a 10 pack of decent copies for the same price on Amazon. You can thread 25mm Nylon webbing through two of them and sew them together to make a pretty good lanyard solution. Of course, you could add velcro or whatever you like. IMO that'd be a better solution than what AOKU offers here.

    Sorry i 'm a little dim. To my understanding, the material regulates our body temperature which is a great breakthrough. What is the fabric composition? And if it's synthetic, how safe is it and how does the chemical atoms react to sun (human research experiment done? test for traces of remnants in blood/haemoglobin?) air, water (does it contaminated the water/sea/sealife/we consume...). My apologies for the endless questions, i have more but thought I'll stop here. I happened to own a lot of synthetics clothing, i find light polyester clothes during hotter climate do cool my body, dark colours i feel the heat being retain perhaps good for cooler evenings. Btw, I love viscose!

  • @SewMuchBlack
    @SewMuchBlack3 жыл бұрын

    That was a scientific study, so the material is not on the general market. It was a mixture of synthetically made fibers, so there is no data about how UV resistant it is, for example. Environmental contamination mostly comes from additives added to the polymer, or solvents that are used in the spinning process - and those vary greatly between different manufacturing processes. If you like cellulosic fibers, you may want to take a look at Lyocell. Its more gnetle on the skin than viscose, and it has a way smaller environmental impact than the production of viscose.

    Was für eine Nadel hast du dafür benutzt? Ich hab ne Bestellung von extremtextil schon auf dem Weg, aber ich würd gern vermeiden, an dem Gurtband 5 Nadeln zu verbiegen bevor ich die Richtige einspanne.

  • @SewMuchBlack
    @SewMuchBlack4 жыл бұрын

    Welche Ausrüstung du dafür nutzen musst hängt komplett vom Material ab; ohne zu wissen, welches Material du nutzt kann ich dir also keine hilfreiche Aussage dazu geben. In meinem Fall war das bei diesem Gürtel das normale Nylon-Gurtband (das dünne, nicht das dicke), und ich hab ne Standardnadel genutzt, die die ich auch zum Tshirt-Nähen verwende. Bei dem Gurtband geht eigentlich alles gut. Wenn du andere Materialien nutzt, ist das natürlich anders - je dicker und fester der Stoff, desto robuster und dicker muss die Nadel sein. Was dann wiederum dafür sorgt, dass die Nadel schwerer durchgeht (weil dicke Nadel durch dichten Stoff), sodass du dann schauen musst, ob die Maschine das packt. Das dicht gewebte Nylon-Gurtband packen viele Maschinen (meine inlkusive) nicht für lange Zeit.

    Schoeller is the market leader in synthetic softshell materials so I guess most of the products that are using Schoeller fabrics already disclose this somewhere in their item description or with a label inside. Schoeller dont manufacture garments themselves, they just make the fabrics, so its hard to say which manufactures all use their materials. The more premium a brand is / the higher its pricepoint the more likely it is to have Schoeller softshells. ACRNM as a German "Techwear" brand uses their fabrics, bt since I dont own any american brands I cant say much about your market.
